I’ve had multiple encounters with SGI and three separate claims all of which I had a very bad experience, the first claim I received atrocious customer service and the claim took nearly 3 months to get resolved while I was without a vehicle and would not receive a rental, the second claim SGI refused to reimburse me for over $3,000 of recently done work on my now totaled vehicle, and the third was made by someone making a fraudulent claim that never occurred with my vehicle however SGI refuses to take into account any of my words and are charging me over $500 for an accident I was not even involved in. They refused to look at my undamaged vehicle and refused to give me any information about the accident or the other vehicle in the accident. Wanting to share my experience on another site, seeing as SGI makes no effort to improve their customer service.
Someone hit me rushing a light. They were not paying attention and they went into my lane and hit me. After the accident, they admitted fault due to these reasons. Through the claim process that the business started, SGI instead sided with them and gave me full fault despite what occurred at the accident. When I inquired what I could have done to prevent the accident, they kept providing different answers that contradicted my personal written statement. Once this was found out, they changed their answer again. In short, do not trust SGI to go based on your written statement. If the other individual or company apart of the collision is well connected, that will be considered by SGI and their written statement will then be weighed more heavily than yours regardless of what occurred. Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I live in SK and have no option but to deal with them. I have two hit-and-run claims in progress and the company doesn't take it seriously. You pretty much have to pay a $700 deductible every time someone damages your car and even if you have an eye witness it takes them more than half a year to decide the fault.
I insure three vehicles with them and for the one and half months I was gone out of the country and unregistered my vehicles and stored them. SGI decided to hand out $100/registered vehicle if the vehicle was registered as of March 9th, 2022, without considering who has paid how much in premiums in all those years.
I even worked for them for three years, and worst management. They'll keep changing their policies like stupid.
They were totally concluded my claim only through a phone call. I just tell them that my damaged clothes were about $40. They denied my $100 bill and return $40.
My car was hit by someone at night while parked on street. SGI took paint analysis after 3 months and denied my claim as they were saying it comes from a barricade paint sample, but I want to tell them that paint on a barricade is the same as paint on a small trailer. Please give chance to literate people in government sectors so they know how to talk with costumers. Moreover, when I ask that can I have a paint analysis they said no. You should proceed with the court if u need that. They already took 4 months to denied my claim. Adjuster Gord H the rudest person I ever saw!
I had a deer strike in Alberta they took the truck to a garage in Alberta and fixed everything that had to do with the deer strike and when I got back to Saskatchewan SGI told me that a lot of what they fixed wasn’t covered. What I have was the best insurance package money can buy but the guy on the phone basically told me I was a liar... I had to pay thousands in repairs. SGI are very dishonest I wish Saskatchewan would allow private insurance companies to operate. One of the highest insurance rates in Canada. Ridiculous feels like we are living in a dictatorship. Maybe time to move back to Alberta and save some headaches.
I have car insurance with SGI. They take payments out on random days with no notice. If I don’t have the money in there, they then charge me return payment fees and pick another random day to take out a payment. I’m not sure how they are allowed to just decide a random date when we have a contract. It’s impossible to talk to anyone. I was changed to this company by my last insurance company, which was also owned by the same people with no notice. They also raised my insurance price when I have no claims. It’s about $50 more a month than any other company I’ve gotten quotes from. Stay far far away from SGI.
My elderly parents were victims of a phoney hit & run on a day when they had never left their house. SGI did not attempt to fully investigate the situation and filed a 100% at-fault decision within 5 business days. When follow-up attempts were made, they were unresponsive. Terrible company with terrible ethics. Beware and stay away.
I Have a 2019 Lexus Nx300 f2 sport which was smoking in the garage for about 5 hours when my garage caught on fire... Ontario province... They didn't give me the rental same day, it was on 22nd of June, and on Monday when I reached their office because they were closed on weekends, the adjuster answer kinda surprised me when I said that I need a rental, she told me that I have 2 cars... Unprofessional at all... I pay insurance for both... After they ended up giving me rental on Monday when I called after hours and I returned it on Wednesday because we were going on vacation... Now I am trying to get a rental from 10 am and my adjuster seems to be ignoring me... Wish I can put - 100stars... Will switch my cars insurance after solving claim for sure... Been calling about 20 different numbers. Don't know what to do. My time worth more... Good thing my wife is a lawyer... Recording every call now...
I was in accident jan2 1900 hours another truck(ryder) hit me from behind and damaged the trailer and load restrainsts. I took the load to alberta delivered as per dispatch instruction with a damage front anddriver side window broken hood, hood hinge, electrical not working broken mirrows and vibration in the steering after the accident, On jan 6 I took the truck and trailer back to Saskatoon and phoned SGI. and had 3 sep shops look at the truck. the western star dealer told me the truck was a write off. I went back Ontario with the truck through mi with broken window no horn or broken hood hinge. I waited 2 weeks in Ontario for SGI. to look at the tractor both SGI. and my employer RSB knew wher the tractor was after 2 weeks RSB was wanting me to get some repairs done so I could bring the truck out to Saskatoon for SGI to look at it. the truck sat in sask atoon for 2 days waiting SGI to look ast it my uncle was very sick so they gave a load back to on. as my father brother had died. I took a week off for that and told SGI were the truck was. SGI. then waited a second week to tell me to bring the truck out to regina so that they could look at . I told the the truck might not make it they told me to limb the truck out or tow it out at my expense.
