I don’t recommend!

Save yourself the headaches and don’t apply for this card. This is the most inconvenient card to apply for. Customer service is not the best and using the card is difficult (ex. Taps not being accepted or not successfully changing your information).
I initially joined for the promo they had for 10,000 optimum points after signing up and it was terrible from the start. My application took a while and when I received my card they gave me the wrong card. So I had to call them again to get the correct one I was approved for which took a while to come again. So overall the application process took two months!
Then when using the card their mobile application doesn’t post your pending statements on time causing you to pay more than you need to.
Also, when trying to change pin codes it would never work! I tried to change my pin code and my account got locked at the checkout when trying to purchase groceries with my new pin!
Also, when trying to reset my password on the mobile application it never worked and I would have to sign in to the website to do it which is super inconvenient!
Lastly, when tapping in groceries stores it would never get accepted and I would have to insert it all the time! Even for purchases below $100. I searched the grocery store and the tap limit is $100 so was my $70 transaction not accepted?!
Now I’m on hold waiting for a customer representative to see if there are any changes that were made.

Heed the warnings and stay far, far away from this card.

FRUSTRATING customer service. If you enjoy spending hours on hold and a website that doesn't work, by all means, get this card.
I haven't used the card because the first time they sent it, it didn't arrive. I sat on hold for an hour to be told "sit tight - it's probably going to arrive in the next day or two!".
Three weeks later, still hadn't arrived. I sat on hold for another hour to be told "we'll send you another card!"
The card finally arrived.
I try to activate it online, fill out everything, get the message "The system is unavailable. Try again in 10-15 minutes".
Tried the chat feature. It's a bot that cannot answer any but the most basic questions.

What a stressful experience

by CJ on Nov 20, 2021

I signed up for this card after being approached by one of their representatives at No Frills.
When I got the card, it was next to impossible to activate it online, so I called customer service. In all, I was on hold for almost 3 hours spread over as many days before I managed to get someone.
I found their website user-unfriendly. You can't even change your user name without getting someone on the phone, which is very difficult.
After reading these comments, I decided to close the account. Activating a credit card and getting a CSR on the phone should be seamless, but definitely wasn't.
Avoid this card, it's too much trouble.

Application

Applied for a credit card and was refused, with no reason given for refusal other than a list of generic and non-specific factors. Not very professional but I can accept that. The tone of the letter was what troubled me: it was needlessly dismissive and disrespectful. I got the feeling they were perturbed by having to deal with an applicant - so I won't be bothering them again on that account.

Unable to activate cards

by dontneedthecredit on Sep 29, 2021

I was security flagged for some reason after I had received the cards and was unable to activate them because when logging on to the PC Financial app as it was restricted. Called and waited and waited. Sent in my supporting documentation. Waited 3 weeks, tried to log in but still Access Restricted. Was told that my documentation did not check out!!! I've lived in the same owned home for over 30 years, I'm employed by the same employer for over 20 years and have excellent credit. Something is not making sense here. They solicited me to get the card, I thought I'd use it to collect more points - I don't need any more credit. Makes me suspicious of their intentions quite frankly. And the agent I spoke to on the 2nd occasion confirmed that I was flagged for something and that it was not random as I was told on the first call. Sounds like a lot of trouble to have a PC Mastercard! So it all worked out in the end.

Horrible Service at PC MC

by Rob Webster on Aug 10, 2021

I applied for a PCF Mastercard. The card was forwarded to me at my new address and Canada Post refused to deliver it or return it to the sender. Then I called PCF and changed my address. They sent the card, but my file went to the security department who put a lock on my account. As a result, when I received the card, I could NOT activate it. They asked for proof of my new address which I sent immediately, then they asked for 5 days to read their email. I gave them 5 days. Then I called them. They informed me they would need another 2 days to read it. I gave them 2 days. Now I am tired of all their lies/dishonesty and will be destroying their credit card.

Customer Service

When I signed up for this card I selected that I want the payment to come from my checking account, not my savings account. But they started to take it out of my savings anyways and then blamed me that I filled out the form wrong and told me to resubmit it. So I did, correctly (again), and they still took it out of the wrong account anyways. After 3 calls over the next 3 months, they continued to assure me the problem would be fixed, and they continued to take the money from the wrong account. Always making me feel like I've made a mistake or misunderstood something. It blows my mind how after months they cannot fix such a simple issue. I do not recommend this card to anyone.

They are scammers

by freedoms on Mar 5, 2020

I had a PC Mastercard 17 years ago, but I stopped using it 14 years ago. Because my last PC Master was scammed. Then, they sent me a letter. According to the letter, they would close my account, because there was no transaction for the last six months. So, I cut my last PC Mastercard. I paid for all the purchases. 17years later, I applied for PC Mastercard. They denied my application form. I called customer services... I waited for 30mins. According to them, I owe the company money. That's why they denied my application. I didn't know that I owed them money although I paid for everything! They haven't contacted me for 14years! Even though I questioned them, they didn't give me answers. They just gave me many excuses... My last Mastercard account closed completely, but I still have to pay for roughly $900. They couldn't do anything, even though I paid all my purchases off 14 years ago. I don't know where the $900 came from! I'm waiting for the $900 bill from PC Mastercard now. I recommend others never have PC Mastercard.

Asked too much info

by CraftyDev on Feb 19, 2020
2 out of 5 stars

I have called about 8 times now and each time they ask me for more and more information and than say I will be good to activate the next time I call and I call and they transfer me to a specialist. Why they are called specialist? They ask for a bunch of my info and yet my account is still not open. At this point when I call back tomorrow, I'm going to say I don't want to activate it and not worry about it. Because literally, a dog could give me better information. Sorry guys but you do not help at all I have had my card for almost two weeks.

Incompetent customer service

by ReadTheFinePrint on Mar 20, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

This company has pestered me to apply for their PC Financial MC. In an attempt to contact them for clarification of card features and application process when they sent me a pre-approval form, I was met with far more additional application hoops than originally indicated despite an impeccable record. I received multiple different answers from different customer service sources and honestly, there was so much lack of ability to follow up on my inquiries I requested no further communication from them. This was ignored and STILL, they repeatedly sent me junk mail. I have requested yet again to remove me from their contact. Absolutely a gong show. To anyone thinking of applying. Make sure you read ALL the fine print on this card as the rewards are far less than what it appears on their promo materials. Thankful I never got this card. Happy to continue on with my other products instead.
