Do not!

Do not. Do not do it. Do not even contemplate it. Got the card, it’s been hacked three times (awful security). The bigger nightmare is trying to close your account. Closed my card (or so I thought) yet another payment magically showed up three months later that I had no clue about. Ended up going to claims and my credit score dropped by 150 points over 2 months. I’ve had a flawless credit score for 12 years. Do not, Do not, Do not.

Absolutely horrible

I got the card back in 2015 and unfortunately had someone close to me use it and max it out without my knowledge. I only ever used this card for emergency purposes only so I only ever paid it when I used it and always tracked how much it was. I found out the card was being used by someone else in 2016 when collections started calling me. I asked if it was possible to do a payment plan, they said no. Knowing it would take some time to pay it, I asked for the card to be cancelled immediately. Fast forward to 2021, I decided to apply for a new credit card through a different company. I was immediately denied. I looked at my credit report and found the card had been marked derogatory. I called to find out why it was like that as it was supposed to be closed in 2016. I have over $300 owing on this card from almost 6 years of fees and interest because the card was not cancelled when I asked for it to be cancelled. They never contacted me to inform me of the outstanding balance.

Waste of time.

Twice I have given Walmart M/C a chance and twice they have shown me they do not deserve my business.
First card they cut my $12.000 limit down to $8.000 and said because I wasn't using it I didn't need it. Who are they to decide what I need???
I closed the account about 3 years ago and there was a balance owed to me of about $1.59.
The second card I just got. (Let me say I do not need their card) I called and asked them to put the balance owed to me on the need card. They couldn't do it and said "balance on the first card was zero. I ket that slide. Well done I get a bill pertaining to the first card "cancelled and cut up" that I owe $4.85 for an inactivity fee.
That's it with this store and their cards. These guys are nothing but a "SCAM".
Don't trust them and stick to your cards with respectable Canadian Banks.
Walmart really sucks the bag. Including their stores. Don't waste your money on anything Walmart-related stores or cards.

I was away in a different country, the borders were closed due to Covid-19 when I returned 9 months later. They cancelled my Walmart Mastercard. I had close to $600 in reward dollars. They took that, customer service was a nightmare. Never again, read reviews before trusting these scam credit card companies. Walmart rewards belong to Capital One. What's in your wallet. Certainly isn't Walmart rewards or Capital One. And for the record was is Walmart supporting these thieves.

Deceptive Customer Service

by Doug on May 26, 2020

I was approached in store regarding a Walmart Mastercard and was pressured, finally agreeing to apply. When confirming the card, the customer service rep pressured me to take the insurance plans, which I did not want but seem to have gotten anyway. Customer Service reps must be on commission. I have called on two occasions to cancel my card due to being misled on insurance coverage I did not want. March 27th I called Customer Service to cancel my account and was not satisfied with the rep's response so I spoke with a supervisor and was told to cut up my card as the account was now closed. I received notification that a new statement was ready, so my account was not closed. I called Customer service again on May 20th and explained the situation. I was told to transfer the issue to a supervisor and I would receive a call within two days. Another lie. I have not received a call. Terrible Customer Service.

Not less than a scam

Due to untrackable credit loss on my card, I called them for the information, but they were just beating around the bush. So I requested them to cancel the card. I paid all the balance right away I did not use it anymore. They updated another balance, I paid for it again. I did not use it anymore. After two months, when I log into an online account to check it because I do not trust them, and there: another balance again. I couldn't believe it! (My total loss: $1247.25, if they steal $1247.25 from each customer and if their consumer population is 10 million (10,000,000) in North America (Canada, USA, Mexico), Guess how much they have stolen every year.
