Absolutely a disaster

by Josh on Jul 10, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Canada life admins are absolutely the worst office to deal with,
Workers seems unhappy & uncaring when they finally answered or talk to you. It takes weeks/months to speak to a live person. No return calls or emails.
When you fax or email documents as directed, they will still tell you they didn't receive it. It's just very frustrating & a bad experience.
I only use it because of my employer…

My experience with Canada life

by Talaat Eltayeb on Jul 6, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

I am a retired public servant and since we have been dealing with Canada life, I felt valueless.
They don’t take the contract seriously. It takes me forever to receive compensation for a claim.
I am diabetic with complications in my vision and the doctor prescribed ozempic drug. I filled out the required form, and my doctor did his part as well. That form was sent in April 23 and got approved just yesterday!
They are doing this to me, although they will be paying only a small portion of the cost!
My wife went to the physiotherapist because she has an accident. Her insurance paid most of the cost, while Canada life has to pay only $15 per session, and they wouldn’t do it.
Also, the communication is terrible, and you have to call them every week to tell them the whole story again and again.
To be honest, I have been wondering why our union awards the contract to such a useless company!!

Terrible

by Veteran on Jun 14, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

25 years veteran treated really poorly, agents are evasive or don’t answer clearly to clear questions. Agents who are not doctors or nurses ask medical questions …. Their process is really confusing. When asked about their process and policies … they are again evasive and don’t really answer … hard to know if it’s incompetence or fraudulent system. Their online system is not working … really time-consuming dealing with them… the 500 million that was given to them to manage veterans and public servants is going to waste…

A Life on hold

by Lara on May 6, 2024

You can never talk to someone about your specific needs when you phone. If someone does pick up the phone, they transfer you, and you are placed on hold again. Then after an hour and half of being on hold, the call will end.

Brutal, beyond comprehension.

by Napro Xen on May 6, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

Customer service is brutal, beyond pathetic. French or English customer service reps are often unknowledgeable about the products/services Canada Life provides. Estimates for procedures take as much as 3 months to be evaluated, contrary to their stated 5–7 days. Most of this dysfunction is related to Canada Life securing an insurance agreement with the Government of Canada civil servants. Embarrassing!

Worst insurance company ever

The transfer from short term to long term disability has been nothing but horrible. Been going on about 2 months without pay because of them.

The stress this is causing so many veterans

by John on Mar 18, 2024
1 out of 5 stars

It's been over a year and I still can't get coverage, even thought you take my money every month. I'm a veteran of 28 years of service for this country. Now that Canada life has taken over, it's been a year and I'm still paying out of pocket for medications. I completed positive enrollment and after 6 months of misery I was finally able to submit a claim. It worked for 2 months then all my info was deleted and now my family is not covered again. I spend hours on the phone but no one answers. The website does not work, I can't update my profile or submit claims. So what does a veteran do, I guess my only step is the media, I've sent messages, complaints, contacted my member of parliament but here we are still dealing with this very sad excuse for insurance companies. I would love for someone preferably a top executive to contact me to explain why they can not do their job.

Canada Life is the worst.

by Thomas Underwood on Mar 17, 2024

I haven't been able to get a single claim approved or processed for normal and fully covered expenses. They aren't helpful on the phone. They blame the service provider or the client instead of accepting responsibility for their broken processing. And they don't provide an email address to work through troubleshooting issues. Only over the phone! Mon to Fri. If you can get through.
