Get a different card if you expect any client service

In October of 2017, we had booked a Europe trip for June 2018. A week later, I received a call stating that they need to reschedule or cancel. After an hour on the phone, we agreed to move our dates and they offered to upgrade us. Upon check-in, with the airline, we discovered that RBC Rewards had downgraded us to the basic economy (no checked bags, no seats together). We ended up paying an extra $300 each way for our family. We have also tried booking flights, only to discover that it would be less expensive to just book and pay for them out of pocket. We were loyal customers, but after this fiasco, we are looking at a different program.
Basic card with a high interest rate. We use it for all of our personal purchases. Okay use of points for travel rewards. Might get a different one instead.

I consider a credit card simply a commodity and do not consider the features as good or bad truly.... I like the travel rewards which is why I chose it
the points acquire quickly and are easy to redeem on their gift website. They have zero liability and good fraud protections
I'm happy with the card of Rbc rewards visa. The card is handy for buying stuff and the rates and amazing on cash back items

The insurance programs and travel rewards are great.
The issue becomes obvious if you ever need any client service. It is very hard to get answers. It is very hard to get to someone who is actually empowered to help you. In my last call, I spent an hour on the phone with support. I had a balance issue that I needed to dispute. At the end of the call, I was told I was wrong. I asked for them to send me the math that they did to come up with the point that I was wrong. They said they could not do that. i asked for the info to be put in my secure Visa mail box. They also would not do that. They said I had to go to the branch to have them do the math again. So, today I did that. 45 minutes at the branch to find out they do not have detailed access to my account, and I would have to call in for help. No one is empowered to help. Currently, in a 3 month period, I have close to $3,000 of charges that Visa will not explain to me but wants me to pay. 22.99% interest if I do not. I am now looking for a simple cash back account from a different card supplier. I hope I can find better client service.
