Low $1000 limit is the max

by GeneCho on Sep 23, 2020
3 out of 5 stars

I was shocked that my World Elite (requires a relatively high-income level) came with such a low credit limit. When I called customer service, they said there is nothing they can do for six months. The low limit was not pointed out beforehand. I got this to replace a card with a credit limit over $10,000 so it is pretty useless for purchasing. I was attracted by the benefits and no fee. You'd think CT Bank would like the profit from higher use of the card by me to offset the cost of providing those benefits.

Horrible Company Ethics

by unsatisfied client on Sep 3, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I was initially approved for a $1000 card limit. I got the card in the mail and was using it for over a week. I even made payments for over $500. A few days later, I checked my account to find out that my account was limited. I called in to find out that my account was closed after a second look. Instead of calling me or even lowering my credit, they cancelled my card without any notice. When I spoke to a representative, he said it was true what I was saying but was unable to do anything. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO CANADIAN TIRE AGAIN. HORRIBLE SERVICES.

CARD DECLINED

by JC on Aug 16, 2020
2 out of 5 stars

My card was declined for a $20 purchase I went home and checked and realized, I did indeed pay on time, but I in error paid the wrong credit card company. I owed $191 and had $4800 of credit still available. Always paid on time before the mistake I made. I emailed them and pointed out it was disgusting to decline the card for one missed payment - especially in a pandemic where maybe the person is sick and cannot do their banking. Pointed out all my other payments were on time. They replied saying for privacy reasons call them, which I did. Customer service answered well that is the system. In summary, the Canadian Triangle card is an UNRELIABLE CARD. 1) to travel with, considering they decline the card, after one missed payment. 2) the card cannot be used for automatic payments, as you run the risk of all your auto payments declined because of one missed payment, either you could not afford the payment, or in my case, I made a stupid error.

Worst Customer Service

by JAMJAR on Jun 28, 2020
3 out of 5 stars

I have been trying to connect with CTMC for a couple of weeks. I did get through. I shared I made a payment in full and wanted to ensure they know because it takes time through the bank. I was getting a lecture from this young woman about my payment date. I raised an eyebrow and asked: "Are you lecturing me? What is that?" Then she went back into a lecture. I cut her off and said: "Are you listening to me?" She says: "Yeah yeah you made a payment. WE DID NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT, you still owe us." I took a deep breath... I told her: "I would write a review." She became really nice and became understanding and polite. I just shook my head. I said: "Do you understand the call?" She says: "Absolutely, you are a valued customer." I say: "Thank you, goodbye" and hang up.

This is for April 2020

One and a half years ago my husband lost a job. He called Canadian Tire and they turned off the card for six months to stop interest from accumulating and we were able to pay just about the whole card off and then our card was turned back on and then we paid off in full. They were very helpful to us.

Fraud

by Say no to greedy companies on Apr 22, 2020

They charge me a $10 fee because I OVER-PAID them $14. The credit card sent to me after the previous expired is not working when I tried to use the card at a Canadian Tire store. I could use the overpayment I made since it is my money. In times of pandemic, they took advantage!

Worst Creidt Card Out There!

by Duped on Apr 12, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I initially had a credit limit of $20,000. I also had several other cards with similar lines. After receiving a letter to use it or lose it, I called and they said I can make even a small purchase to keep the card active. I never heard of that before but OK, so I did. After that, they have every six months steadily decreased my limit from 20,000 to 15,000 to 10,000 to 5,000 and now $3,000. When I initially called about why they decreased my limit when I used the card, they were suddenly rude for no reason and claimed that they can do whatever they want out of the blue. It was a very strange call and my limits went down every six months ever since. Anyways, I am going to cancel it.

Just say no to a CDN Tire MC

by Vinnny on Apr 10, 2020
2 out of 5 stars

I currently was on hold waiting for a representative for over 45 mins. I finally got a hold of someone and expressed that I have recently lost my job and can’t make my minimum is there anything they can assist with? Lower interest rate, etc? She didn’t even look at my file for more than a minute and told me no. I feel if you want to have a credit card company that cares in a crisis switch to another one!

Rates During COVID-19

by Kevin on Apr 7, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I just got off the phone with the Canadian Tire option credit card. During this time where everyone is looking for how to help our fellow Canadians, Canadian tire just looks that keep gouging it’s clients. Even the big banks have slashed their rates by half, Canadian tire isn’t very Canadian at this time. In the future I recommend people look at companies that are helping Canadians not pushing Canadians farther in debt to line their own pockets! Get with the program Canadian tire, be better, and support your fellow Canadians in this these hard times, you’ll get your chance to make millions after it’s all done

Disgusting customer service

by 2hourslost on Feb 8, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

After being a customer of the original CTC card, I, like all others was transferred to the first M/C and now Triangle. Just used at store and gas. I went to use it on January 31st and declined. I never get declined on cards as I always pay the bill off full. At home, I tried logging on but received notice on line to call 1800 number. I ended up talking to security who I could not understand and he could not understand me. I asked to speak to the manager and that was a bigger mistake, she was downright rude. I had enough and asked if I had a balance as I was cancelling the card. She told me no balance. Cut up my card and next week get an email statement showing $30.00 credit. So not only rude but they have now proven to be liars as well.
