Never again

by jamie on Sep 23, 2019

I will make it short. The company put an accident on my driver file four years ago. Unfortunately it was not mine. Once I located the issue I spent three months probably 10 hours with various individuals who were rude uncooperative and usually did not call back. Only through my efforts I finally get a refund $1932.28. I requested compensation with interest on the overpayment. Their answer was - thank you for correcting their error and helping to teach their staff. Basically get lost.. NEVER EVER AGAIN WITH ECONOMICAL!

Mistreated client

I was shorted rental vehicle time that I had plenty of in my policy and as a result, ended up having to pay the remainder rental cost. Almost 2 weeks out of pocket. I'm so bothered!! Then I was forced to wait for my cheque because of a mix-up between the body shop and the adjuster leaving me to take on a loan when the cheque amount would have covered the down payment on my new vehicle. The first months payment of my new vehicle could have been paid with the money I will now need to pay for the rental. So please understand my frustration!

Cheap payment, they paid about 8000 to fix my car and when they renewed my policy, they rose from $3700 premium to $18000 premium. I want all people do not buy this insurance with this company!

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Bad Experience

Never speak to the same person twice. The amount of things that were written down in their notes and was not said to be was horrendous. This lack of communication ended up costing me almost another $1000 out of my own pocket. Don't trust what they say, fact-check everything. Also, realize that your insurance broker is probably paid through commission, so it makes sense for himself to maximize your claim. Take heed, these people are the scum of the earth.

Impoosible to speak to a rep.

Waited 55 minutes and gave up. Several tries - the same. Must only have one person on their call center. We made the mistake of paying in full on our credit card then cancelled before the policy took effect. Cannot get it reversed, instead, they will mail a check in 30 days. Got a 40% better rate from CAA for both home and auto. Even our broker said they were useless to communicate and deal with.

Poor Insurance provider.

I was rear-ended and my car was written off after owning my car less than 3 months. Family (Economical) tried to lowball my claim even after spending countless hours and providing multiple sources of proof as to the value of my car. At the end, I was still woefully out a good chunk of my original purchase price. Upon my renewal of my comprehensive insurance (not that I was ever going to deal with these guys again) my broker informed me that Family would have been charging me approximately double (no, I'm not exaggerating) what I ended up paying from a provider I was referred to deal with. GOOD RIDDANCE !!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Worse insurance company ever !

I only gave them one star because I can’t give them zero. This is by far the worst insurance company to ever deal with. They are all liars and do not return your calls, And their mechanics they recommend “fix auto” messed up my car. A week after me getting my car back I come to find out the engine light is on and had to put $700 in the car for the first time since I owned it. Secondly, they told me they switched the front tire. The first thing my mechanic said to me was my front tires were bald. Then I came to them about another part that didn’t match the other side of my car and he told me the left side is not supposed to match the right side. When I approached the insurance company about all this, they basically discredited everything I said and stood behind the lying mechanics and lying employees! Horrible customer service, horrible corporation, nowhere close to accommodating, misleading in every way! This company should be shut down for good! Disgusting how a corporation that’s designed to protect people could be run soooo poorly!!! P.S.: this is my 4th insurance company I am not new to auto insurance and this one by far takes the win !!!

No good, rip off people, stay away!! If you have a claim, get a lawyer to deal with them or they will just beat around the bush 'till you do.

Auto Claim

by Tim on Jun 29, 2016

I had a car accident, I was not at fault. A SUV hit the back of my car. I put in a claim. I went to my body shop I do business with and they said it a write off. So I said to the insurance company and they said to take it to their body shop, so I did. One week later the claim department phoned me back and said the car not a write off. I explained about the car is going sideways down the road and the frame broken and they said give 700$ if I do want to repair the car. I said I cant get a another car for 700$. The car is a 05 Chev Malibu worth 2500$. So I said to claim department, I have to drive my family in a unfit car.
