Beware of annual renewal premium
I had auto and home policy for two years and no claim at my fault during this period.
I got notice for annual renewal notice with 25% increase in premiums. I took quote from other insurance carriers , they offered half of the premium.
Pls save your money by using others carriers for better service for less premium.
After switching to another company (found better coverage at half the price), Johnson continued to take money from my account and refused to refund all of it. Spent hours on the phone over several days, had to send document multiple times and they kept changing their excuses. In the past when I had a claim they also attempted to pay less than was required by law and I had to have a lawyer step in. Most insurance companies are bad, but this one appears to be the evil overlord of Insurance companies. You would be better off with no coverage at all!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I personally recommend Johnson.
I got a Johnson quote through Servus credit union & my annual rate went down 45% (сompared to the previous insurer).
Also because I had Johnson insurance it gave me an entry into a $2500 fuel card which I won.
Thanks, Johnson👍
Paid a hefty amount for car insurance, spoke at 2 accounts about early cancellation just 15 days before policy cancellation and was charged a significant amount for not continuing policy with them when I'm leaving Ontario. They just love to steal people's hard-earned money.
Very bad insurance company. I've been with them for 3 years. I bought my second car they increased by $400. I got a good deal from another company which is $175 less than this terrible insurance company took from me. Don't go with this company - 330$ (and their terrible complicated penalty fee of $800), the penalty for cancelling my insurance. I've cancelled it, now relaxed... I was totally depressed with this huge amount, they don't know the value of hard-earned money...
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
They used to take pride in customer service but now it's only downhill... REALLY BAD and premium prices keep rising.
My policy went up twice in two years even though I had no accidents and only one minor speeding ticket (out of 3 I have had my entire life). When I asked them why it went up (after waiting on the phone for over an hour) they told me that other Johnson insured individuals made claims that they couldn't afford, so their customers were being charged more to cover the costs...excuse me? I finally decided to cancel. When I did, they told me I would be refunded in 5-10 business days. I waited. It didn't come, so, once again, I contacted Johnson and they informed me that it would take over a month for me to have my funds returned. They do not communicate well, they do not care about you, and they do not give the best rates. There are other places you can go. Trust me. I'm saving just under 500 dollars a year since I switched from Johnson.
I sent several emails to the company to find out if there would be a Covid-19 rebate offered like every other insurance company on the planet is offering I got zero response, so my guess is that’s a no. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about this company and I wouldn’t have taken out a policy with them but my original policy with Scotiafinancial passed it off to Unifund Insurance who passed it off to Johnson Insurance. That wasn’t done because they gave me a great rate, in fact I’m paying three hundred dollars more per year with ZERO accidents/tickets than my last policy. Can’t wait to renew...with another company.
I have read posted reviews and hope I have made right decision to move my policy to Johnson / Unifund Assurance from 10+ years at TD Security National. In the arduous decision-making process, I obtained numerous quotes from various providers. Not all quotes are created equal (e.g. deductible amount, $1M vs $2M liability, etc) and like most things in life, you get what you pay for. I did not base my decision on lowest rates (which they were not but they were among the lower ones) more about transparency about policy coverage and experience with the service on the phone. I called Johnson three times to get further clarification as I learned about premium options and narrowed down my choices. I was able to contact the rep, Sandi D., easily each time and she was the only sales rep out of the 7 companies that I called who (without prompting from me) actually took the time to break down the policy in detail and explain each of the premium inclusions and options. Make sure you know these before you just go with the "cheapest" quote. Lowballing rates could indicate the company would be lowballing you on claims. My quoted rate and coverage seemed excellent, as I benefitted from one of their professional group rates. I also asked for quote with secondary driver as my daughter is planning to obtain G2 in near future and Johnson rate for this was excellent and they also offered temp lower rate if child away at school (not all companies do this and check on distance requirements). I also inquired about conditions for future rate increases in case their quote was a "loss leader" to get you "in the door" as I do not plan on being an insurance hopper each year. I even tried calling claims line to see how easily I could get through, as reps from Sales dept. who are hired to get your business, are not the tel no or people you will ever call afterwards. Though one hopes they would never have to make a claim, satisfaction with an insurance provider is best measured in the client's experience with service during claims process. And if disgruntled, that's when you usually hear from customers on sites like these as most people only post review if unsatisfied. Though I hope I don't have to ever make a claim, if i do, I will revisit this site to see if my decision to bring my business to Johnson and give a great rating to start is warranted. The proof will be in the "claims" pudding and I hope I don't have to eat my words and regret this decision.

I was away from home due to family emergency when my insurance pre-auth debits were bouncing. I got charged NSF fee's 10+ times then they cancelled my policy on April 15th for non-payment. When I got home I saw the physical letters, insurance was already cancelled... They didn't call, email or text me when the first payment was missed, I could've fixed the situation. I paid off all the arrears on May 25th and tried to re-instate my insurance, they declined and said to make a new policy. Now non-payment is on my record and Im having harder time getting re-insured. The new quote premium went up by $266/month. I declined and went to a different company.
Im fully G licensed, have no tickets, claims, and never got cancelled for non payment in over 10 years. You clearly dont reward good customers.
