Absolutely garbage in every category.

I had a mortgage with Hometrust somebody had hacked my email and represented themselves as Hometrust using the letterhead and just went on for months and months and I was behind on my mortgage Hometrust did not even contact me they sent me a letter stating that they were going to foreclose on me and the person that hacked our emails told me that not to worry about it it’s we’re going to take care of it just keep putting money in and then I came home and the doors were drilled and when I showed them all the emails he said ill have to look into that and they give me two days to get all my stuff out of the house no extension. I had to get a lawyer just to fight to get that. they did nothing for me they threw me under the bus and said it’s not their problem I believe when someone represents someone else it is their problem they gave me no help did not cut me any slack they charged me extra money and did nothing for me the person eventually was caught and charged but Hometrust says it’s not their problem so of course I lost my house a ton of money and was forced to sell it for a loss their lawyers told me that I couldn’t buy the house back. I had somebody to buy their mortgage out and they would not allow me. they said they wanted the house to sell themselves they absolutely help me in no way they did everything they could to take as much as they could from me I think under the circumstances they could’ve been lenient and helped me out and understood and let me buy it back but no they wouldn’t allow it I had to get a lawyer just to fight to sell it unbelievable I’ve never seen anything like it...
They make it impossible to talk to anyone, they have no pre-approval process so there is literally no way to find out what you are even approved for when looking for a new house. The only way is to apply and make an offer. Which is a waste of everyone’s time if it’s out of your budget. The employees are literally incompetent. We will be switching providers ASAP.

I lost my job and due to the Covid-19, it was hard for me to find another job. I called in HomeTrust to get some payment deferral. They deferral one payment and they refuse to do another. They were so rude! They made it sound like we're begging them for something they made me feel so bad that I don't even want to call them back but I regret having a mortgage with that company... I recommend nobody use them.
I have asked numerous times for rates, fees and costs. They have been consistent in either not giving me the information I've requested or giving me inaccurate information. Seriously go to a loan shark, you'll get a better deal and way more transparency. These guys make me never want another mortgage in my life!
During this pandemic situation, banks are deferring payments for 6 months. Home Trust does not defer payments. They state on their website that they offer assistance but that is not true. I submitted my request for deferring assistance and received a letter stating that they would defer my April payment since I had no funds available pay and that I must may my following monthly payments plus my missed payment for April payment. They stated, "we do not offer skip or defer payment plans". Absolutely terrible response for my plea for help. I am a loyal customer who never missed a payment. I will be transferring my mortgage to one of the major banks who seems to support their customers when they need help.

Hometrust is the worst place to get a mortgage from, they will do anything to charge you as many fees as they can, they won't be upfront about it and their staff won't be able to explain what the fees are. They treat their clients terribly, they are insulting and condescending. I have several properties, one of which is with Hometrust for one year (and not a day longer if I can help it), and I have never been treated so poorly as I have with them. Avoid them at all costs, they will rip you off many times over! Never again.
Refused to give a mortgage assumption even with stellar credit and steady income. Then said they would do a new mortgage, only offered %65 of what was needed. They are crooks! Not to mention wanted to raise rates like crazy!!! They will only give mortgages to high-risk clients to make money off of them! Avoid!!!

Absolutely garbage in every category. Customer service representatives are either not properly trained, incompetent or just don't care. They either takes weeks to reply to emails and voice-mails or they don't reply at all, even with email reminders.
They operate like it's 1983. They only got online service a few months ago and you can only see you mortgage information. You cannot may payments, increase your payments or anything. Every is done by phone or email or Canada Post to which they take neglect to respond to. When you do happen to talk to someone, they never have any answers. They always have to check with they superiors. Being frustrated with this mortgage company is an understatement.
