If you have time to waste, call and wait for a customer service representative

The 'Customer Service' that they offer (if you want to call it that) is terrible. Wait in a queue for over an hour, finally get a hold of someone who is clearly not trained properly. Then get COLD transferred 2 times and finally hung upon. No callbacks. You know you hung up on me.. why not simply call back? Because they don't care. That's why.
All of this because I was denied ortho coverage for my child because "it is not part of my plan". Yes, it is. My coworker who has the same employer-provided coverage had the same thing happen to him. They are just trying to weasel their way out of paying us the benefit.
And don't even get me started on their app which took me 6 times to successfully file the claim in the first place.
If you have the option to get insurance through someone else - do it!
Trying to obtain approval to get 5 months of prescriptions for our winter trip to Florida. We have called 3 days averaging 4 hrs each call before we got an answer. Finally the we were told it would take one week to send us approval. It's been a week and a half so we have been calling for two days again with no response! We plan to pay upfront and hope they can process the claim before our credit card is due.
Thinking of getting a life insurance quote from an insurance agent? They work for one insurance company and can only sell the products of that company. That may not result in the best rate for you. Our insurance brokers compare life insurance quotes across 20+ Canadian insurers for you.
My wife is on long-term disability with Canada Life. She gets her payment on or after the 4th of the month. If, for example, the 3rd is a Friday, she will not get paid until Monday. These guys are the only provider we deal with that does this. I myself am on two private pensions and, if the beginning of the month is on a weekend, I will have my payments by Friday. A couple of times my wife has waited until the 6th or 8th of the month to get paid. When contacted, Canada Life more or less says that we’ll pay you when we want, no matter any bills or other payments one has to deal with in regular life. On another note, my wife has gone through at least 9 or 10 “case managers” in the past two years. Her employer opted to contract this company for benefits, etc. Before retiring I was with another insurer from my employer and they never, ever refused or questioned a claim.
Although claiming to process refunds in 2-5 business days, I'm still awaiting one from 2 weeks ago. I also have tried to follow up with no return information to me. This is a common complaint.
If they did at least say process times are 5-14 days, I believe people would be less upset about the wait, as it would have been specified from the beginning.
I called Canada Life after waiting on hold for 25 mins, the agent could not find me in the system and she tried by my name asking me if it’s a new policy I said no. I said this is taking me a lot of effort to call in as I have Covid. She put a recording through saying there is a system error and it hung up on me, making me back call in again.
Already paid for my insurance two months ago and have had to pay out of pocket for all meds since. They had an issue with my account (that of course they couldn't reach out to me about) so I had to call multiple different people to fix... And they acted like it was MY FAULT, even though my school has no access to their files... Not sure if I will be opting in to pay for this service next term, as what's the point when you have to pay for your medications for 2/3 months already. I am in school and so having to pay for expensive medication is stressful as I am not working. Also, the guy on the chat was very rude and unempathetic.
This company I always seem to need more information than receipts for some reason and it's always delayed and always goes under review and takes forever.
In doing more research I feel our premiums are high.

Requested refund for dental care. It took 2 weeks just to post me some additional papers to fill. It took only 2 days to send the info back via their website. Now, 1 month has passed the request is still pending... Also, nobody answered me for 1 hour.
