I can understand that Costco ended its relationship with a great company like AMEX. But it didn’t have to go to the worst provider, Capital One. Anyone I know feels frustrated dealing with this company that has had more relationships broken with different brands than it has currently. In the past, I gave up on their Hudson’s Bay MasterCard and I lost one when they gave up on IHG brand, leaving Canadians loyal to Intercontinental group in a lurch ever since.
Recently, I purchased a jewelry item at Costco, found a better and more expensive one at another, returned the first one and I was going over my limit by 300 dollars as the return credit doesn’t show up for a couple of business days. I called Capital One for an increase of my limit by less than 10% but was refused despite my excellent credit and record. I asked them to allow a temporary one time increase of 300 and that was turned down as well. Fortunately, I was able to make purchase with another MasterCard that had much higher limits.
I won’t ever touch Capital One by a barge pole ever again. I hope Costco finds a better and more reliable partner.
Decided, at last, to get the card because we spend a lot of $$ at Costco. Since it was associated with Costco (5*+), I thought it would be simple. But no! They got our names wrong and we have to fly to the moon to change that. Further, if I want to check my account online, I MUST have a cell phone; what rubbish! I don't want one, don't need one and will never have one. But, if I want to go online with my computer, I have to have one to get sent a text. 19th-century software. All they can say is sorry. Attitude is terrible - well why don't you have a cell phone. I do not have that issue with any other bank or CC that I deal with. Sorry, keep it!

Cancelled my card.
As others have said, no credit increases. I've been constantly hitting my meagre limit monthly, enduring the embarrassment at the checkout and making early payments.
As per their "terms of service", I forfeited all of my Costco rewards.
This card has been damaging my credit rating for "high credit utilization".
Well sure. With the limits they give out, a child could hit it easily.
Shame on Costco, a brand that I personally trust for getting into bed with this company.
Signed up for this card at Costco a few years ago because we were told it was the only credit card being accepted after AmX. I never carry a balance and have excellent credit. This company, like at least one other reviewer, said, stopped sending paper statements and forced me to go online as customer service was repeatedly busy and they didn't return my voice message. When I finally got through, I was automatically routed to accounts receivable (not the 1800 customer service line I called) and was treated like a low life criminal by the agent and then the supervisor. After I explained I hadn't been receiving paper statements, they wouldn't credit all my interest charges, only a portion. I asked for my payout amount, canceled my account, then paid my balance online. Capital One seemed to me to take advantage of the postal strike in Canada. This is around the time when the difficulties began. They said I was possibly not receiving my statements because of this. I said that I haven't had any issue with any of my utilities or the other credit card we have, PC MasterCard (highly recommend this card - never an issue and we frequently have large balances 7-12 k that we pay off each month, great for points). I suspect this is around when Capital One actively began forcing customers online and penalizing those like me who didn't. I would love to see an investigation of this company! Fortunately, Costco will now accept other master cards, as confirmed by the local membership. If not, I am prepared to do all our shopping at SuperStore rather than have to deal with Capital One again.
It's all been said in the other reviews - all I can add is that Canadian consumers should have the power of effective recourse against the predatory practices of this company. In order to get the agency to issue credit cards in Canada, there should be a basic minimum of ethics and a desire to help consumers, not just prey on them. My Amex with Costco had about a $10000 limit, and Capital One will not raise me from $1500, which is useless. (I have a good credit rating) This reflects very poorly on Costco and makes them look indifferent or complicit in the arrogance and greed. Costco, turf these guys out!

Like so many people have written here, I could not get my credit limit increased; then I paid a large sum into my card account thinking I can buy what I want when the deal is on, but still waiting for the money to be credited to my Costco Master card account. Understood that if there is any transaction pending, even whatever I paid (they call it overpaid) cannot be used until the pending is cleared. In other words, they will not increase your credit, even if you pay into your account, no guarantee you can use it when you want to use it. Running between Customer Service to the Underwriting Department did not make any difference as they all seemed like reading from a script. Very disappointed.
Customer service is terrible. I cancelled this card in May of 2018 and just got a bill for $135 today. This is ridiculous, and when I called about this charge since my credit card was supposed to be cancelled, the customer service rep said: unfortunately, it wasn't closed properly and we can not take away the charge. And then when I called back about my account details, the individual told me to call back tomorrow or in a couple of hours since their server is down. He was nothing but rude and disrespectful. I could never support a company that doesn't care about their customers and lies to them.
Hi there, my experience with Costco capital one card is not good. This started when they upgraded the online banking and I lost all my online login info. Attempting to log in several times using my old acct info w/o any prompts or notification that the online upgrade is happening. Finally, when I figured it out, lots of info was not available to config or setup. I called customer service but they weren't able to give me any good concrete solution (I was trying to update user name). They asked me to try again later that the system is perhaps not working. I find the poor customer communication that the online upgrade is happening is my first poor experience. Talking to the call center, the agent wasn't trained up or given the right info was the other thing. Finally, when I was trying to use it to skip the dish, the card payment failed. Tried several times w/o luck. Finally, had to call the restaurant to make the order. Next day I find out can't use the card and so had to call the call center. The customer service was rude and was not helpful. She asked verification questions many times. CS seemed like didn't want to help me. Again they gave me a bunch of scripted vague answers that leave me feeling they didn't want my business. If it was not the Costco aspect (ID on the back of the card), I will cancel this card.

This is literally the worst credit card I have ever had. I also carry 2 Amex Corp Platinum cards (one US, one CAD), a personal Gold, a CIBC Aerogold, and this card is only in my wallet because COSTCO forces us to use this junk. 2 times now I have missed payments because they force you to go paperless and they don’t email you balance updates or notifications of statements being available. They said: Well, sir, you can just log in and check. I said: this is 2019 - oh, and when I called on Christmas Eve not knowing why my card wouldn’t work at the store their customer service dept. was closed! On maybe the busiest shopping day of the year. This is a dumpster card, which I’m guessing is geared to low-income people they might want to take advantage of or want to stick them with interest charges. I now have to set a reminder to check for my statement. Anyways, Costco I love you. Turf these idiots. Your Amex was amazing. I’m sure that you can now see you get what you pay for in life and how they are saving that money they charge you. By cutting corners and pissing your customers off.
For no apparent reason, Capital One cancelled my card which effectively cancelled the pre-authorized payments they were taking from my bank every month. I was totally unaware of any of this as I was out of the country for six months. When I returned I had a three-inch stack of letters from a collection agency. Even if Capital One had a legitimate reason to cancel my card (which they didn't) one would think they'd have the foresight to take their payment from my bank account first! I have spent about two hours (so far) on the phone with Capital One with no resolution in sight. I am beyond livid. I am now using my PC mastercard at Costco. As other posters have said I also lost my yearly rewards payment from Capital One because of their incompetence.
