Sketchy company

Usually rude on the phone, high interest rates, don't work with you to get a lower interest rate when you have a zero balance. Do not get entrap with this card because you'll never be able to pay it down if you lose your job due to the high interest and penalties. If you going to get a MC or Visa go to the bank, not through stores. Say for example your bill says you owe 100.00 monthly payment and you put an 800.00 onto it. They will take off the 100.00 payment and 3-4 days later take another 50.00. I feel they are commenting on fraud.

Low $1000 limit is the max

by GeneCho on Sep 23, 2020

I was shocked that my World Elite (requires a relatively high-income level) came with such a low credit limit. When I called customer service, they said there is nothing they can do for six months. The low limit was not pointed out beforehand. I got this to replace a card with a credit limit over $10,000 so it is pretty useless for purchasing. I was attracted by the benefits and no fee. You'd think CT Bank would like the profit from higher use of the card by me to offset the cost of providing those benefits.

Worst Customer Service

I have been trying to connect with CTMC for a couple of weeks. I did get through. I shared I made a payment in full and wanted to ensure they know because it takes time through the bank. I was getting a lecture from this young woman about my payment date. I raised an eyebrow and asked: "Are you lecturing me? What is that?" Then she went back into a lecture. I cut her off and said: "Are you listening to me?" She says: "Yeah yeah you made a payment. WE DID NOT RECEIVE PAYMENT, you still owe us." I took a deep breath... I told her: "I would write a review." She became really nice and became understanding and polite. I just shook my head. I said: "Do you understand the call?" She says: "Absolutely, you are a valued customer." I say: "Thank you, goodbye" and hang up.

Rates During COVID-19

by Kevin on Apr 7, 2020

I just got off the phone with the Canadian Tire option credit card. During this time where everyone is looking for how to help our fellow Canadians, Canadian tire just looks that keep gouging it’s clients. Even the big banks have slashed their rates by half, Canadian tire isn’t very Canadian at this time. In the future I recommend people look at companies that are helping Canadians not pushing Canadians farther in debt to line their own pockets! Get with the program Canadian tire, be better, and support your fellow Canadians in this these hard times, you’ll get your chance to make millions after it’s all done

Very Poor Customer Service

by Unhappy on May 26, 2019

Customer for years. Online bills not being sent. Called numerous times to complain. Each time you call they say something different. Cancelling card. When calling about paying off that person advised 3rd party sends out online bills and they are having an issue but online support knows nothing.

Really bad card. I cancelled

by Coco123 on Mar 30, 2019

I got a card from them and called to report my card loss to find out that they had the wrong unit number for my address. I corrected it at which point they said they could not issue a new card as there have been too many changes to my account and it’s such a new account. I then told them the address mistake was on their end and not mine as it was the same address my card was sent to, so I’m not sure how my addresses changed. They refused to issue me a replacement until I go into the store, wait in line and use the phone in a store to confirm. I would not have an issue if it were a security issue but THEY made the mistake. Not me. There have not been any changes on my account prior to this minor address correction. Also, at the beginning of receiving my card and using it at a store, my transaction was declined. When I called to inquire why, they said they block all cards after the second transaction until a payment was made. That’s fine, but why is this not stated anywhere? Poor customer service and a really bad card. I have cancelled it and hope everyone takes this as a warning not to get this card.

THIS IS THE WORST CARD!

by Duped on Mar 9, 2019

They assess card every few months and decrease its credit limit if it is not used. This influences your credit to debt ratio /credit rating. I went from 20 grand to 5 grand limit in a year. Next time they send me a use it or lose it letter, I will let the card expire so they cancel it. I no longer buy gas or shop at CT either, where I spent many thousands annually, just not on their card. This credit card stinks. Use any other than this one.

Canadian Tire Master Card Scam

by MF on Mar 1, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I got Canadian tire master card a few years ago and last year they asked me to change to an online statement rather than paperwork with a promise that I will be notified by email as soon as my statement is ready. The notification was happening on and off and each time when I did not receive the notification and missed the due date payment, they charge me interest and immediately I was getting an email saying my payment was late and of course this time I would get their notification. After several complaints to them and not seeing any changes, I concluded, they are doing it on purpose in order to slap their good customers who pay their bill on time with interest. Their rude and untrained customer service people and supervisor were no help at all. I finally fed up with their unethical behaviour and closed my account.

RIPPED OFF

by carlos I on Dec 19, 2018
1.5 out of 5 stars

I had just added up all my statement transactions and totalled 1121.00, some months I had overpaid. I added up all my payments, which was 1133.00. There should be a credit owing to me, right??? NOPE, the woman was extremely rude, she had the same exact numbers as I, and she said they can do nothing. Her colleague said that he got the same numbers but NOPE. No adjustment...rip-off.
