High interest, low point value

by onlyone on Mar 6, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I only picked up the card because of the free points they gave. A points system is cheap. You would think in store at least they'd offer a good point value but nope. I only used the card once and called there support once. Support took forever and did not resolve my concern (moving points as somehow it created a separate point account for me). Now got a notice of interest rate going up and they will round down on purchase points now. So how do you take a bad card and make it worse? Well, ask presidents choice execs.

High interest with no reward

by Champor on Mar 18, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I got the PC MasterCard for the optimum points and I will be cancelling it. I had qualified for bonus points for spending a certain amount in Zehrs and paying with my credit card: 6 weeks ago I put a request in because I was not awarded the points and they told me they'd add them in 4-6 weeks. I emailed at 6 weeks later and they told me again, the points would be added in 4-6 weeks. Not sure how the points arrive in my account but it must be the sickest carrier pigeon in history. So, let's recap; I have to fight for my points and pay like 23% interest? My other credit cards are 11%! Bye-bye PC. You can take someone else's hard-earned money and buy yourself a faster pigeon.

Beware of interest rate hike

by MB on Mar 3, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

Please beware that they can jack up the interest rate to 25.99% if they want to. I was very happy with the 19.99% interest rate given to me until they decided to hike it to 25.99%. Very upset.

spoiled my credit history

by JOHNSON on Nov 24, 2018

PC master card reduced my credit limit four times in four months as I paid off the balance. Due to this, my utilization ratio did not improve and my credit score did not regain much and I became ineligible for good credits. I had utilized 95% of my PC credit card for two months as I need money, and this resulted in my credit score falling by more than 200 points. Since then I paid off most of my balance in PC credit card, and they reduced my credit limit to the amount I paid off straight for four months. Now I have the balance of about 700, and my limit is reduced to 1000. I had about 4900 balance last month, my credit limit was 5300. I had around 5800 balance two months ago and my credit limit was reduced to 6300. Three months ago my balance was 6800, my credit limit was reduced to 7100... Due to this, my credit score has not improved as my utilization remained high. PC employed predatory tactics so that customer pays more interest and becomes ineligible for good credit products. Due to PC tactics, I could not become eligible for low-interest balance transfer cards and I had to pay PC huge amounts in interest, which I would have avoided if PC did not reduce balance so many times to the amount I paid off. PC should advertise about its behaviour, this is not typical behaviour of any credit card companies across the world. PC should apologize before customers like me for spoiling credit history and financial wellbeing. PC should not attract people in grocery shops and cause misery to people.

Stealing Money and Corrupt

by CowboyV on Oct 20, 2018
1 out of 5 stars

I have had my PC Mastercard for over 10 years and, unfortunately, have carried a balance for a lot of that time. I used the card while I was in school and the balance increased to the limit at the time, which was $3500. As I wasn't able to pay down enough to make a dent, so I asked for a credit limit increase to $4500 and was approved. Unfortunately, it still reflected $3500 on my dashboard and I wanted to make sure they increased it as interest was due and would push me over. Sure enough, they put the interest on before updating my limit and then raised my rate to 25%. This was over 2 years ago. Since then I consistently made monthly payments, for well over the minimum, but the interest at 25% really hits the balance. I was informed by 2 other banks that after 6 months of consecutive minimum payments, they are supposed to lower the rate back to 19%, but they refuse. They simply continue to steal money and overcharge with no rhyme or reason. They are totally corrupt and are essentially glorified thieves stealing money and refusing to show any concern or respect for a long serving customer. Meanwhile, I have paid off my $13000 student loan in 5 years by making $200 payments a month, but this card continues to be a cloud. AVOID PC MASTERCARD. They are just a bunch of useless dirtbags and will eventually disappear into oblivion

PC Master card sucks

by joyee24 on Mar 16, 2018

They do not help their customer if they have problems with chargeback. They are on the company's side, not their customer's. I'm cancelling their card. I would rather use my visa. They charge my account interest charges without my knowledge. Terrible customer service.

Wrong Information Given

by Ronna on Mar 4, 2018
2.5 out of 5 stars

I am with PC Mastercard since 2010 without experiencing any problem but Dec 2017 we were approached by the agents of PC Mastercard in Superstore Airdrie Alberta telling us to upgrade with PC World. I asked them if we need to open a new account with that because I don't want to open a new one since we have PC Mastercard since 2010. We were told to that just activate it and destroy our old card and that's it... same account number. But now we have negative impact rating on the credit bureau because it's actually a new account we do not know I keep on paying without our old account number every time we shop I used to pay afterwards. I thought it just didn’t update yet, that's why I overpaid. That or shopping since we used the card that is not reflected in my online banking, but my payments are there. Then I discovered yesterday by calling them that I am not actually paying it because it's a different account number that we were not told about and now we are facing a negative impact on our credit bureau rating. We were told to call credit bureaus to explain what happen that's why I am giving BAD Rating now because it should be you who needs to explain to them. I paid everything yesterday and requested to close the account. PC Mastercard has to do something about it. If only I have lots of money I wanted to sue them. We don't want to have a negative credit rating as we are going to renew our mortgage soon. We always pay responsibly and we didn’t get an overdue bill. These agents in Superstore Airdrie need to be trained because you are not only making money but you are ruining other people's lives. Instead of us getting a low-interest rate and having easy renewal mortgage. Now, this is impossible for us. You are dealing with the future of the consumers when you are offering them credit cards. At least be honest. Please.
