Paying out after death

by irishlovinglass on Sep 26, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

My father and his partner had life insurance policies naming each other as beneficiary - paperwork was filed when his partner died 18 months ago and he never received the money that was due to him. He passed away without receiving any satisfaction from Scotia Life Insurance and now they are giving me the same runaround and excuses they gave my dad... find another company to buy life insurance from and save yourself the headaches.

They take advantage of people

1.5 out of 5 stars

My mother took out a policy. She had no money and making her payments was a huge financial struggle. After she died they denied our claim and left us with no money. They said she checked a wrong box when she filled out her application and because of that our claim was denied. They are heartless and ruthless.

Worst amateurish insurance

Over the past 25 years I moved several times and thus had to have several home insurance. This Scotia Home insurance (BNS Certas) is the worst I ever had to deal with!! It sounds they are beginners, only dealing with very small apartment and not able to cover for bigger homes!! If only they said so instead of asking you hours of questions and making you hold on to ask supervisors, seniors etc who visibly know nothing about nothing!! terrible experience!!! As a proud Scotiabank customer, the bank should stop working with this amateur group!!!

Did you know that mortgage insurance is the same as life insurance but more expensive and offers less protection? By cancelling it and getting life insurance, you would typically save around 30%-40% for the same coverage.

constantly hounding me to increase my coverage. Almost enough to cancel the small policy I have!!
