We need competitors

by Icbcsucks on Jul 13, 2019

Inefficient, ineffective, arrogant, rude, and that's just the employees. Don't get me started on the company. They want your thousands every year but treat you like a criminal when you make a claim even when it's not even your fault! Why don't we have more competitors?

low ball offer

It has been 2 weeks since my dad is without a vehicle and the estimator for ICBC came with a below-average (very low ball offer). After emailing him yesterday about what I am expecting for the vehicle, he still didn't respond.

Worst company ever

by Hbc1366 on Jul 4, 2019

ICBC is the worst company ever I’ve seen. Poor customer service, no accurate procedure to identify fraud claims, and very expensive. Why we should have the ICBC monopoly in BC and no other insurance company is allowed to compete with them? That’s why they charge people whatever they want! They don’t have any competitor!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Horrible and disgusting

Changed bank accounts and ICBC didn't upset system, when called in, changed my address in the system, though. So, when I realized issue called into account services were was told to $645 to resolve the issue. I paid in cash but put the receipt in insurance paperwork. This was a month a half ago, Friday, I went down to the car only to discover my plates were removed, insurance paperwork was removed and note from ICBC that I had to pay $1900. Called ICBC, where I had to wait on hold for half hour only to be told it was my fault and even if I did go pay the $1900 plus bailiff fees I wouldn't be able to renew my insurance. I was only behind a month in payments, again, because they didn't update the banking info I submitted. Have now spoken to two supervisors who have blamed Canada post for me not receiving any notices, the bailiff they hired for stealing things from my car, the insurance broker for ICBC system not showing my payment and my fault. The agents were rude and mean to me.

Monopolized scam

Every time I receive ICBC renewal notice I am reminded that this is one big monopolized scam in BC. The rates are so damn high and there are absolutely no options to go anywhere else.

We decided NOT to move to BC

by Try-to-move-there on May 11, 2019

We did our research about moving to BC and finally called the Insurance Company for a quote, the ICBC. They told us we have to use only the ICBC insurance if we want to settle in BC. They gave us a quote: few dollars shy $2000 after 28 years driving in Canada plus the home insurance at a different company. We have decided not to move BC. NO THANKS, we don’t need your services...

Need other options

There's the money hungry ICBC. Don't give me any garbage about getting optional insurance elsewhere. I have no options but pay ICBC for my basic insurance. I dislike the idea of giving a single penny to ICBC. Then I have to hear about bonuses and their pay rates. They absolutely do not deserve any pay rate increase and certainly no bonus. I haven't had a ticket in 40 years and no claim for about the same. I'm fed up with ICBC. I want other options!

Thieves

ICBC is the biggest scam in BC history. Pay your money to them for YEARS without any tickets or any issues at all, then BAM - get a ticket. Not only do you pay for the ticket itself...but then you pay a DPP penalty depending on how many points your tickets for the year incurred THEN, on top of that, you also get an increase to your insurance. So for the two tickets I received in the last 12 months ($365 and $165), I had to pay the tick amounts, $360 DPP penalty fine, and an extra $100 on my insurance for the year...so we're talking $1000 paid total so far, and the tickets themselves were only $530 of that. Unbelievable...especially considering before these last 12 months, I hadn't received a single ticket in several years. Not one single ticket. Not one single accident I was at fault for. Nothing. Such a joke of a company.

Outrages Rates

I have a conservative 2010 Honda Civic. My ICBC insurance renewal arrived and I am being charged $1532 for a year's worth of insurance, with "congratulations - you've earned a total estimated savings of $1490...". I am 72 and have a clean driving record. $1532 is ridiculous. Can you imagine if the $1490 "discount" had not been applied? ICBC is a rip-off, a money grab. Why should they be the only game in town? Open up BC to other insurance companies for competition.

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Oh man :(

I'm having to pay for insurance for a year and I drove for 3 weeks. Was in a car accident, didn't know better about cancelling my policy. My fault, but I still can't believe I have to pay 3000.00 for literally no reason. Also, customer service rep I talked to was so mean.
