Online site is worthless

by going elsewhere for credit on Dec 5, 2018

I do all of my banking online. Not the safest way to bank but my job had me travelling a lot and I needed to be able to do banking this way. The PC Mastercard site is garbage. I ALWAYS HAD TROUBLE LOGGING ON. Now with their new enhanced security, they are forcing you to use Google Chrome according to the customer service rep I spoke to since I cannot log on with Firefox. Google already knows way too much about me just cause I use Android, they don't need to know my CC history as well. I am paying off my balance and cancelling my card. If a large corporation cannot develop a site that works with ALL browsers, how secure is it really?

So far only good experience

I'm writing this review because there are almost only bad reviews with these cards, and I have a completely different experience. I have this card because no big bank (TD or RBC) wanted to give me, a newcomer without a credit history, the credit card. I'm with this card for about 2 years. Once I lost the credit card, probably at the gas station, and realized 1 day after. There were already some transactions on my card I didn't recognize. Presidents Choice had no problem to cancel all these transactions. Second positive experience I had just now. We bought flight tickets with Primera Airlines, which went bankrupt. All we had to do was filling in a claim form and send a copy of tickets purchase via email. 4 weeks later I got the full chargeback. I was never waiting on the line more than maybe 3 minutes. Everyone was always professional and knowledgeable. To be honest with you, I didn't expect that free card can have such a good customer service. I like earning points for my groceries, I like that they are always improving their online customer panel. My friends recommended this card to me and they also have only the positive experience.

Customer Service is Appalling

Fraudulent charges from the US. I got a phone alert and immediately called. They cancelled my card and I had to wait 7-10 days for a replacement. Within an hour I get an alert that my new card is compromised. I do not have the card, do not have the number, nor have I activated it. Apparently, this is now my problem. I need to call the merchant and dispute the charges. The merchant says it isn't them but an issue from the bank. I am now stuck in limbo land. Had to lock down my card so no one can use it, not even me. I asked them to cancel this account and open me a new one and they informed me that the charges would follow me as it was a subscription service and it follows your card no matter the number. So basically, this card is now useless as I can't unlock it for fear that some other subscription service is going to be charged. Guess what...they don't care. I have a great credit score and have never carried a balance. This card will sit locked down, and I will never unlock or activate the card. Looks like another bank will be getting my business. Ever since CIBC and they parted ways, there has been nothing but data breaches, from PC Financial on credit cards and points.

Worst customer service

by CN on Oct 17, 2018

I got my PC master Card hacked and 2 transactions appeared at the same place: addiction house treatment in Kitchener basically at the same time that I was in the mall updating my cell phone. I called the customer service and they said they can’t do anything because the “purchase” was made with my card and PIN number. They cloned my card for sure, but customer service just say that their card is impossible to be hacked. Just got the card blocked and waiting for the last bill to cancel the PC credit card for good, PC master card, never again. Back to TD Visa, where the customer service works!

Terrible waiting time

by Shom on Sep 27, 2018

25-30 minutes waiting time each time I call customer service. I only use this Mastercard at selected grocery stores for points. Points are the only reason I have this card. If Costco had all grocery items, I would have shopped there to get 2% back instead of using PC Mastercard. Many years ago, my card was hacked, they had accused me of some charges and had made my life miserable for a few months. Customer service is simply horrible, this card and Canadian Tire Mastercard. Lesson: Never again subscribing for any store-based credit card.

Waste of time

I had a PC Financial card for almost three years and used it and paid in full every two weeks. Went to use my card and it was declined. Thought it was the credit machine, tried at a different store and still the same. Called customer service and my card was cancelled due to it being compromised. Now, this supposed compromise happened in July and here we are in September, no phone call to tell me and if it was compromised, why would it not being cancelled then and not 2 1/2 months after. Was told a new card was sent which I didn’t receive, but I sure get a lot of calls to increase my credit limit! Cancelled the card immediately, not worth the 10 dollars a month towards groceries

Stay away from PC MasterCard

by Tickedoff@PCFinancial on Jun 19, 2018

It is the only credit card I have used where I cannot access my OVERPAID credit card and have to wait 3-4 business days to speak to someone in security about how to unlock my account. Customer Service agents are patronizing about how they "know how frustrating this must be" and that someone will call me in 3-4 business days instead of solving the problem while my overpaid account is locked and their excuse is that I cannot remember how I set up my account to begin with. Unbelievable. An hour wait to have nothing resolved and my overpaid account still locked. If I could, I would rate it 0 stars.

Credit Card Fraud

by Leena28 on Feb 15, 2018

The reason for the bad rating is regarding security. My Grandmother's wallet was stolen from her at the Grocery store yesterday. We called the police and called all of her card companies, but PC financial was an unfortunate experience. She is old and English is not her first language and for security we aren't allowed to help her validate herself. By the end of the phone call we had been told that my grandmothers pin must have been too easy to guess as they had gotten it on the first try and we were liable for the money. It is now under investigation but just the idea that we have to worry about this when she's never even used an ATM before is really upsetting. Most of the companies assured us right away that this would be sorted and she was in no way liable. I've advised her to cancel the card after the investigation as it just isn't worth the risk if she is ever targeted in the future.
To be fair this has nothing to do with the rates or any other part of receiving a pc financial card which she really liked, just the customer service and security when banks clearly have insurance for these kinds of ordeals.
