Customer Service Line sucks!

by MoneyIsOurPriorty on May 1, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Every time I call the customer service centre, they seem to be doing all they can to get me off the phone quickly, it is more important than actually solving my issue. I just read a review written by someone who used to work for Manulife stating they promote people simply by looking at the stats of who has the lowest average call time per call which explains why they try so hard to get me off the phone quick as possible. 3 times now I have called for clarification/help filling out a form and before I am even finished asking my questions they say, "thanks for calling Manulife have a good day" - annoying and terrible customer service.

Manulife has gone paperless and will not provide paper invoices.

Just terrible practice for the money that you pay for service (laugh-NO SERVICE)

Crappy decision, not a happy camper.....

denied short term disability

by pppppp on Apr 3, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

Their forms are not easy to interpret so if your doctor does not fill out their forms correctly, they will deny your claim without seeking clarification or additional information. I advised the Manulife representative my doctor wrote my medical symptoms on the wrong page but it clearly states I've been sick due to pregnancy and should be off a certain period of time. I have a scheduled vacation coming up which I was told but Manulife I cannot travel aboard and appeal the case at the same time, eventhough the doctor approved of my sick leave up until my vacation time, which at that point he expects me to be better. This is on the verge of discrimination and I will be contesting their treatment of my case as they are causing undue hardship by not taking reasonable steps to assess and process my claim.

They should be jailed

by Beyond frustrated on Mar 22, 2017

I can't even log in to their site. After days of trying to just register and calling them multiple times being told to try different browsers. I'm on day 3 of just trying to submit my physio claim. Asked if I could do it over the phone. They gave me the wrong email address after she confirmed each letter I read back to her. The second guy told me a letter was wrong and then I got disconnected. The second email was also wrong. A third party told me the first email was right but I didn't put the needed code which was not given to me by the first 2 people. And the Web site still is not working. I'm wondering how these con artists are not in jail and I'm stuck paying 400 bucks a month for physio and I have no way of submitting my claim. Having to suffer with my illness is hard enough, now I need to worry about how I can pay for my mortgage this month. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Waste of money

by Unknown on Mar 18, 2017

We have been paying into Manulife for over a year. In total we have given them over $2400.00. The other day I had to go refill my prescription for my diabetes. I was told that my plan was capped at a $1000.00 and I had reached my limit. So I had to pay full price. And for those who don't know, insulin is NOT cheap. So the money that we have spent on Manulife was a waste of money. They don't reset the plan until September 1st. So in other words we would have to pay 220.00 a month for a plan that we can't use and 200.00 for my medication. What a rip off. Manulife is not worth any amount of money you put into it.

Manulife worst insurer

by unhappy manulife customer on Mar 16, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

My online account is often inaccessible.
Not all claims are accepted online and don't expect to see an error or alert message on the screen. Just a regular text saying that your claim was no submitted which is wery easy to skip and if you don't pay attention you may wait few weeks until you realize that something is wrong.
If client service call you back to follow up on your issues then you are a very lucky person.
They will play dumb: won't see some details in invoices and will ask you to call them back when you have additional: diagnosis/procedures names or codes/doctor graduation etc. You call and they will say that the information they requested cannot be accepted by phone and will ask you to send it by... Fax! (fax in 2017 ?!?!) After they make you a favor and agree to accept scanned documents by e-mail you better make sure the attached files are in pdf. Even the way you attach the files is important. Drag and drop in gmail didn't work for me, they couldn't see the attachment - use "Attach files" button. And don't be surprised if at the end they will tell you the service is not covered.

SCAMMERS

Manulife has the worst customer service I have ever seen. Do not use them as they are a bunch of scammers and do everything in their power to make you jump through hoops to end up getting you nowhere. What a useless insurance company

Will not reimburse for drugs

by manulifesucks on Mar 5, 2017
1 out of 5 stars

This company is by far the worst insurance company I've dealt with. In order to get reimbursed for drugs you have to fill out 2 page long forms and PHYSICALLY mail them (yes you have to pay for postage as well) just so they can review and maybe pay you. Manulife doesn't allow forms to be submitted online because they want to make as much hassle for their clients as possible so their clients don't even bother submitting anything.
