Absolute scam

I received a financing card through FutureShop/ Chase before Best Buy took over. When BestBuy stepped in my accounts were transferred to Desjardins. I have now paid over $400 for a $100 purchase and had my credit completely ruined due to poor customer service. They rarely send statements and when they do it is on request because I am ineligible for online statements being grandfathered in. When I do call and ask for the full amount owing they only tell me a portion. Today (after already paying off the "full amount" 3 times now) I called to see why they are showing up on my credit score again as a missed payment. They responded saying I owe $12. Then when I pressed the "full amount" went up to $16 then before I hung up I tried to verify the $16 would clear me, nope I still owe $46 to clear my card. Remember I don't receive statements so if I had paid the initial $12 like I was told I would've assumed I am paid off. This $100 purchase was made for a baby shower. The kid is in preschool now(4 y.o.). Please tell me how multiple payments over $20 over 4 years have not paid it off. TERRIBLE COMPANY. Shame on you.

Worst fraud department

by incompetent_desjardins on Sep 25, 2019

You would think that a credit card company would be vigilant about credit card frauds. I went to Best Buy because of the flexible financing they offered with Desjardins visa credit card. Despite my good credit scores, my request for the maximum of $2,000 limit had been denied. They gave me a Desjardins number to call to see why I had been denied the application. After series of voice automated options, I found out that I had been approved for $15,000 limit and the account had been created under my SSN (It's Canadian) This freaked me out, and I immediately called their customer service to see what was happening. I was on the phone with them for over an hour as the Fraud Department could not figure out anything, and they pass the call around with different departments at least three times. Oh, and when I was transferred to customer service, they were very short with me about the fact that I called them up about fraud-related events... It was very hard to keep calm over the phone. My last time being "on hold" I was waiting for about ten minutes, then the phone was disconnected. Needless to say, they have the WORST customer service ever. They were so irresponsible as they did not know how to deal with fraud-related events. If anything, do not deal with credit card companies who couldn't care less about credit card fraud (and your credit score)

Horrible customer service.

Highly incompetent staff. Phone hold times in access of 45 mins. Rude customer service representatives who couldn’t care less about helping you. I escalated my issue to three different “managers” and still no resolution. They provide you with false information and loads of inconsistencies. Absolute horrible to deal with.

JUST DON'T

Having many problems with them: can't even tell me where the amount is from after I cancelled my account and card money was somehow being taken off my card and amount owing was going up by days. Telling me that Trans Global Ins was to blame when contacted TGI. They had one of their members from accounting to look into with more info that this stupid card company can't even tell you. Finally finding out I owe $30 and TGI taking a total amount of $71 that was put back on the card... to find that my new balance is now 103... how to this day after 3 weeks I'm still nowhere with my credit going down... do yourself a favor and don't sign up with them. I, unfortunately, did... They are giving you the runaround and stealing more money from you. Complete garbage.

DO NOT GET A CARD FROM THEM!!!

My fiance has a credit card with Desjardins. The balance on the card is less than 5k. We barely use the card and make at least $400 payment per month, yet we still get harassed by phone calls on a weekly basis saying we aren't paying enough monthly. They went as far as calling her place of employment. Ridiculous. They are vultures.
Would not recommend them to anyone who would like a piece of mind.

Extremely annoying calls

by Patricia on Jul 18, 2018

After making arrangements with them for a missed payment, they called me every day, 2 or 3 times a day to remind me about the payment arrangement .. there were so many phone calls for the same thing that I had to block their numbers. I finally paid in full and don’t have to deal with this company anymore.

Worst service and support

by loquitus on Oct 3, 2017

I got this card with my company. Terrible. The card gets blocked everytime I travel overseas. I end up having to squirm for money and it is awkward. I have had to convert CAD to USD in a desperation repeatedly. They make me wait 45-60 mins a call to unblock and apologize and it happens again and again.

We had our company services paid automatically by this card and whenever it blocks, those services get suspended and stopped and we have to manually intervene to get them unblocked, often with our personal cards. There are also losses in real $$$ because of this.

The breaking point was when we were in the UK and the card was blocked AGAIN. This was apparently due to it being unpaid. Except, it has been paid fully. We called customer service from the UK. After a 45 min hold (they always seem to have unusually high call volume... it does not matter when you call), they told us they had not received the payment and that's why. It had been 12 business days by this point and no payment was made yet.

Fast forward and we came back to Canada after having had to expensively withdraw cash out from ATM's in the UK. I find out they had received the payment BEFORE we went to the UK but because of the internal way they have accounting for the card, the "main" account had been credited for the payment we made but that had not been reflected on the card itself.

So when we called from the UK, they were not aware of this? Clearly, the payment had been made by that point. They just confirmed that. We, as their customers, don't even know about their internal accounting system except they are now telling us we should have asked them to "decentralize" the accounts and this would not have happened. I am curious if these guys have any respect or manners.

Anyways, if you want to experience credit card and customer service hell, go with Desjardins. You will experience it.

Horrible experience

by CMLL on Jul 18, 2017

I have had a credit card with TD, a west jet card, company cards with CIBC and RBC and Desjardins is by far the worst credit card company I have ever experienced. I have never had a rep that was polite or respectful, wait times are long and they are extremely inflexible. I had my TD credit card stolen and Desjardin card was stolen. When I called both places to report it TD canceled my card and removed all charges. Desjardin was like pulling teeth to get it canceled and for them to remove charges. Their credit card also takes 5-7 business days for a payment to go through and even if you pay your card before the due date, if it doesn't go through in the 5-7 days they consider it late.

will not defer payments

by Dawn.berta on Mar 26, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I called them this morning and because we already made a partial payment for this month, not only do we have to complete this month's payment, which isn't even due for another 2 weeks, they will only defer 1 month. 1 month? Have they not heard the country is falling apart and we are all out of jobs? Thank you, Desjardins, for causing more stress in an already stressful time.

Ripped off

They added a 3rd party scam insurance to my card, and it cost me more than the card. Absolutely refused to assist me to get my money back. Avoid!
