Calling in while sick

I called Canada Life after waiting on hold for 25 mins, the agent could not find me in the system and she tried by my name asking me if it’s a new policy I said no. I said this is taking me a lot of effort to call in as I have Covid. She put a recording through saying there is a system error and it hung up on me, making me back call in again.

Cheap but terrible

The website defaults to paper claim and setting up for online claim is very counterintuitive to the point that I needed help from someone who has done it before. The online portal showed the claim has been processed and paid but it takes a minimum of a week, sometimes two weeks to a month to get your money back. I understand why my company chooses Canada Life because it is cheap and they can say that they have benefits provided but the coverage is terrible and the service is atrocious.

Slow processing times and poor coverage

Never before have I dealt with such a horrible insurance company.
Claims always take 7+ weeks to process. Often denied until challenged then approved.
Copious hours spent on hold.
Useless and would never use if the employer didn't contract them.

Slow and awful

I've never had such a bad experience with an insurance company before. The reason I'm with Canada Life is because of my company. Each claim has taken up to a month to process, with no exaggeration. I've submitted six claims total and every single one has taken one whole month to see my money get back into my account. Phone wait times are 30-40 minutes minimum. I've also had an experience with a customer service representative who yelled at me and gave me an attitude.

Terrible

Why do we pretend like insurance companies are here for our needs and not our wallets?
It's been a month since putting in an application. Haven't heard from anyone. Multiple emails, voice messages, and emails sent to my works nurse to see if she can do something, all a waste of time.
If you work here, for god sake, find a new career and let these places die off already.

Intentionally hostile

This company is set up to intentionally be hostile, but companies sign on to them because the costs seem lower. Wait times are long or hostile on purpose this is done to reject claims or push the pay dates and save money. Unfortunately, companies get suckered into going with them due to lower costs, but then employees who deal with them are abused.

Poor customer support / Bizarre update in online

Hi,
I submitted a claim on 11th Feb 2022. Sent 4 reminder emails till today, finally they responded as declined, no reason and bizarre communication why it is declined not mentioned in the email, if we call after 30 minutes of waiting in the line they do not care and transfers from one person to another.
Please improve the response time via phone.
Please improve the web interface, it's hard to find why it is declined.
I strongly recommend not to buy this insurance. Waste of time, there is no importance to customer's time.

Canada Life no longer answers phone calls

Good luck talking to a representative of Canada Life, called about 5 different days at various times and after 1-2+ hours I had to hang up, my cell phone battery would need recharging. I tried calling the federal ombudsman, but even they weren’t answering. Does anyone remember the days when a body either answered after a few rings or you got a busy signal? NOT ANYMORE!!!!!!!

Inability to contact an actual customer service agent

I have been trying to get through to actually speak to a customer service agent.
I have been disconnected twice. I have also tried the call back function I now have been on hold for over an hour. Bigger is definitely not better!!! Is there anywhere we can go?

Don't even try to phone them. Unbelievable wait time... gave up.
