lack of Customer Service

Every time I call for an issue it never gets resolved. The customer service department is not trained or knowledgeable about the business, they only read off a script and say sorry. Last time I called asking to cancel a transaction (fraudulent) I was told I have to wait 15 days while the company I wanted to purchase from has my Credit Card info. With another card, all I have to do is text them and it's done! Horrible service. This Credit Card gets cancelled.

Only for its great cash back

I got my card blocked 3 times within a couple months for supposedly fraudulent transactions. Every time I had to call wait for the agent, answer all the security questions + transactions one by one for the last 7 days, then got transferred to the security centre and restart the process again security questions, transactions one by one for the last 7 days, then got my card unblocked. The best waiting time was 50 mins, the worst was over 2h 30 minutes and I was at the cashier of Costco. I did an official complaint at Costco customer service about Capital One the same day. I can tell you Costco cares. This problem seems to be resolved as I receive now an email asking if I recognize the possibly fraudulent transactions and I can respond by email without anything else to do. Like many other reviewers, I also got refused for a higher credit limit despite I always pay the whole amount of my statement account every month in time. I'm using this card primarily for daily expenses because of the great cashback also for the no annual fee. I have other credit cards with much higher limit as a back up.

Safety measures

Regardless of PIN, photo and other crazy measures to log in it will be you who pays for fraud transaction. Oh yes! Before you pay that fraud, be ready to be a ping-pong ball between Capital One "safety department" agents.

Credit card refused

When booking a holiday I was reported that my Cosco Capital One platinum credit card was refused because I was over my limit. I checked my billing on the website and it was clear that I was not over my limit or even close to it. I called Capital One and after 10 minutes finally spoke to an agent who then had to refer me to the security department. Another five-minute wait and I got to talk to the security agent who said it was rejected as being possibly fraudulent and that the travel company I was booking through had a record of being involved with such claims. They seem an unlikely target because people are booking trips which the authorities can readily check on, but I couldn't refute it. Then I asked why they had not sent me an email asking me if this was a little legitimate charge. Their answer was that I had not checked the right boxes in the notification menus for my web account. I found when I went back and checked my account, there was only one box I had not checked and that has nothing to do with receiving notification for a possible fraudulent charge. So either the agent was lying or was himself confused. Like many, I have been refused an increase in my limit even though I have had to make additional payments during the billing cycle to avoid going over the limit. I believe the ratings Capital One has received on the site are well learned.

They just don't get it.

1. Regularly blocking transactions because of 'fraud'. As a result, missed out on some limited Black Friday deals. They do this regularly on me. One would think they would learn my spending habits, but they don't. 2. Won't let me increase my limit. 'Our computers have determined you don't qualify for an increase in limit... please try again a year from now'. Hello, whatever happened to doing a credit check? No, if their computer says no, they won't do that. The only reason I keep them is their link to Costco with the cashback. They do have one nice feature - the auto pay feature from my bank account each month.
