They deny many drug claims even with a doctor's note. Also, I have been trying to cancel my policy for 2 years with just a big run around and have been paying for my ex for 2 years after my divorce. Stay away at all costs! I would gladly pay $500 to get out of my policy. I guess I need to go to court. The worst company on the planet!
I have left several messages with an agent to call me back. I have a time-sensitive issue. Just need an answer to a simple question.
What is the point of providing Canada Life with proof of injury (X-Ray Imagery, etc.) If they only care about the prescription (which I had - but didn't have Canada Lifes specific wording in it) from the doctor, etc. I went to an Orthopedic Office, I went to a Chiropractor Office (they stated that Canada Life doesn’t accept prescriptions from them) and showed them all the documentation for me to receive compensation for my Orthopedic Soles purchase, and they stated that there is absolutely no point in you completing a consultation and charging you for it when you have the documentation/proof right here stating that you have issues with your feet. They also stated that they would be repeating what has already been provided.
So, I called Canada Life while I was in the parking lot of the Orthopedic Office, and I relayed everything that I was told to by the Office. Once I relayed the information to Canada Life, I was informed by them that they never received my prescriptions and that I need to send it to them as soon as possible. Please note that I did send it to them 3 times by this point, and I am still not being compensated for my soles.
Canada Life provides you with a letter of what organizations you should go too to get your prescriptions, and once you consult with them, they still reject you.
The federal government changed your protection. Worst decision ever. They have real bad protection.
No clear, complete, instructions to ensure you submit everything to them that they require to process your claim in a timely manner and if they need you to re-submit the same information to them that was included in your initial predetermination request, which drags out reimbursement. They seem to give you more information with each call you make to them, inquiring on the delay. It would also be helpful if they included the details of your coverage for that item, in the predetermination response, e.g. Up to $150 coverage once every year. They do not send updates as to the status of your claim, you must sign in daily to see if it is still pending or not, and no added info is added there... their system can cause financial hardship if you are relying on a quick reimbursement... Much easier to deal with a company who pays the service provider directly. Benefit coverage should improve more, annually, to keep up with the always increasing high fees charged by service providers for services required.
The worst insurance company ever, I have ever since June waiting on my refund for insulin the worst company ever, would not recommend at all.
Please, don't take out an insurance policy with Canada Life. I called to obtain a proof of insurance for my daughter's university. No one knows what they're doing. Every time I called, they tell me to do something different. It's been 27 days now. Still can get a simple letter. My daughter will end up paying for insurance, which I have already paid for. They don't care that people have to lose money.
I would advise individuals against engaging in any business dealings with Canada Life, as my experience with their insurance services has been unsatisfactory. The lengthy processing times and lack of clear communication have resulted in numerous errors and the need for repeated submission and reevaluation of requests.
Furthermore, it appears that the company is inclined to seek justifications to deny claims.
In my opinion, companies seeking cost-effective and reliable insurance solutions should explore alternatives to Canada Life.
I literally couldn't recommend a company less. I have no idea why our HR switched to Canada Life, but it takes over 6+ months to get any money back. I put in claims over 8 months ago, then left the company, and now they're refusing to pay me. Literally, AVOID at all costs. Horrible company.
Went off on short term disability, expected to last 2 weeks and my claim was approved. I was required to extend my benefits, and this is where they earn their 1 star. It has been over a month. They don't return calls, they don't respond to emails, customer service hangs up after waiting in a queue, they don't reserve your spot in line. The agent assigned to my case doesn't answer her phone or call back, doesn't respond to emails. 45 days, 8 emails, over 30 calls. I haven't talked to a single human being yet and my coverage hasn't been extended.
