Awful

by May on Jul 15, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

My Dad passed away in March 2021. We cleaned up his estate and closed off any bills he had owing. Sonnet sent a collection agency after one of his policies (he had 2) in late July. They claimed they tried to reach him at his (disconnected number) in May for the payment. I thought I was done dealing with my Dad’s death but Sonnet just keeps reminding me he’s gone. Awful.

Asking a Q got me cancelled

by Silver on Jul 1, 2021

So I get this job, they tell me I need to inform Sonnet that I will SOMETIMES have a client in my car. I call sonnet and they start this whole issue saying it’s business use and against policy etc. Even though my job assured me that this is not the case and it’s never been a problem. Rather than CALL me to discuss options, I am EMAILED this letter telling me I have 5 days to find new insurance. It was the rudest, uncompassionate, disrespectful customer service communication I have ever received! What if I didn’t check my email? What if it went into Junk? What if I decided to not take the job? What about my ability to contribute to any decision? What type of customer service is this?? Sonnet’s actions have displayed that they feel customers are disposable and insignificant.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

I had some issues during covid and a loss of job and missed one payment so they cancelled me and when I paid the amount owing and asked to continue my services not only did they say I now had to pay yearly for ONE missed payment but now I can’t even get insurance without having to pay well over $3000. Scam artists that screw their customers!!!!

Terrible

These people are lazy and should not even work with wages. These people are a joke. First I have filed a claim and after three months of patiently waiting. I still have no response even after getting back to the adjuster that was on my case. I called and emailed, no response! So I decided to cancel my policy after a year, after that I got charge again for a new year term which I was not expecting because I turnoff auto re-new. The website is terrible, customer service and people who work here are terrible. We should start a class action suit.

Worst company ever.

I have been with Sonnet since 26th October 2017. They have been increasing the monthly payments every year, even after that, I have been continuing with them. They sent me an email in August in which I had to submit my rent agreement which they already had from the beginning and was submitted to them again when I had a $1600 claim on my car last year. I got to know about that email when I received a letter that my policy will be cancelled this year. That email was in spam. I rarely check my spam box. I am ready to give them whatever they need from me but according to their norms I had to reply to them in August otherwise my police will be cancelled on 26th October 2020 which is their final decision.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

I’ve been with them almost 3 years they said they sent a renewal form through email but I can’t find it in there and I haven’t had to do one before with them. I get a letter in the mail saying my policy is cancelled cause I didn’t fill out a form I didn’t know I had in my email...When I called it took 45 min to speak to someone and she basically said too bad nothing she can do go find a new company... That’s how someone who never misses a payment and never had a claim gets treated... Just disgusting!

Cancelled for no valid reason

I received notice my policy would be cancelled August 2nd as a result of them not having Proof of Active Status for my driver's license. I contacted them and provided this info, a week later I received a renewal notice and my rates had doubled to over 400$ a month, the same day I received a second cancellation notice with no reason stated. They then proceeded to cancel my policy on July 2nd with no notice to me, leaving me uninsured on a brand new $60k vehicle, for almost a month before I noticed. I have nothing positive to say about this company whatsoever, customer service is useless and knows about as much as the consumer, upper management plays phone/email tag with you for weeks on end with no resolution to any problems. Buyers beware. Avoid this company at all costs regardless of how good of a price they may offer, I'd been insured with Sonnet for 4 years at a very reasonable rate, no claims, no tickets, perfectly clean record, and they doubled my rates with no explanation.

They took money out of my account when cancelled my policy before the start date. And now they don't want to reverse the payment. Don't be fooled by them! They will cheat on you! They refused me for full coverage when I'm paying for full coverage from the beginning and they automatically cancelled it without me knowing hence my daughter driving without full coverage.

Fraudulent Company

I have had an auto policy for just under a year. I've NEVER had an accident, claim, missed payment, or even a ticket. I happened to log onto my account online one day, only to see a large notice on my homepage stating that my policy has been cancelled and I cannot make any changes. There was no explanation offered as to why they cancelled it (I truly cannot think of a single thing that would trigger a cancellation. Absolutely nothing about my policy or driving record has changed this entire time). But the more infuriating part is that they made no attempt to contact me to inform me. No letter, no email, no phone call. I would have been driving around illegally uninsured this entire time with no idea if I didn't just happen to log onto my account one day. I called their customer service line, and the representative (not a licensed advisor) couldn't provide me ANY information about the cancellation other than "we can no longer provide coverage that meets your needs"... how is that possible in the middle of the year, when I've not requested any changes to my policy or had any change in driving record?? Considering the immediate cancellation, I tried to confirm that they would not withdraw a payment for next month and that I would be refunded for the final month that I already paid, only to be told that that was not possible. When I asked to speak to a higher level of management about the issue, I was told that would also not be possible. I am tempted to take legal action against this crook of a company.
