Terrible customer service

by Unhappy customer on Mar 21, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Aside from the fact you can’t use tap with this card, or do any online banking. Their customer service is terrible. Will not listen - at all, despite multiple requests to do so “ please listen to me” and they talk right over you. They said “ you have to call home trust customer service “ I said “Please give me the number” about six times before actually getting the number even though I had called home trust visa customer service. Unbelievable. Not worth it! Get a prepaid visa instead. (By the way , we had a credit on our account and it was not due to maxed out cc). Stay away!

Charged 4% forex fee

by Apat Naey on Feb 17, 2021

I tried HomeTrust because they advertise no foreign transaction fees but when I tried buying something on ebay and checked the exchange rate on VISA (usa.visa.com), the actual charge was 4% higher than the VISA advertised rate.

I applied for the card in July and sent all required documents and deposit, waited over 10 weeks, still no reply, ended up cancelling my check, costing me money. Total garbage company and would avoid at all costs.

Compromised card

by Geo - CAN on Jul 22, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

Well - this card used exclusively for travel was compromised while living in my safe. I got a statement with a charge from a UK company. Not a lot of $ but not mine. 1 hour, 4 hang-ups on a Friday to cancel the card. Now I have to call disputed charges as we are after regular business hours (three calls to find this out with menu requiring 3.5 minutes to navigate) two of the calls were to express my unhappiness with their process which if done correctly would have been within the timelines. Their dispute resolution states "you must call us immediately" So the next week I tried again, their auto system ends with a Spanish voice and hang up (I did this process twice as I could not believe it) I had to call and wait 10 minutes to be transferred to the number because I could not access directly. Then all they did was open a ticket of which I would hear in 15 days - if I did not........ call back...... really? So now I wait. I actually don't need this card and I sit wondering why I have now spent about 3 hours of my time to resolve an issue not created by me.

Worst CC customer service

by FedUp on May 16, 2020
1.5 out of 5 stars

Was hung up on no less than 10 times in 2 days. I Will not accept my card number on several occasions until I read the numbers and even then it is standard security to read off numbers twice. Their website security is a joke when you can't use the same password for the last 10 times and they ask you dumb security questions like "what Olympic sport would you compete in" when who remembers the exact answer to something like that 2 years later. I asked for a credit increase and looks like they didn't even bother to look into it. Only CC company that I use that has you call before you travel. If I don't cancel this card outright it will sit in the back of my wallet only to be used in some place only accepts VISA. Unreal incompetence. Other cards offer currency fees and roadside assistance deals.

Don't call them ever

by shmoozes on Apr 27, 2020

Tried calling their line for nearly two weeks and each time after waiting a number of minutes the line went dead. This company is a joke and their customer service if you can even reach them is pathetic. I would recommend that whoever has this card cancel it and get a card from a company that really cares about you as a customer. The only thing I can think of is that everyone in this company has contracted the coronavirus and there is no one left to answer the phones. If I am incorrect then the word pathetic is not a suitable word to call them it would have to be a lot worse than that.

No problems

by GRF1551 on Dec 31, 2019
4 out of 5 stars

I applied for a card and had to call them when I didn't receive a card or email response. On the call, they then informed me that I had neglected to sign my application. I wish they had told me, rather than forcing me to make contact. Nonetheless, once I completed that step I receive my card within 10 days. Easy to activate the card and to change my PIN. I intend to pay my balance every month, so I don't anticipate any problems. I do wish that they offered rental car insurance. Such is life. The card is to rebuild credit, I didn't expect a lot of bells and whistles, just the ability to use a credit card again.

7 weeks of wasting time

by NN on Aug 28, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I applied for a Home Trust secured credit card because I don't have a credit history. After 1 month of silence, I was requested to send them 2 IDs, a utility bill and a bank account statement. I sent everything, except the utility bill (all utilities are included in my rental agreement). Also, I sent an invoice from my Internet provider with my name, address and payment information. I got a refusal 7 weeks after my application date because I was not able to send them electricity, water or cable bill. If you need to build a credit history either apply to their competitors or be prepared for 2-3 months of processing time and sending tons of documents. If you need a credit card for online shopping, including flights and hotels, consider the prepaid credit cards.

Worst ever service

by annoyed2019 on May 14, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

They put a hold on my card because I missed one payment ($10, seriously?) even though I spent and paid off thousands of $$ over the previous 3 months. Only noticed this when I went to use it for a very small ebay purchase and it would not accept the card. Had to call to find out why. I would not have to miss ANY payments if they allowed me to set up automatic payments to pay off the balance each month, but they tell me 'they don't do that'... Why? Because then they don't make their interest? Annoys me...
