Worst experience

by Di on Jan 4, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I strongly suggest to think twice before applying for this credit card. I've got approved online, in 5 minutes and I did receive the card two weeks later. When I had called them to activate it, they've told me that the account was closed. When I asked them the reason why they provided me with some general reasons... none of them apply to either my score nor my profile (which is in excellent condition and I was never rejected for any type of request). Later, I had searched for reviews for this card/company and have discovered that overall they received very bad feedback. You might be tempted to apply for this card based on their 6-month offer @ 0.97% but you'll end up wasting your time or even worse.... having a bad experience with them afterwards... Read the reviews before making any decision.

WORST Service!

by Grumpy on Dec 24, 2020

When you say you will call the cardholder, do it don’t just say it! I only used my card twice after I activate it, but using it on another store my card was declined! Thought you can use it anywhere?! It’s been one week but nobody is phoning me regarding my issue. Sorry, but you really have poor customer service, waited also for over a month to process my application but on your website, it says 5 to 7 business days only. You need to fix your service I guess.

MWE not living up to its name

by Ida T on Mar 15, 2021
2.3 out of 5 stars

I usually use my other cards for higher-value purchases for better benefits. The only benefit Master World Elite (MWE) is for a few groceries from buying at your store.

I am a long-standing customer of PC Financial which offered to me this Master World Elite (MWE) card that I did not even apply for.

I just got a letter saying that MWE put in a new rule to downgrade cards when a minimum of $15k/year spending is not met. If I want to get another MWE, I have to reapply. I use my other cards at other stores that offer personal shopping, deliveries, better reward points and exceptional customer services that help during this pandemic. Why would I subject myself to apply for another card especially when it's really only good for your store?

PC products and services

by Ottawa girl on Nov 6, 2017
1.5 out of 5 stars

The credit card is free and you redeem PC points. However, (1) Loblaws PC products are way more expensive than other stores. (2) I had their credit card ($1000) opened in 2009 and closed in 2013 with a zero balance. I never used it for big amounts, but I had some issues with the billing (didn't recognized a charge on my bill) and was late paying for 3 months. Paid it in full when I was tired talking to customer service with no follow up on the issue and closed the account. Now I have a perfect credit history except for that, I didn't even knew my credit was affected until I tried to get approval for a mortgage in 2017!!!

Waste of time

by Tyler McLeod on Feb 9, 2022
1 out of 5 stars

I applied for a credit card 3 months ago. I was approved and had it sent to me. I moved the day the credit cards were delivered and when I went to activate the cards I was forthcoming about this information (I waited 2 hours on the phone before I was able to speak to anyone) as I wanted another card sent to the new address for my partner to use. I was told that they could not activate the card now as I recently moved and needed to reapply with my new address. Alright fine. I reapplied within the same day after getting off the phone. I was told I needed to provide the new lease agreement so I did. I waited a month with no answer. I called back and waited on the phone (waited 3 hours this time) to be told that the information isn't correct - it was missing a signature on the lease. Nobody had called to tell me this, but alright fine. I hung up and resubmitted it within ten minutes. Two more weeks went by so I called back again and waited another 2 hours on the phone to be told that the information had not been processed and that there was no need for me to call them to follow up as they will call me when the information is processed. I doubted that, but okay. I waited another 2 weeks before calling back (another 2 hours on the phone). The man on the phone told me that they had received the documents and he put me on hold to make sure that the information was correct. He confirmed that there were signatures and that everything was correct. He told me he would put a rush order on the card as it had now been 2 months since I applied. I was told someone would call me. Three weeks later I received a call from the very same man. He was now telling me that the documents he had confirmed 3 weeks prior did not exist and that they were still waiting for me to resubmit them from 2 months ago. He said, "If you're having trouble sending the documents we can try a different form of address verification". I cancelled the application then and there. I don't understand how a company that handles money can be so unorganized. Not to mention the wait times... 2-4 hours on the phone before speaking to someone is unacceptable. Going weeks/months without receiving a call back is unacceptable. I understand it's a pandemic, but at what point do covid wait times just become an excuse for terrible customer service management? Not to mention the call representatives clearly have no idea what's going on. I received contradicting information/advice every time I talked to someone. And then to turn around and blame me for not providing the information? Man... Get it together.

Website problems and abysmal customer service

by unhappy PC customer on Dec 12, 2021

Impossible to get phone support. The activating card appears to require you to "set" i.e. change password then gives you a warning about problems you may experience with the password. The feedback tab doesn't appear to work with Edge.

I don’t recommend!

by joyce.review on Dec 5, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

Save yourself the headaches and don’t apply for this card. This is the most inconvenient card to apply for. Customer service is not the best and using the card is difficult (ex. Taps not being accepted or not successfully changing your information).
I initially joined for the promo they had for 10,000 optimum points after signing up and it was terrible from the start. My application took a while and when I received my card they gave me the wrong card. So I had to call them again to get the correct one I was approved for which took a while to come again. So overall the application process took two months!
Then when using the card their mobile application doesn’t post your pending statements on time causing you to pay more than you need to.
Also, when trying to change pin codes it would never work! I tried to change my pin code and my account got locked at the checkout when trying to purchase groceries with my new pin!
Also, when trying to reset my password on the mobile application it never worked and I would have to sign in to the website to do it which is super inconvenient!
Lastly, when tapping in groceries stores it would never get accepted and I would have to insert it all the time! Even for purchases below $100. I searched the grocery store and the tap limit is $100 so was my $70 transaction not accepted?!
Now I’m on hold waiting for a customer representative to see if there are any changes that were made.

What a stressful experience

by CJ on Nov 20, 2021
1 out of 5 stars

I signed up for this card after being approached by one of their representatives at No Frills.
When I got the card, it was next to impossible to activate it online, so I called customer service. In all, I was on hold for almost 3 hours spread over as many days before I managed to get someone.
I found their website user-unfriendly. You can't even change your user name without getting someone on the phone, which is very difficult.
After reading these comments, I decided to close the account. Activating a credit card and getting a CSR on the phone should be seamless, but definitely wasn't.
Avoid this card, it's too much trouble.
