When I first got my Jeep, it was a used lifted Jeep, so I went to get a quote for this Jeep because they do things for service members but was denied. However, when I went to the parent company, they said that they would insure.
I was paying $160 a month including the car and residential insurance, I've had no accidents, a single speeding ticket that was 2 years ago, and they increased my premium to $234. Never going to come back!
They have been double dipping my payments for over a year from two different institutions. I switched banking and they kept withdrawing from old account. I am trying to send them the documentation and have requested an email address so they can see what I am talking about. Been going in circles now for 30 minutes. Oh, did I mention that I can not sign onto my online customer portal?
I made a small claim on my house insurance after the recent ice storm (spring 2023) for damage to the shed. Processing was fast and on-line. Just recently got the renewal policy for the house insurance and the premium has gone up $550 plus taxes. They will not entertain any changes to the premiums unless I increase the deductible to $1,000 (for everything) which reduces the annual premium by $88. BTW: I have two cars; trailer and two houses with The Personal. That will change. I am onto comparison shopping. Have been with The Personal for over thirty years. So much for that.
Got a letter from them on April 8, 2022, stating that special discount for the armed forces. So today I obtained the quote for my own insurance and got a ridiculous quote of $164 per month for a 2012 Acura TL used for pleasure only i.e. not for work. I called to get a quote for the additional 3 drivers in the family, I was quoted $ 243. My current insurance is $143. I am mesmerized by how can they use Armed forces time like this. I request Paul Douglas, VP of The Personal to look into and stop sending such letters to the Canadian Armed Forces as it is the worse teamwork and potential customer experience.
Thank you
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have been a customer of the Personal Insurance company for almost a decade now. I am a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and this insurance company advertises itself to the CAF community that it takes extra care of the CAF members. I put in a claim for a car accident and after a week it was still radio silence from the claim adjuster. Every time I called the claim adjuster I got a voicemail that she would call back and she never does.
The premium is always up for no reason even if you don't have any claim. If you have a claim, then it's even worse.
I've had my cars (truck and wife's car), a motorcycle, and my home with them for the past 6 years. Every year you kind of expect a small increase, and they were never more than 1%. However, this year on the renewal, it jumped 11%. No claims and no change to driving records. I ditched for Johnson's insurance. Auto was the same but house ins. was $400 cheaper with better flood coverage even.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Concerned with a significant increase to our premiums, we decided to shop around, and also gave the Personal a chance to tender more competitive pricing. Their answer: they had no further discounts to apply to our policy. Our answer: say goodbye to customers who have been with you for close to 30 years; customers who will enjoy saving close to $1,000 with their new provider!

The Personal Insurance pushes the mobile app to 'reduce' your monthly rates. They don't tell you that it's punitive. I am over 50, perfect driving record with daily commute of 4 km. I get a notification email that changes were made to my policy. Yep, my insurance went up $56 for no reason. No tickets to justify, I could have been a passenger in another car. I tried to contest it, and they did not want to hear it. I cancelled my 24 yr relationship with this company and at no point did they try to keep my business.
