NOT worth the stress

by PCgoodFoodBadCard on Apr 10, 2020

Nov. $10000 limit. Dec. Locked card for security verification. Jan. Unlocked/Completed Jan. Lowered credit Limit and raised interest. I absolutely believe all the terrible reviews that this card is received on this site and others. I wish I would have read them before I signed up. Now there were many other problems with this company that I have just given you the basics. They are liars can't give you a straight answer and I believe there is something really fishy with this company. I feel uncomfortable with them even having my information but what's done is already done. I have four other cards that I've had for years and years and I have never seen or had the problems I do with this thing and those people. Don't get this card unless you are not going to carry a balance.

Service horrible carte bloquée

by juli on Feb 2, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

On débloque ma carte.

Fraud, negligent and dishonest

by Nicole S on Jan 24, 2020

I live in Toronto, I paid my owing balance in full and closed my account with PC financial, but this year when checking my credit score, I saw an outstanding balance for $92.40 and shows that I’ve been making my payments for these past two years. I didn’t. I closed my account. When I called the employees at PC Financial, all of them were very incompetent, and the best answer I got after three phone calls was that after I closed my account, a payment for $3 came through, so those three dollars are now $92.40, and now I have to pay for it. Still not the worst part of dealing with PC financial. Hang on tight. The most disappointing is that the very next day that I called PC financial, I got a scam call, very convincing to be honest, I can see how a not very smart person would fall for it. I almost did. After my surprise with PC Financial, it is not hard to conceive that someone borrowed one million dollars under my name, and now I have to pay it. These scammers had some of my information too. Yesterday, I called PC financial to ask how I can settle my account. As usual, I talked to a couple of employees with lousy English and incompetent. I am polite to them, by the way. Today, I woke up with a surprise on my visa Scotiabank. A charge for $2500 from ”Western Digital Corp 2”. Is it a coincidence that every time I contact PC Financial so that their employees get access to my private information, I get scam calls and now a steep fraudulent charge under my name? A breach of trust from a financial company is unacceptable, and they should lose their license as a financial institution.

Credit report checked monthly

by Seeing Red on Sep 4, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I have a PC Mastercard. Never missed a payment, was always early, and always paid more than the minimum amount. Today I checked online, to find out that PC Mastercard had closed my account. No warning, no letter, no explanation... I called, and went through hell trying to speak to someone. One after another, the customer service agents were terrible to speak to. One accidentally hung up on me, then when I called back I spoke to another person and it sounded like there was a party in the background. Finally, I demanded to speak to the supervisor, I was informed by him that they do monthly credit checks for their existing clients (that's right...), and because my credit score had slightly lowered due to another company (I repeat, another company that has nothing to do with them), they decided to close my account. Not only is this appalling, it's also judgemental, derogatory, and should be illegal... And one last thing: by checking your credit monthly, and deciding to close your account due to what they see, they are lowering your credit even more. I now have "Account Closed" on my credit report

PC Mastercard Blocked

by fatbertlau on Aug 26, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I went to a restaurant on July 19, 2019, and my credit card was blocked when I was trying to pay by my PC Mastercard. I called their Client Services and they told me I could not answer some security question regarding my account (which I have no idea when or where this happened). Then I called the other day trying to find out why and the agent told me not to use the speakerphone. I think this is so rude and she kept saying because I am a sup cardholder and blah blah blah... Next day, I cancelled my sup card account. Before that, I personally used this card for the regular purchase and generated $ 3,000 balance each month. Now I and my wife are not using PC Mastercard at all. I have so many credit cards in my whole life and never missed a payment. In my personal experience, PC Mastercard constantly checking your credit bureau quite often than other credit card companies. If you don't want soft hit / hard hit on your credit bureau, better cancel this card now.

dispute resolution

by george on May 17, 2019

I have been using this card for years and PC Master card has made money from what I spend. Recently, I was scammed by a free trial trap online. The scammers used Costco to make me think that it was a free reward from Costco. They hid important Terms and Conditions. I thought I only had to pay for the shipping of some skincare products. It was a month later that I know that I had signed up for a free trial and also autofill, which I had no knowledge of. I was charged $400 by the scammers. When I called PC to dispute the charges, the rep wouldn't even take this as a dispute. He said this happens every day. Since I clicked that button on the scammer page, where the important message is hidden somewhere, I have to pay the scammers and PC Mastercard cannot do anything. In a business world, shouldn't the merchant provide customers with a copy of the contract they sign? In this free trial scam, if you don't keep a screen capture of every page you went through, you really don't have any idea of what you agree with. Once you give out your credit card info and click that button on the screen, it is changed to another screen and the important info won't be shown again. The scammers won't be able to provide you with a copy of whatever you sign for. They ask you to check their websites. When another email from the same scammer popped up, I tried to pretend to go through the pages and managed to keep screen captures for all the pages. On the final page, hidden at the bottom, there are some Terms and Conditions. Comparing these Terms and Conditions with the Terms and Conditions on the scammer's websites, I find several key discrepancies. All this means if you don't have screen captures for all the pages you went through, you won't know what you have signed up for. Whatever the scammers say you sign, then you cannot deny it. According to the contract laws, shouldn't merchant provide customers with a copy of a contract? PC Mastercard knows exactly what these scammers are doing and they won't do anything. I will cancel my PC Mastercard.

Extremely frustrating

I thought I'd give PC Mastercard a chance. I like to check my account every once in a while to see how much I spent, when I need to pay off the card, etc. I do this often so that I can stay within my budget and plan ahead financially since I'm a broke uni student but have a card in an attempt to build good credit for the future. I don't have a bank account with them, so I can't use an app to check my balance which is why I have to do it on a browser online. No big deal until they launched their new website. To be honest, it looks nice, I love the layout. It asks me to verify my account, so I did and added my devices as trusted ones so I don't have to verify again. Here's the problem... every single time I try to log in, it makes me verify with my credit card number even though I already verified with that device in the past. Being a young adult, I mostly use cash or pay with a tap on my phone. I don't always have my card with me, which sucks when I want to log in. They don't even allow you to verify with a text/email code or anything else. Then what was the point of asking me to create security questions when I can't even use them to log in??? Customer service doesn't help much either. When I log in (inputting my credit card number, expiry, ccv, etc.), they gave me the option of getting notifications. For example, I can set a budget and it will send me a text when I go over it. I thought "excellent, it's a garbage website but at least I won't really have to log in as often if it will just notify how much I'm spending". BUT along with the website, this function is also garbage as in it doesn't even work. I am very disappointed and will switch companies once I pay this off next month.

Online site is worthless

by going elsewhere for credit on Dec 5, 2018

I do all of my banking online. Not the safest way to bank but my job had me travelling a lot and I needed to be able to do banking this way. The PC Mastercard site is garbage. I ALWAYS HAD TROUBLE LOGGING ON. Now with their new enhanced security, they are forcing you to use Google Chrome according to the customer service rep I spoke to since I cannot log on with Firefox. Google already knows way too much about me just cause I use Android, they don't need to know my CC history as well. I am paying off my balance and cancelling my card. If a large corporation cannot develop a site that works with ALL browsers, how secure is it really?

So far only good experience

by Natalia on Nov 30, 2018

I'm writing this review because there are almost only bad reviews with these cards, and I have a completely different experience. I have this card because no big bank (TD or RBC) wanted to give me, a newcomer without a credit history, the credit card. I'm with this card for about 2 years. Once I lost the credit card, probably at the gas station, and realized 1 day after. There were already some transactions on my card I didn't recognize. Presidents Choice had no problem to cancel all these transactions. Second positive experience I had just now. We bought flight tickets with Primera Airlines, which went bankrupt. All we had to do was filling in a claim form and send a copy of tickets purchase via email. 4 weeks later I got the full chargeback. I was never waiting on the line more than maybe 3 minutes. Everyone was always professional and knowledgeable. To be honest with you, I didn't expect that free card can have such a good customer service. I like earning points for my groceries, I like that they are always improving their online customer panel. My friends recommended this card to me and they also have only the positive experience.

no longer my favorite

by FreddieSaxon on Nov 16, 2018

This was one of my favourite credit cards until they did this to me. I hadn't received a statement in a while, so decided to log in and check, but I couldn't log in...I got something about fraud prevention and that I need to re-certify my login by doing some reset of password and them sending me an authentication id. Tried this, failed, got locked out, told to try in 10 mins, 2 hours, and then 2 days...that's when I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager. Turns out they have switched something over, said they sent me an Email about it, which I never received...in this switchover they also reset all notification settings to blank, and that's why I never received a reminder that my balance was due on Nov 7...but it was on Nov 15 that this nightmare began for me. So I paid my bill and was told that after interest rate charges show up on my account that I should call them back about it. A few mistakes they made here...number 1. They say they sent an Email, but because this is MONEY, they should have put a CLICK TO CONFIRM in that Email to ensure two-way communication was achieved successfully...number 2. Zapping notifications was a mistake that could have been avoided if a seamless transition and true customer care was a concern in their switchover. Even if they remove interest charges, this episode makes me rethink who I am doing business with. On the subject to money, I have a zero tolerance for incompetence, which I think was demonstrated here. Customer service is the one and only way that I evaluate a company, 'nuff said.
