Processing time for claims

by Bina on Dec 6, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

DO NOT GET ANY TYPE OF INSURANCE COVERAGE WITH CANADA LIFE.
I promise you, you will regret it. The customer service is terrible, the processing time for claims, terrible.
I'm with them because my husband's employer uses them as the provider for group benefits for I'm their employees. I hoping my husband's company switches to a different provider if enough staff complaints about Canada Life's processing time for their claims.

Unbelievably frustrating

by Greg Thompson on Nov 26, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

We were moved over to Canada Life from previous health insurer (SunLife). We have had an incredibly frustrating time trying to get payment for simple items that should be covered. I have submitted the same claims no less than 4 times, with 4 different doctor prescriptions/notes. We have called 6 times and still there is no resolution. My sense is that Canada Life will extend the process for up to a year and then deny all claims as the claims get aged out. I don't write negative reviews normally but the service, the website and behind scenes management is beyond bad. Employers and others interested in Canada Life as a health insurance provider should be very wary!

PSHCP service

Canada Life since taking over has messed up a bunch of people as they are not prepared to handle this plan. I've been waiting for 3 months now and they have lost my claim. Customer service is terrible wont answer your questions.

Phone wait times are awful, I spent over 100 hrs on the phone in a 2 week period, waiting for someone to answer. Most of the time I was cut off and had to redial.

long call waiting time and no call back option

I am calling Canada life for a compounding drug claim. I have been on hold for over one hour so far and still nobody answers. It is unacceptable for the largest insurance company like Canada Life! They should hire more people to answer the calls from their customers.

It is very simple claim. Their online system can not recognize the DIN from the pharmacy. Nobody answers the phone and no option for call back and no clear instruction on what I should do online.

I have made dozens of phone calls to them, the calls are never answered or you wait in the queue for so long it times out and hangs up on you.
They have online chat, I have tried that on numerous occasions, only to be put in wait and no one answers, ever.
i have sent 6 email inquiries through their on line website and have never received a reply to my concern. Just a "we received your request and will get back to you in a few days". Months is not a few days.
THE LEVEL OF SERVICE WITH THIS COMPANY IS ZERO. AVOID THEM

I have been a member with sunlife with the federal government until I retired and beyond and never had problems reaching them. Since Canada Life took it over you cannot reach anyone… they have been sitting on my claim for over a month with no reimbursement. just waited on the line over 45 minutes to be disconnected
Worst service ever…

Terrible!!!

I would give Canada Life 0 stars if I could! The wait time to get through an agent is so unreasonable. Last few times I waited over 1.5 hours! That is absolutely ridiculous!!! Their website claims that you will get your reimbursement within 14 days. Mine took over a month. I don't think they know anything about customer service. The agents don't care and have no empathy.

PSHCP

As a retired civil servant my health insurance recently changed from Sun Life to Canada Life. It’s impossible to get a hold of them. I waited 2 hours on hold and then I got a busy signal because they dropped the call. I cannot message them because even though I completed the positive enrolment I can’t log in. They are not concerned about the hardship this is causing many of my peers.

Call waiting times are anywhere from 2 hrs to 4 or 5 hours, at which time you are disconnected.
Canada Life recently took over the Public Service Health Care plan. It has not been a smooth transition to say the least. Long wait times, calls not returned as promised, lost and missing claims, denied claims that were previously covered, the list of complaints goes on and on. Entire facebook groups are dedicated to what is going wrong.

Preparing our meds for our 6 mths stay in Florida

by Frustrated retiree! on Oct 18, 2023
1.5 out of 5 stars

I am a retiree from the Public Service and as of this past July we were switched from Sunlife to Canada Life. Every year around this time, I would call Sunlife to get my spouse's meds approve for the 6 months. Never had any issues, ever. It would get approved while I was on the phone. 24 to 48 hours max and we could pick them up! With Canada Life, I called last Thursday, said they would get back to me early this week... Nothing yet, so today I called, on hold over 1 and 1/2 hour. Nothing cause 5pm came around and they close at this time. I truly hope this will get approved tomorrow, pharmacist keeps getting rejected. This is what we get for working for the PS... You retire and they switch us to this.
