I have had the Costco Capital One credit card for over 4 years and have never missed a payment, until recently when I was away and missed one payment. My card got suspended without any notice at all. It simply failed with authorization at Costco gas station when I was trying to fill up the gas on my way to work. I immediately made the full payment online and called Capital One to lift the suspension. They said there is nothing that can be done until the payment is cleared, which takes 4 days. This is unheard of with any credit card company. They charge the interest on the missed payment AND suspend your card at the same time! What is going on with Capital One?
I have had this card for one year now as we are avid Costco shoppers and decided to reap the benefit of some cash back. I have never encountered such terrible and disappointing customer service with any other credit card that I use (AMEX, other MC). My credit limit is $8000, this must have been determined from the initial credit and salary check conducted. I know we spend more than this but figured the credit limit will be increased in good time as soon as Capital One has evidence of timely & full payments each month (I have an impeccable record with credit cards/bills - never late, always paid in full). It's been a year, I've declined numerous times due to being at the limit and unbeknownst to me, they even allowed a transaction to go through a bit over the limit (under $100), and then charged me a $29 over-limit fee!! I requested a few times for Capital One to increase my limit and they refused, and said it would have to go through upper management for reconsideration, and that they would need to do another credit check and salary check - I refused as I feel I do not need to be begging Capital One, they should be harassing me to increase the limit - crazy! I have never seen anything like it. In addition, cash back refunds are due in Jan/Feb, I did not receive mine until the following June as I kept calling Capital One to state I did not receive a refund, and they kept saying "It's in the mail". Terrible service, I will contact Costco to complain, and will likely cancel this altogether.

I will start off by telling you that I have an 850+ credit score. I have ZERO trouble with getting credit. I have called Capital one numerous times to increase my limit with no reasonable explanation why not. Capital one tells me I will get one when I get one. I try to use it for my main card and it doesn't work. If it wasn't associated with Costco, I would've left a long time ago. Terrible customer service. Hope they take a lesson from PC Mastercard. PC treats me well and asks 3 times a year if I would like an increase. 5 stars to PC MC. Shame on you Capital one, you will lose a lot of customers this way!!!
They ordered a new card for me that I didn't approve, second, they told to get my new card through FedEx within two days & at last, they told me that it's going to take 3-5 days. At last, I spoke with their supervisor Denis, who told me that they will send it today & I'll get my card within 7-10 days. I asked her to review for the recordings because 3 of their employees had lied to me with giving the wrong information. She comes up with a cover-up for their employees & said to me that for the first person it's a miscommunication between you guys, for the second person she didn't hear that he promised to me he's going to send through FedEx & get it within 2 days. It's all cover-up for her employee. In the end, Denis said that I'll get my card in 7-10 days. She lied to me, so in this case, I'll cancel with Capital One because of dishonesty. I don't trust them. There are a lot of other Credit Cards to choose from.I'll not recommend this Bank at all. I wish there's a possibility of uploading the recordings.
Called to have my limit increased to 1000$ from 500$. Even after paying my bills on time every month since the card came out, they still wanted to perform a hard credit check to see my worthiness. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Customer service was terrible. It’s unfortunate that this will negatively affect my spending at Costco going forward. Nobody wants to use debit in this day and age.

After a year of using this card with a 2000 credit limit, we requested an increase. In a typical month, we would spend 8000 on it and pay it every couple of days to ensure there was always available credit. We would typically use it for about 150 transactions a month. Hence, one can see why the need for an increased limit... My wife, who has an Equifax score in the mid 700s with no other debt but mortgage and a car loan was denied an increase, not because of any debt servicing or missed payments and not because of a low credit score...but because 'we didn't use the card enlightened' according to Capital One!!! Once we get our reward cheque in Jan, which will be valued at over 1100...we are done with this card!!! Costco should be ashamed for partnering with these fools...a hit to Costco's reputation!
Should you forget to make the total monthly payments, they will hit with total interest charges and whatever you have spent for the month even though your new bill has not arrived. No one can explain the average monthly system but it’s highway robbery! They simply just charge you over and over and over again for interest. Every month I had an 80$ interest on one month with a small balance of 1000$. My visa had 4000$ and I didn’t get charged that much. That’s when I decided to never use this card unless it’s necessary. Bring cash to Costco or use your debit card. It’s better in the long run or you end up having to pay double for the lousy cashback offers. What’s in your wallet...? A crappy Capital One card!
I have cancelled my other 20K credit limit card and applied for this one last year. Got 6K credit limit which was not bad for groceries. Called them to increase credit limit few months after - refused. Today had found out that I have $0 credit available. Called them to increase credit limit to 10K - refused. I have a very good credit history and a bunch of other credit cards with up to 30K limits with low limit/balance ratio. Wanted this card to be my main one. Will be cancelling Costco membership together with Capital One MasterCard this is how much I pissed off.

Bad customer service. I will never use them again.
I had my new membership and had asked both Costco and Capital One numerous times to update it. I had to travel back and forth while neither party would take responsibility on their faults. I was at Costco over 5 times to deal with this and called Capital One on more than 5 occasions to try and get thing resolved. Nobody did anything until my time run out and Capital One cancelled my card along with $180 reward I had on it. No apology, nobody takes responsibility. Over the course of 2 months, all I got was the runaround. Absolutely disgusting customer service.
