I had an accident in New York State on March 23, 2022, at 8 pm. I called Economical at 6 am on March 24 to report it. A nice Afterhours agent took the information and gave me a temp claim number. Told me to wait on the claim adjuster’s phone call and not leave Buffalo, NY to go back home to Canada.
I called Economical at about 1:30 pm on March 24 as I had not received a call from an adjuster. I ended up giving much of the same accident information a second time but the call ended up with “I’m sorry but I (the agent on the phone) can not get you a rental vehicle because the system won’t allow it.” Again, I was instructed to wait till an adjuster called. I was given a claim number this time.
We had a person drive us to the entrance of the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls, NY. We walked across to Canada and then arranged an Uber ride home to Hamilton, Ontario.
Our insurance broker called on March 25 to see how it was going and instructed me to get my own rental vehicle which I did and keep all receipts.
Saturday, March 26. Still have not received a phone call from an adjuster.
So basically, don't believe promises of 24/7 emergency assistance from Economical Insurance: it doesn’t exist!!!
Please do not use this insurance. They are awful. We had an accident on January 11, now is March 10th, nothing happens in our process. They don't even answer an email or phone call.
I don't know where to start. With the good, I think. This was my first claim ever in my 30years driving. My representative was perfect on my first call. Had me feeling confident that everything would be fine. It's been over a year my truck isn't completely done. I get the challenges of having to communicate via email or text but my truck was brand new with brand new suspension rims and tires I had done at the local Chevy dealer. Hit a snowbank at 30km/h maybe. I was assured by my representative that the body shop gave priority to econ. Claims. 4.5 months later after I was calling once every two weeks for updates they tell me to come to get my truck its ready. I get the invoice copy and we walk outside. 4th item on the list full factory front skid plate. Never hurts to look. So I looked. It still had the scuffs and scratches from the ice. It wasn't even ordered. The passenger side mirror had no cap so I had 1 white one black mirror. Looked at the rims and they weren't even washed. 3 center caps were broken and one was gone. Rims were scuffed scratched etc we sort it out I hop in my truck start it and every warning and engine light were on. I just finished telling me it just got back from a laser alignment and QC. I reported this to my representative via email I still have said the shop was going to Bill them for parts not even ordered. Not one reply! I finally contacted another representative who was great again. First call. My truck still isn't completely done and it's over a year and no communication from anyone. I thought this is why I got the extra third-party insurance. Absolute trash. Does anyone know what else I can do?
Worst experience ever. My car was stolen and recovered 3 days later. After multiple attempts ( voicemails and emails), 5 days later is when the adjuster got back to me. After that, it took another 3 days to respond to my questions about missing items from the car. A month later I was finally told my car was a write-off and was made an offer. That was almost 2 weeks ago am still waiting for my check. The adjuster won't answer my calls or respond to my emails.
I am currently sitting on day 31 since my car was stolen on Boxing Day and have yet to receive a settlement. My experience with Sonnet and Economical has been the absolute worst customer experience of my life. Throughout this whole horrible process I have called, messaged, chatted and emailed Sonnet and Economical customer representatives and my adjuster countless times and all I get is no response, empty promises of call-backs and supposed escalation that goes nowhere. When I finally spoke with my adjuster after countless complaints and resorting to Twitter, she told me the claim would be wrapped up by the end of the week but that was 10 days ago. I've been calling and emailing her directly for the past 10 days but she will not return calls or emails. If you're needing insurance don't run to the quick online deal through Sonnet. Support your local brick and mortar companies that actually have people you can go in and see who will answer your calls when you call and who will actually be the insurance you need for your car and sanity.
The worst insurance company that I’ve ever worked with. They are just raising prices and don’t care about customers. I’m waiting for a response on my claim already 3 months. I provided all the information that’s been asked. I found it myself even though it was in their system. I visited the police department 3 times to get it, and nothing happened. It is terrible. Would never recommend this company.
They are sooo much careless and don’t know what going on at their desk as well. They are handling the claim but didn’t know how to proceed it in a proper way
Hail damage 7/2, claim with Sonnet. Few calls later: body shop appt on 08/09 (ugh 5 weeks). 8/5, $1100+ into a new ECM and battery. Sept: weekly emails/ calls to "adjuster" go ignored. Send email to all stating FIFTH REQUEST as subject; windshield damage expanded, not safe, tires required for winter if keeping. "Adjuster" emails saying not her file, contact ** (no contact info). More emails. 10/05 told no damage report yet; call body shop. Days later, adj says "total loss". Ask about retention as cosmetic. A week later sent what they call comparable sales 100s of km away (higher mileage, months ago, the market is tight used now). Send 4 current, local ads; told their valuation is "independent"/non-negotiable. More emails; finally get a settlement offer letter on October 13. Sent registration & signed document back same day. Not in agreement; accepted to move on. October 26; email sent asking if they need anything else from me. Waiting
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
It has been 3 1/2 weeks since I submitted my claim for my vehicle.
The reputable auto repair shop (over 50 years of quality service in our city) requested an independent appraiser to come and see the vehicle.
We are still waiting for an adjuster.
Nothing has been done to repair our vehicle as of yet.
NO claim should take this long to resolve.
It's funny that the insurance company takes their premiums without hesitation, but it takes forever for them to follow through with their end of the policy.
Stay tuned.....
9 weeks to process claim, 1 week since completed claim documents and still have not received any money
