Don't deal with these people.

by Park D on May 31, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I had insurance with this outfit for nearly 1 year and never received a pink card (other than by email and only when I requested one), I never received a printed policy and when I called them I was always informed they were busy and the policy would be mailed shortly. I moved and informed them and they emailed a new pink card but still no paper pink card. I cancelled the policy and after two months got a phone call from a collection agency that informed me I owed $89.00. I had not received any communication from Pembridge regarding this but found that they were sending mail to the former address and not the new one. This, of course, shows up on my credit rating. Not a good experience, stay away from this company!

STAY AWAY!!!

by T on May 3, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Stay away from this insurer! I'd give them zero stars if that was possible but unfortunately, 1 is the minimum. I can't believe how bad is their customer service after taking literally thousands of dollars of nothing. Been with them for over 2 years, never had a claim. I had to leave Canada and need insurance for 2 more weeks. They charged me for the whole month. And when I asked them for a no claim letter, they replied to me that there's 70$ outstanding premium which didn't inform me about before. After sending them 3 emails and getting the same responses explaining nothing, somebody finally told me that there was a hidden charge. And still, got my no claim letter.

Terrible company to deal with

by NoMorePembridgeDesjardins on Apr 16, 2019

My son was rear-ended last May. The accident was in no way his fault. He ended up with concussion and whiplash symptoms. Pembridge was rude and made him feel like he had done something wrong which he hadn't. Checks for income replacement benefits were almost always late. When we called to find out where the checks were, claims representatives quoted their minimum legal obligations and were not helpful in tracking down missing checks. The claims process and ongoing benefits were delivered in a way that caused more stress and made living difficult. I will never consider any insurance product from Pembridge or State Farm or Desjardins, their parent company due to their disrespectful way of interacting with people, their refusal to accommodate a disability (Cognitive issues caused by the accident), and their "we do the bare minimum" attitude when problems arise. Just disgusting treatment of people. There is no justification for this.

Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.

Premium raised after renewal

by pembridge-customer on Mar 8, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

We paid for the full-year premium to renew the Pembridge insurance. Our insurance renewed Feb 1st every year. We paid for the whole year. They told me they want us to pay an additional for this policy year in March after we paid in full and premium started. We also being "threatened" that if I am not paying the premium, it may have a risk of non-payment record which results in higher premium next year. Also, it may have a risk of cancellation of policy due to non-payment. The reason that the insurance company told us saying that they have a system error. The new bill being generated Feb 25th, 2019 and send to me. The renewal that I have paid is generated Jan 9th, 2019. The renewal date is Feb 1st, 2019. As a customer, we feel unfair and ripped off because after we paid in full with a contract, we are being "threatened" asking for more during the contract terms or else our policy will be cancelled and have a non-payment record.

Unprofessional to the Max

by Disappointed on Mar 4, 2019

As per the sounds of everyone else, I too was quoted a price that was not matched. The person my broker dealt with was unknowledgeable and assumed without asking for facts of prior insurance. I've been driving 42 years accident-free and they assumed I didn't have insurance while living in BC for 8 years and wanted to charge me the maximum for having the lapse in insurance... It was then proven to them that I did have insurance the whole time, it was just in BC and still, they've charged me more than the original quote.

Sloppy Work - Stay Away

by Hamgo on Dec 30, 2018

Pembridge Car Insurance has failed to defend my claim (as a client) against the other driver's insurance company. The Pembridge Adjuster did not present the facts and the full information before making a decision. The adjuster relies on only what the other insurance was saying and declared as a 50-50 at fault. Quick, Easy and Sloppy job. Not recommended at all!

Worst customer service ever!

Shortly after buying both home and auto policy with Pembridge through PC Insurance I received letters in the mail indicating that they did not receive my payment and I would have to pay the full policy up front as well as a $50 fee for both policies. I contacted PC financial to find out what happened as they had my direct banking info, they said I gave them the wrong information and it was my fault. I gave them the information again, and asked them to open an investigation, as I was sure I read the numbers on my cheque correctly. I received a voicemail a day or 2 later confirming that after they listened to the recording, they realized I did give them the correct banking info and it was their fault. They said they would wave the fee and they would just take the 2 missing payments. I should have checked my bank account because they did not take the payments. I got an email from PC about a month and a half later saying they just want to make sure I received the message from Pembridge that they didn't receive my payment. I called right away and asked what happened, as I was told the payment issue was resolved, they put me on hold while they called Pembridge, the representative then came back and said the policies were cancelled 2 weeks prior due to non-payment. I said that was crazy, why wasn't I contacted? She did not have an answer and said they could not reinstate my policies and there would be a 2-week waiting period for them to find me another insurer. On top of that, it's difficult to get insurance when your policy has been cancelled due to non-payment!!

Worst Company Ever

by CandiJean on Oct 2, 2018

We started insurance coverage on June 1, 2018, but actually signed May 8, 2018. No policy was written until the last week of July and only because they had to when our car was stolen. Our quote was for $2100 for a truck, SUV and trailer. They requested a no-fault letter from the previous insurance company regarding a previous accident my husband had. We provided that on July 23, 2018. Pembridge wrote the policy as if he was at fault and our premium is now over $7000 a year because they claim they didn't get the letter in time. They are (presently over 3 months) behind on their paperwork and we are about to make our 3rd $700 payment because they can't or won't fix this! Financially this is impacting us significantly. Contacted our broker again today and still no timeframe to fix this. I'm about to cancel this policy and stop payment on the $700 as we've already paid 8 months of insurance in 2 months! Absolutely worst company ever! Stay away!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

by sarujan on Jul 25, 2018

Honestly, there should be an option to give a company, who deserves it, a “zero star” rating. I am utterly disgusted by the service I experienced from Claim Advisor, JOANNE T. I advise anyone who gets her as their advisor to switch immediately or you’re going to be dealing with a lot of unnecessary stress by her lack of work experience, knowledge, common sense, professionalism, and compassion to the situation. This person would never respond to my phone calls; was always on mini vacations; would break promises; never completed her task on time and so forth. The only reason why my claim ended the way it did is because of her lack of professionalism and care. On top of this, I requested my insurance to be cancelled 4 times! And they still withdrew money out of my account when I had no vehicle due to an accident. The whole experience was a complete mess, and I would always deal with a problem after another. What was more mind-boggling was their excuses but I don’t want to get into that right now lol. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET INSURANCE FROM A DIFFERENT COMPANY!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Got sued by the insurance

by 2018accident on Jun 20, 2018
1.5 out of 5 stars

Trust me, no-fault insurance in Ontario. The PEMBRIDGE insurance company will not stand on the client side. The adjuster goal is to use the least amount of money to settle the claim. I was involved in an accident. I am the listed drive in the policy but not the policyholder. I got rear-ended. At first, the insurance said because of lane change you caused the accident. You have to pay the deductible. (The repair is less than the deductible). Then I didn't agree on that since the accident happened after the lane change. It was a rear-ended accident. The insurance sends me to special investigation. After that, claim manager spoke to me and policyholder. Your car can be covered by the insurance company because of policyholder but we are going to sue the listed driver. They believe that is intentionally caused the accident. Therefore, the insurance company doesn't cover any of damages and loss. Based on what I see here, they are finding the different reason to charge you at fault so that they can pay out less. Also, they did not follow the Ontario Fault determination rule to determine the fault. We are going to Ombudsman to get help. Asking General Insurance Ontario (GIO) for help. I am very disappointed that after being a client with Pembridge insurance then the insurance is filing lawsuit to their client.
