Day lights thives

ICBC has had its monopoly for too long now.

Its about time we allow private insurance companies to operate in BC

I would like to highlights the problems of monopoly and how the BC residents are taken for a ride but this monster called ICBC.

First of all the most expensive insurance in the world is ICBC there is no insurance in the world that charges 4000$ for a new driver except ICBC. The sad part is they are getting away with it since no one apparently in BC is doing anything to end this mockery.

ICBC has announced profit of 285,000,000 in one year with 135% increase in profit and yet they want to increase the premiums by 4.9% on all drivers and the CEO has the decency to come on TV and claim that the 4.9% is less than a 1 a month.

Seriously do you think that Canadians are that stupid here is the formula first of all the average insurance in BC ( these statistics is by them not mine is) 1285$ 4.9% of that is 62.9$ that is over 5$ a month how dare you lie and say it is less than a 1$?

Did you know that new drivers in BC are asked to pay 4000$ for those old drivers who really think that this does not affect them since they are averagely paying 1300$ think about your sons and daughters think about your brothers and sisters and friends who will end up paying over 300$ a month when you can buy a brand new car for less than 200$ a month EMI?

The problem is bigger than amounts paid the problem is Monopoly.

Allow me to highlight the monopoly scheme

When you are a monopoly you become complacent you don't care about your customers any more to you they are sheep not clients or you see them with the $ sign on their foreheads

As a monopoly they will use their funds in every possible way to keep their business running as a monopoly therefore you have a lobby of corrupt politicians who are paid to protect the interest of this company and not yours as a citizen of this country. You become a no. not a human being any more.

Other problem of Monopoly is that the company who is preforming the monopoly they have no respect to their clients its like we can do it we are doing it and we love doing it and you have no other option but to take it or leave it.

Today cars are no luxury. They are a mean of transport to many of us. If we don't drive and reach to our work we don't eat or pay the rent at the end of the month. When company like ICBC has the liberty to do what it likes with your as a no. ( not a human being ) they are hitting you where it hurts and you have nothing to do about it.

Remember politicians and supporters of ICBC are being paid by you they are your servants but just like police they get carried away and they think they are above the law. They need to be reminded that you are there to serve us and not the other way around.

Today ICBC is no more a private company they are now setting the rules for the road speeds asking RCMP to act as per their likings arrest hold confiscate and even use your information gathered by them with police investigation without your approvals.

Today we say stop to ICBC we call on more companies to come and operate in BC we want to create jobs by allowing fair competition.

If 4 or five auto insurance companies come to operate in BC guaranteed jobs of over 50,000 personal will be available

rates of your yearly premiums will drop from 3400$ to 700$

Inexperienced, and exhausting

Everything dealing with ICBC is a complete nightmare, every broker works on a different system, so if you go to 2 different brokers, they have no idea what is going on with a claim, if you're making a claim, if insurance on a vehicle has been cancelled or anything! It's like dealing with toddlers trying to put the square brick in the circular hole... I was in a collision and I immediately pulled over and called ICBC. My vehicle at the time, to my knowledge, was driveable and I told the agent that. 2 min later as I'm driving home, the power steering goes and I take the car to a mechanic, an ICBC certified mechanic and they take apart the front end and give me an assessment. I decide I can fix it cheaper than it would be to make a claim and tow it home, I try to cancel my insurance that same day (at broker 1) and I'm told I CAN'T and to wait a couple of weeks. Time goes by with my vehicle sitting in my backyard not driveable and I'm charged another month of insurance... same day I go to a different broker that's closer and ask them to cancel the insurance, no problem, it's done, I ask to get a refund for the month that was just charged, can't do it, I have to call ICBC, Ok... sure... quick phone call and I'm told I have to email them, I email them and I'm told to call them (see a pattern yet?). I finally get a hold of someone on the phone and they tell me because my vehicle was listed as driveable and I decided not to make a claim that they won't refund me... on top of that they tell me my insurance hasn't even been cancelled yet! Broker #2 hasn't submitted the paperwork yet (all good it's only been a week...) Useless insurance, ICBC is a monopoly on insurance that not only doesn't work but it's FORCED! You have to have ICBC to drive in BC, I would rather move back and forth from AB to BC to keep my 6 months of AB insurance. Moving back to Alberta ASAP where efficiency isn't just a theory...

I believe ICBC should be OUT OF BC no questions asked. They expect us to pay and pay but still can barely afford anything. Shame on them for ruining lives for years. Degenerates. You all should be locked up and homeless

THIEVES - BUYER BEWARE

If I could have given 0 stars I would have!!! These guys are an absolute joke! One, they charge an arm and a leg for insurance, but when you don't have much competition, I guess you can do whatever you want. I moved back to ON (where my insurance is 1/2 the price, I might add) but these idiots will not cancel my insurance because the plates have not arrived yet - prob because of the postal strike atm … so instead of just charging me the cost of the plates (not even sure why I need to send them back since, um, I paid for them!!), no, they are telling me that my policy cannot be cancelled until the plates are surrendered, so I now have to pay an additional month of insurance - insurance, by the way, I do not need and they will not cover if I do have an accident since I now have ON insurance … so I do not know legally how they are allowed to charge another month of insurance (and deny a request for cancellation) when they are providing me with NO service! They are thieves and frauds!

money grab

I was driving a drunk friend home 2 years ago and he briefly put his upper half out of the window when I got pulled over and ticketed for 800$. After I paid that fine, I was told I still have to pay 650$ every year on my birthday for the next 3 years. So because of my drunk friend's silly little mistake, I have to pay almost 3000$ to ICBC over multiple years. Complete scam. Highway robbery, cash grab so they can pay their CEO’s more money than they can spend. ICBC needs to go. I’d move away in a heartbeat if I didn't have this bill looming over me.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Came after ME

I was hit by a driver in the States who has ICBC insurance. It was a hit and run, she hit me and took off. I called the police and they tracked her down in heavy traffic. She told ICBC it wasn't her fault even though the pictures of damage to my car showed it was her fault as did a police report. I ended up having to pay for the damage to my car through my un-insured motorist. The claim was filed as both of us being at fault since she lied about it. She must have had damage to her car because 2 YEARS later ICBC sent me a bill for over $1,600.00 for her repairs even though both a police report and my insurance company determined it was her fault. My insurance company is fighting this. I am appalled that an insurance company would operate in this manner! I just read that they have filed losses of almost a billion dollars. Going after me for $1,600.00 is not going to save them from themselves!

forced pay $378 dispute claim

My father was involved in a motor vehicle accident that was staged. An east Indian male accused my father of rear-ending his red pickup truck. If you don't believe it, google my review title as the story was covered on CTV news. I went ahead and performed an FOI request to the city. The traffic footage showed a driver in a red pickup truck purposely reversing into my father's vehicle while waiting to make a left-hand turn at an intersection on a red light. I was furious and wasn't about to let the driver of the red pickup get away with it. I reached out to ICBC regarding the incident after I performed an FOI. The ICBC adjuster tried to accuse me of fabricating video evidence in my attempt to blame the other driver. I told the ICBC adjuster that he's on crack. I told the ICBC adjuster that he needs to do an FOI to obtain the video from the city or repay the $378 fee that the city charged my father for the video. The adjuster refused to do an FOI and to compensate my father for the video footage and then threatened to blame my father 100% for the accident. So I responded in kind. I reached out to CTV News and that is how the claim was eventually foiled. In the end, ICBC never performed an FOI but reimbursed my father for $378. ICBC is very lucky this did not happen to me as I was not the driver as I would have gotten a lawyer and sued ICBC for $10,000,000 for accusing me of fabricating video evidence and then trying to blame this on me without any evidence other than a word of some east Indian male driver. If I had an option for another insurance company, I would never insure my vehicle with ICBC. ICBC are legalized crooks!

Thieves

ICBC is the biggest scam in BC history. Pay your money to them for YEARS without any tickets or any issues at all, then BAM - get a ticket. Not only do you pay for the ticket itself...but then you pay a DPP penalty depending on how many points your tickets for the year incurred THEN, on top of that, you also get an increase to your insurance. So for the two tickets I received in the last 12 months ($365 and $165), I had to pay the tick amounts, $360 DPP penalty fine, and an extra $100 on my insurance for the year...so we're talking $1000 paid total so far, and the tickets themselves were only $530 of that. Unbelievable...especially considering before these last 12 months, I hadn't received a single ticket in several years. Not one single ticket. Not one single accident I was at fault for. Nothing. Such a joke of a company.

I'm having to pay for insurance for a year and I drove for 3 weeks. Was in a car accident, didn't know better about cancelling my policy. My fault, but I still can't believe I have to pay 3000.00 for literally no reason. Also, customer service rep I talked to was so mean.
