I’ve had the most horrendous experience with PC financial credit cards. I’ve had the card for a few years and only wanted it for the points. The credit card gets you nowhere further with points although they promise the world.

Terrible experience #1:
Auto-payments from my primary account (different financial institution) had expired without me realizing it which meant I had missed 2 payments with my PC cc. Not one phone call, email, notification from PC Financial. I had randomly logged into credit karma and found out that I had missed the payments. That day, I had got a call from a third party to say that my account was going to collections. Not from PC financial. With no communication, they sent my account to collections. I have never missed a payment once prior to this.

Terrible Experience #2:

Once again, I signed into credit karma to see that my PC CC was under closed accounts. Upon spending 30 minutes waiting to speak with someone, apparently there was a request to close my account through a request to speak to a representative online. Never got a call. Never got a confirmation that my account had apparently been closed. Nothing. As I write this, I’m trying to put an offer in on a house and find out a huge amount of my credit amount had randomly been cancelled which can seriously mess with my pre-approval.

Just avoid this financial agency at all costs. It’s a true customer service nightmare.

High interest, low point value

by onlyone on Mar 6, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I only picked up the card because of the free points they gave. A points system is cheap. You would think in store at least they'd offer a good point value but nope. I only used the card once and called there support once. Support took forever and did not resolve my concern (moving points as somehow it created a separate point account for me). Now got a notice of interest rate going up and they will round down on purchase points now. So how do you take a bad card and make it worse? Well, ask presidents choice execs.

Promises for applying are LIES

by Judge Judy on Jan 4, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

I've been fighting with PC Financial MC since August of 2019 (typing this now, January 2020) I was approached by a rep in Shoppers drug mart to apply for their CC with the promise of receiving 100,000 PC points. It was a lie - not only did I not get the points I was promised, now I've been told I can't cancel the card & if I insist on it, they will take away ALL of my points I earned from the past. I'm sick of calling & e-mailing only to get stories & excuses. Oh - just to let others know, you will also lose any points you have earned if you don't use them in 2 years.

THE WORST

by KR on Dec 18, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

You'd think the cashback rewards are great, but they aren't! I would spend thousands, pay my bill on time every single month, and get $10 to redeem? WHAT IS THIS?!! Also, they will lower your credit limit without notice - nothing, even though you've been a loyal customer for years and paid every bill on time! Don't get me started on customer service - just horrible. Stay away! DON'T LET THE "REWARDS"!!!

Terrible online site

by Unsatisfied. on Jul 25, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Twice I had gone online to print off a copy of my statement ... site down for upgrading. I go online today, enter my information, wait for a Verification Code ... it takes 13 to 24 minutes for the verification codes to come in. I phoned to talk to any agent, to change to having my statement mailed to me ... after 10 minutes with her, I was told it will cost me $10.00 to change to paper statements. I told her that’s ridiculous (1st time I have ever said a swear word to an agent .. I was so mad). I said to her I want to cancel my card. I am switched to another agent, trying to convince me to keep the card .. offer me 10,000 and then 20,000 optimum points ... I declined. Points rewards were no bargain .. they restrict how many points you can use at 1 time. I am very happy to have cancelled this card!

Poor service

by Winnipeg on Jul 12, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I used this card all the time and would pay it off as quickly as possible to avoid interest and penalties. In doing so I would use my card at mobile one stations to fill up with gas and then pay the card off as soon as I could. Because I payed off the card before they could charge me interest I stopped receiving points for gas. Any other purchase that was paid off fast I would not receive the points either. On top of that I had to work out what was going on myself because customer service never did tell me what was going on, only that they were looking into it. The card has sat in my desk since. I would not recommend this Card or PC financial.

No longer able to use points

by CT88 on Jun 6, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I've had my PC Financial Mastercard for 10 years, however, after being sent a second new credit card in the last year (both times they said my prior card was compromised..? and a new one was issued) I can no longer use my PC points or see my PC Points balance. The issue began on May 7th, it is now June 6th and they still have not been able to correct the issue. I've called 3 times over this period. Each time was given the same answer and told that the issue will take 6-8 business days to fix. It's now been 23 business days and they still have not corrected the issue. What good is the credit card if I can't use and redeem the points, and what good is a credit card company that is incompetent and has proven unable to solve a problem within a timeline 3 times more than what their own expectation of resolution is. I will be signing up for a competing card and if the issue is finally solved, I'll redeem my points and cancel the card.

Incompetent customer service

by ReadTheFinePrint on Mar 20, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

This company has pestered me to apply for their PC Financial MC. In an attempt to contact them for clarification of card features and application process when they sent me a pre-approval form, I was met with far more additional application hoops than originally indicated despite an impeccable record. I received multiple different answers from different customer service sources and honestly, there was so much lack of ability to follow up on my inquiries I requested no further communication from them. This was ignored and STILL, they repeatedly sent me junk mail. I have requested yet again to remove me from their contact. Absolutely a gong show. To anyone thinking of applying. Make sure you read ALL the fine print on this card as the rewards are far less than what it appears on their promo materials. Thankful I never got this card. Happy to continue on with my other products instead.

High interest with no reward

by Champor on Mar 18, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I got the PC MasterCard for the optimum points and I will be cancelling it. I had qualified for bonus points for spending a certain amount in Zehrs and paying with my credit card: 6 weeks ago I put a request in because I was not awarded the points and they told me they'd add them in 4-6 weeks. I emailed at 6 weeks later and they told me again, the points would be added in 4-6 weeks. Not sure how the points arrive in my account but it must be the sickest carrier pigeon in history. So, let's recap; I have to fight for my points and pay like 23% interest? My other credit cards are 11%! Bye-bye PC. You can take someone else's hard-earned money and buy yourself a faster pigeon.

Points problems

by Enja on Feb 27, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I applied for a PC Financial Card in Shoppers. I was told I would get 70,000 points for opening it. I put my son as a supplementary cardholder. They gave the points to him!!! I am female and the primary cardholder!!! Looks like discrimination! I’ve been trying to get it straightened out for weeks and not done yet. Very angry. I think I should sue for discrimination.
