Horrific service both online and on the phone

We recently moved from Sun Life to Canada Life from the Public Service Public Health plan and we have been unable to put a claim in the system for days (the system is down or just keeps spinning) and there is no one to answer the phones, it keeps on saying to call back later.
Terrible service.

AWFUL

We recently submitted a claim for a medication. The first time we filled it, the out-of-pocket cost was approximately $17 which wasn't too bad. Not even a month later, we refilled the prescription and the out-of-pocket cost was now $22. Upon further review, Canada Life came up with silly reasons about why they didn't cover more. The same exact cost was submitted for the claim on both prescription refills and the same dispensing fee. Our plan is to cover 80% of this particular medication. The medication cost is $50.56. The dispensing fee is $7.49. Canada Life paid $35.71. Out-of-pocket was $22.34. But then about three weeks ago, I ordered the exact same medication (same DIN and manufacturer) and the costs were all the same (medication was $50.56, the dispensing fee was $7.49 and insurance paid $40.21... so out-of-pocket was $17.84) HOW? So Canada Life doesn't actually cover 80%. It's cover what they want to cover and that's that.

Change in coverage after the transfer of Sun Life to Canada Life.

Not easy to get through to speak to anyone (2-4 hrs wait online). Lines are not open easily, you have to call many times a day to get through to someone. For the past couple of weeks, I have spoken to 4 of them. No one seems to know what’s going on. No one can help me. They all gave me a promise to call back. None did. I sent an email complaint with no answers. It’s unfortunate that no one working there can help me. Their "Contact Us" chat function doesn’t work. No email responses, staff via phone are unable to assist. It’s a really sad situation. I have no idea who can help me.

Did you know that if you are a 35-year old female, a term life insurance policy for 10 years with coverage of $500,000 will cost you around $15-$20/month? Getting your life insurance quote today will allow you to lock-in a great rate.

Medication not covered

Getting to talk to someone is impossible. Medication approved for over 4 years by Sun Life is not covered by Canada Life. I am diabetic and can’t get my medication cause other people abuse the product. Not my fault. I have had no medication for 3 weeks now. My health is important to me but not to Canada Life. Federal employees (current and retired - me) should have stayed with Sun Life. We were promised a smooth transition. Totally false.

Unbelievably Poor Service

Canada Life is Canada's largest insurer and its net earnings for the fourth quarter of 2022 were $380 million. Why is it that a federal employee who has paid dues all his life has to wait up to 3 hours to talk to a human being?

I was qued on hold for 45 minutes before someone came online, gave no salutation and quickly hung up. So I called again and I've been on the line for an hour and a half now. Still waiting to speak to someone...

Did you know there is a 35% chance of developing a critical illness before you are 65 and 65%-70% chance before you turn 81? That means getting a critical illness insurance quote is no less important than getting life insurance. Your choice.

You hold 2 hours on the phone and the system cut you automatically. Please invest in CHAT GPT to get a minimum of service. Can't be worse...

Pire compagnie

Absolutely Horrendous Customer Service

by SH on Jul 5, 2023

Federal public service, new provider as July 1. Wait time to call at least an hour best of times. Chat? Forget it. Tried at least 7 times, but no agent comes online and it times out, so back to the queue, if one even exists. Calling to understand the benefits and whether a process started before July 1 should go to the existing provider or Canada Life. No information on benefits...click on a link in the menu and get a blank page. Reps have the info they read off to you but are assured everything will be available in the portal on July 1. On July 5th, click on the benefits page, and not only did nothing but get an HTTP error that boots me out of the portal, having to sign in again. What a joke!! This is absolutely crazy. Night and day are worse than outgoing SunLife. And we pay for this garbage! And, no one can seem to provide a contact within gov't, ideally whichever group coordinated this contract, to whom we can provide feedback. So I guess public servants have no recourse but to suck it up and deal with this.... Just wow. Unbelievable...

Planning to get life insurance to protect your family, including children? Make sure that you get enough coverage. According to studies, it takes about $250,000 in total to raise a child to the age of 18 (and that doesn’t include any post-secondary education costs).

Lost everything because of these clowns

I was going through some health issues and my case manager Jamie was a nightmare to deal with. I went and got cleared by multiple doctors including their own and every one of them said I had to be off work for a bit. Jamie deliberately went against and fought the doctors and me every which way and on multiple occasions telling me my symptoms weren't as bad as she thinks they are and her opinion matters more than the doctors, she also tried to get me to quit my job a few times. I spent months accumulating debt with no payments coming in while stuck in limbo until the point I lost my home, almost lost my car, had to sell most of my possessions and had to move back to live with my parents. I paid into this company for almost 4 years and when it came time to use the money I put into this company they screwed me over. I will never in my life work for a company that uses these scammers as insurance. There was never any formal of resolution and they just kept sweeping my calls and complaints under the rug.
