Cancellation

My mother had home insurance and car insurance with economical. Last year in July she passed. I told them she passed. My dad told me he closed her accounts. They continued taking money from her accounts. I called and spoke to the broker and told them she had passed away. I provided ALL documentation including her death certificate which they asked for. They said my dad was the one who had to cancel it because he was executor of her estate on paper because he was her next of kin/husband. (I explained to them that my dad isn't all the mentally since my mom passed away) but they insisted so I gave the contact info to them. Since then I have been receiving bills to my house from her insurance constantly every 2 or 3 days I get 2 or 3 letters from them asking for money for a policy I closed for a person who passed. I keep telling them to stop. They keep sending them. At this point its harassment
So, the company does not send me my policy, invoice or proof of insurance. Then wait a few months and finally request the proof of insurance slips. Find out I have one last payment still to make but no idea as to how much (3 payment system) anyways I make a payment of $1200 which was apparently $13.80 too little and again with no communication they cancel my insurance. Can't believe that is actually legal but it's been done and their ombudsman was unable or unwilling to help. 20+ years and this is how they treat you there. They want loyalty but don't give any in return. Says a lot about a company. They are overpriced but thought I was paying for something... apparently not.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I was a victim of fraudulent insurance by a broker named (Daniel C) a name that might be very familiar since he was all over the news in selling fake insurance. He sold me insurance from Economical which I received my package from them, then a few months later I got my cancellation package for non-payment even though I did pay this guy in full for the whole year. Right after that I called Economical and I sent them a trackable email with attachments proves that this guy got the money from me it even included audio attachments and pictures, so after speaking to them many many times and keep promising that they will escalate to the higher authority or manager or the underwriter but none of that was done. As I mentioned that the trackable email tells me how many times they opened my email, in fact, they did open it 116 times and I told them that yet all that I get from them is just promises but nothing in reality.
Not organized, no customer service. They tried 2 times to take money from my account even though I cancelled my policy and they sent me a letter of confirmation that my policy is cancelled!! Bunch of stupid people.
I've never had a claim, I paid what the invoice billing schedule to me to pay and they cancelled me for non-payment because they wanted more money than what they billed me for. If they can't get their billing straight how could they ever get someone's claim looked after? But they will sell me a new policy for an additional $800 per year that sounds more like a scam. Just save yourself the aggravation and stay clear of these frauds.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I cancelled my insurance and still waiting on reimbursement after 2 months. My wife is insured with another insurance company and had an accident and had the best service ever. They called her like 3 times to make sure everything was ok, she didn't have to call them. Pretty bad when you have better service on a claim from one company than you do from Economical when they owe you a small amount for a cancellation. Do yourself a favour and stay away from this Economical as their service is non-existent. I wouldn't want to have to make a claim with these crooks.
I have been covered under insurance for my car for 2 years I received an email in January which I didn't see. Normally papers are sent in the mail for renewal so I was waiting for that. It got closer to the time when my insurance renews and I contacted my broker who then sent the email I failed to see. In the email, it states they will not renew my insurance and the reason being is done to my driving abstract which they went on to explain what is on my abstract. But the funny thing is for the past 2 years the amount of time I have been with this company I have obtained the same driving record that now 2 years later is a problem. But was not an issue when they first took my own as a client. To me, this makes absolutely no sense this is my last year with these infractions on my record and now it's a problem and there not willing to help.
I prefer to pay instalments by VISA and Economical’s phone instructions seem straightforward - until they lose your payment! Having received their letter threatening policy cancellation, I paid by VISA again and contacted our broker, since it’s impossible to reach anyone at Economical. Thankfully, according to our broker, Economical ‘found’ our nearly $700 instalment and credited back to our VISA before the next statement was due. That was in October. In mid-January GM Financial sent us a letter notifying us that Economical had informed them that the insurance on our leased vehicle (my daily car) was CANCELLED as of Jan. 10th! Economical had not informed us or our broker of this important news! If Economical had cancelled insurance on the leased vehicle, logic dictated that it must be cancelled on the 4 other vehicles on the same policy, right?! It took several days to get written assurance from our broker that our vehicles were all covered and even longer for GM Financial to receive confirmation about the leased vehicle. I don’t know whether Economical’s error has impacted our credit rating. Our broker rightly assumes we will want to switch coverage to a different company this year.
I moved out of the province and cancelled my policy. They continued to withdraw monthly fees. When I inquired, they said they would return my funds in two weeks and that the amount will be less than half of the amount that was withdrawn, as I was subject to a cancellation fee. They would not explain how the amount was determined. Good thing there is other insurers.

Called these people in January about canceling my policy as I wasn’t happy with their services, they refused to cancel when I called in January. They then turned around in February and cancelled the policy claiming it was for nonpayment, because of this I’ve been getting problems trying to get insurance through another insurance company. I’ve been calling them every other day for almost a month now and all I keep getting is a manager would get back to me. Finally spoke to a Manager on Tuesday and he then told me he would get back to it’s Thursday I need to get my car back on the road and it’s like it’s a game to them. Called 3 times today first call 11:50am it’s now after 2:30pm and everytime I call managers just happen to be in a meeting.
