Like everyone who has written a review. I have great credit and they wouldn't increase my limit for a large purchase. Not happy. 8000 is not enough limit to get any real cash back rewards
I called to find out previous purchase information from 1 year and 9 months ago, gave the exact date of purchase and they could not provide that information, they wanted to physically mail the document but cannot tell me over the phone. Mailing the document takes 30 days, not efficient whatsoever. DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!!

After reading the reviews on the page, I can see I am not the only one this has happened to. Same deal re: vacation. They blocked me due to ‘fraudulent’ speculation. Told me that it is unblocked. Tried again ‘denied’ - called back and the guy that answered the phone said his system was slow that he will forward me to another rep. I said I hope you not going to put me on hold again. He assured me I would get to speak to another rep after getting forwarded. As you can assume I was redirected back into the queue. Great! So waiting again and got another rep who said that she will update my info i.e.: phone number so this would help - I tried and again denied. Then she said that it isn’t her side, it must be the website or airline that's blocking me. I said that why would they block me, it is Capital ONE that is saying something is wrong, not the website. Tried the next day and same deal: can't make a purchase, tried another Credit Card and bam - it had no issues whatsoever. Don’t bother with the cash back rewards - better not wasting your energy and time.
They keep restricting my card when I go on vacation at the worst times. I can't unrestrict on my own, so I have to call. I was on hold for an hour and thirty minutes when I finally got through. You need to speak with the security department I'm told, but they closed 30 minutes ago. Thankfully, the hotel broke the policy and let us check in without the card for incidentals, otherwise, we would be sleeping in the car after having prepaid for a room. Cancelling when I get home and will rethink keeping my Costco membership as this partnership has soured me on Costco as well.
Very poor customer service and they will purposefully allow you to go slightly over credit limit in order to ding you an exorbitant penalty.

I still can not forgive Costco for switching to Capital One !!! How Costco could choose a company with so low rating unless they wanted to go down to the same level !!!??? Customer service are very week and slow, after you do your payment, it takes forever to get money on the account ( for comparison - Amex I pay at the end of the day, next morning will get an e-mail confirmation that they received my payment), and e-mails - it is another fun part. I have to get e-mail alert if any big transactions go on my card, so they do not send it anymore but even when I was getting them, it was useless because they send it 3 DAYS after the transaction. And try to increase your limit ... Do not waste your time, the answer is NO every time, and you know why ... " You do not use your card enough, you use your card too much, try to call us in 12 months " ... I wanted to close this card 2 years ago, too bad I didn't, but I am doing it in January as soon as I get my cash back. 4 years - I think I was waiting enough for improvements I am giving 0 stars !!!
1. Regularly blocking transactions because of 'fraud'. As a result, missed out on some limited Black Friday deals. They do this regularly on me. One would think they would learn my spending habits, but they don't. 2. Won't let me increase my limit. 'Our computers have determined you don't qualify for an increase in limit... please try again a year from now'. Hello, whatever happened to doing a credit check? No, if their computer says no, they won't do that. The only reason I keep them is their link to Costco with the cashback. They do have one nice feature - the auto pay feature from my bank account each month.
I switched to Capital One Master Card when Costco ended its partnership with Amex, so I have had this card for the past 3-4 years. I use this card for my business expenses. I have tried to increase my credit limit twice and both times have been rejected. On one occasion I was asked why I needed the increase. I told them I was planning to make a purchase that would put me over my limit. Still, they denied my request and couldn't care less. When asked why, was told I don't use my card enough and that my monthly spending is low and rarely reached the limit. HUH? I have always paid the balance on time as I do with my other 5 credit cards with a much higher limit than Capital One's. Are they expecting customers to spend up to the limit every month in order to consider granting a credit limit increase? Really, it is not Capital One's business how much I spend. If I ask for a credit increase, it is because I need it. Do they realize that while the average person's monthly spending is lower than the limit, there will be the occasional months where you have that extra expense that puts you over the limit? At first, I couldn't find a logical reason for their policy but found out their strategy after receiving my latest statement. On the months that you go over your limit, they will charge you an "OVER LIMIT FEE" of $29. And remember, once you go over your limit, you cannot continue charging more purchases to your credit card. So it's simple...they don't increase your limit and make an extra buck from you. Well done, Capital One...I have started using another MC with double the credit limit and you will not have me as a customer as soon as I receive my cash rebate. Shame on Costco for not doing their homework and partnering with a shameless company that would care less about their customers.

I had my new membership and had asked both Costco and Capital One numerous times to update it. I had to travel back and forth while neither party would take responsibility on their faults. I was at Costco over 5 times to deal with this and called Capital One on more than 5 occasions to try and get thing resolved. Nobody did anything until my time run out and Capital One cancelled my card along with $180 reward I had on it. No apology, nobody takes responsibility. Over the course of 2 months, all I got was the runaround. Absolutely disgusting customer service.
When booking a holiday I was reported that my Cosco Capital One platinum credit card was refused because I was over my limit. I checked my billing on the website and it was clear that I was not over my limit or even close to it. I called Capital One and after 10 minutes finally spoke to an agent who then had to refer me to the security department. Another five-minute wait and I got to talk to the security agent who said it was rejected as being possibly fraudulent and that the travel company I was booking through had a record of being involved with such claims. They seem an unlikely target because people are booking trips which the authorities can readily check on, but I couldn't refute it. Then I asked why they had not sent me an email asking me if this was a little legitimate charge. Their answer was that I had not checked the right boxes in the notification menus for my web account. I found when I went back and checked my account, there was only one box I had not checked and that has nothing to do with receiving notification for a possible fraudulent charge. So either the agent was lying or was himself confused. Like many, I have been refused an increase in my limit even though I have had to make additional payments during the billing cycle to avoid going over the limit. I believe the ratings Capital One has received on the site are well learned.
