I wish I could give them a zero

I had car insurance with this company for years and years. I recently moved into a home with my fiancé to which they asked for his driver's license I explained he was insured through another company and would not be driving my vehicle. The customer service representative doing my renewal said it was fine and not to worry about it. I got an email shortly after asking for a picture of it simply for on file - weird but sure, I sent it. Didn’t hear anything got another email, I sent it again as well as forwarded it being sent prior, well this happened about 6 times and then they cancelled me based on not providing it, I was dumbfounded - I’ve never had an infarction nothing on my record totally clean - so I forwarded the proof of me sending it to 6 representatives prior to which the manager responded: “those are do not reply”. None of the emails had this in the subject line which I proved as well and they had actual employee names signed at the bottom - Tiffany, Christina and Natasha. I provided this as well to avoid a penalty - they said they’d look into it (I clearly sent it on multiple occasions and provided photographic evidence of those attempts) and they’d get back to me - one day later “denied” they cancelled me for this. Now I have it on my record for their staff's issue and mistake and have an increase in my monthly payment. They saw my attempts - I don’t know how you couldn’t with screenshots and emails forwarded and did not honour their customer over such a dumb reason too. He had his own insurance on top of it all. Run, this was the most disgusting lack of ownership taken out on a customer, who’s a single mom and nurse that I’ve ever seen. I’m still looking into how to escalate their error further as I shouldn’t have to be penalized for miscommunication and poorly trained staff. Do better Johnson/Unifund and same to future customers you can do better and not choose this company. Thanks for the monthly increase!

Dishonest

Had filed a windshield claim two years ago. Was emailed an estimate that was stated under Comprehensive. I just found out they cancelled that claim and gave a new claim number stating it was a collision and I am at fault. I would not have filed it if I knew they would have done this. I was not notified despite what they said. I am trying to get this off my record. I will be changing companies. Horrible service.

I don’t recommend Johnson to anyone.

I received an email notification saying that I need to contact Johnson Insurance immediately and I found out that they removed my collision insurance because of the combination of one accident in 2019 and two minor traffic speeding tickets in 2020. I have been with Johnson Insurance for the past 10 years and I had no issues until Unifund took over the company. When I called Johnson Insurance and inquired about my insurance they said they removed my collision insurance without any prior notification. They don't value customer loyalty anymore. Stay away from Johnson Insurance or Unifund. I highly do not recommend it to anyone! Please do your homework before you consider going to Johnson (Johnson Insurance). Their customer service is good but their service is poor.

Poor customer service and lack of concern for customers

I called to cancel my policies (auto and home) as of midnight (Mar 24), but I was told they will withdraw from my account until May 5. Even though my renewal is only a month away. They mentioned a penalty for the remainder of the policy (Excuses). Other providers quote me $1,000/year less. If anyone wants to save on insurance run away from Johnson/Unifund Insurance. They don't care about customers, but their pockets.

I don’t recommend at all!

Very bad experience.
I emailed the company, then called a service center to cancel the policy.
Then I discovered the company deducting about 75$ monthly for about 16 months.
My advice to all potential customers - don’t go for this company. Walk away.

I've been on hold for hours yesterday just to ask a simple question about my claim. Called yesterday afternoon was put on hold till closing time so no one to talk to. Called first thing this morning and have been on hold for over an hour. Gonna have to hang up to go to my work soon. Who has time for this?

Very hard to make claims

I had a car accident on Friday. The car repair shop was not arranged. I called back Sunday the representative did not want to find a repair shop for me ask me to wait for an adjuster. I called again another representative suggested me go to the assured collision center. I went there and they said dod have my paper and want me to call insurance to send the paper. Since then I made many time phone calls and waited on the phone for hours nobody answers the phone. The automatic system told me to do it online but the online claim does not work. In beginning, a representative told me that the adjuster will contact me within 58 hours. But 4 days passed no one contacted me. I have to say it very bad customer service. I don’t know when can I get my car fixed.

Stay away

After switching to another company (found better coverage at half the price), Johnson continued to take money from my account and refused to refund all of it. Spent hours on the phone over several days, had to send document multiple times and they kept changing their excuses. In the past when I had a claim they also attempted to pay less than was required by law and I had to have a lawyer step in. Most insurance companies are bad, but this one appears to be the evil overlord of Insurance companies. You would be better off with no coverage at all!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

Stay Away

I’ve been driving for over 26 years with no claims and one at NO fault crash. Johnson gave me a great quote but once it went to underwriting, the underwriter stated I had caused two at-fault accidents within the last four years! Which is untrue and I explained this to Johnson. It didn’t matter and they doubled my insurance; which I cancelled and went with another insurance company with no problem.
The cancellation wasn’t accepted? And Johnson has now closed my coverage due to “non-payment”? Rather than what should have been a normal cancellation due to non excepted changes.
Stay away from this company they’re crooks.
