Never have I had such terrible customer service especially when you are dealing with health issues. IF I COULD RATE THIS COMPANY AT 0 I WOULD! I decided to take life and disability insurance with my mortgage. Sent in all my paperwork and have proof. I pay for insurance for 1.5 years. I get sick and need to claim short term disability. They say they never received my information. I provide information. Then my complete medical file has to be sent. They deny my claim. Say my branch will refund the premiums. Branch says they need insurance decision to supply info 6 months later still trying for resolution!
I had been waiting for about 2 months without pay on somebody to make a decision on my file, every time I call customer service is very kind but can never solve the issue or they tell me that someone will call me with a decision in x business days. Always extending the deadline.
At first, they deny my disability claim and requested more documents to approve my claim but payment is taking forever. It's been about two weeks since I was approved, still no pay. They treat me like a rag. They have no regards for you whether you are in pains or trying to keep a fetus inside of you. I want them to know that we live in a society that revolves, what goes around comes around!!
When I give a company access to my bank account I expect them to respect that trust. My automatic payments were increased 5-fold without notification.
I tracked down the agent who I like, but suffered through a less than satisfactory explanation.
I will never trust this company taking money direct monthly - ever.
I cancelled all policies and am waiting for the refund
I had an accident. My doctor and physiotherapist both declared that I will be disabled for 6 to 1 year. They asked for documents many times and we sent them many times, but according to what they said on the first day, they did not pay anything. I paid money to this lying company for 14 years. I had to cancel. They are a dirty dragon with the worst behavior in the time of Calim. Do not trust this company and this insurance
I fell ill and my doctor ordered me off work for several weeks. I needed to make a short term disability claim but was denied because I wasn't 'totally disabled'. In my experience, this company was not there when they were obligated to be. I have terminated my plan and regret paying in to it for as long as I did.
They took my money and did not hold up to their end of the bargain.

I got a call from one of their representative and was told that my claim was denied. I lost my husband to cancer and now I’m battling severe depression and anxiety along with my grief. I have a daughter and I don’t have extra support. They based everything on phone interviews. Due to the language barrier maybe I wasn’t able to explain to them hinders me from getting the claim I was hoping to support my daughter. No compassion!
I had a short-term disability claim due to an injury, they use an application that directs their call directly to your voice mail so the phone doesn't ring at all... When you email the claim specialist they send you an auto-reply saying they're out of the office and also when you call the specialist they never answer so you have to leave a message so they can use the app and leave you a voice mail telling you to call them back. My claim still did not go through 2 years later. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an insurance company. When you do get a hold of them they tell you they are reviewing the case... 2 years later. I wouldn't even insure my goldfish with these guys. Horrible I don't know how they're still in business.
Unbelievable! I have been on LTD since a head injury 4 years ago. I attempted to return to work three times, and prior to the last time I was placed on permanent partial disability. Unfortunately I have been unable to return to my work for a 4th time. I notified Desjardin 2 days after seeing my specialist and faxed her note. Two months later, they have refused to pay me and are not responding to repeated phone calls and emails, which is causing undue financial distress and the stress is exacerbating my symptoms. The only course of action is now legal! Don't deal with this insurance company!
I work in Longterm Care and Desjardin is supposed to cover a portion of lost wages while an employee is off on sick leave, medical leave etc. I have heard nothing but negative feedback from other employees who tried to access this benefit and have been denied. Under medical leave from my doctor who filled out the required paperwork in detail... I was denied. Under prenatal sick leave, I am having problems again. The company loves to take your money but denies coverage in the event of medical leave.
