Ridiculously long processing times

by Dave on Sep 26, 2023
1.5 out of 5 stars

Canada Life took over the Public Service Health Care Plan July 1st and was woefully ill prepared for the transition. Based on wait times for processing and customer service it seems like no new employees were hired to accommodate the 750,000 new customers. Still waiting for several thousand in claims for over a month now.

Nightmare….

by StalensWay on Sep 21, 2023

The PSHCP switch to Canada Life has been a nightmare. The customer service is lacking. I’ve wasted hours on hold being passed around and getting disconnected. The majority of the time you can’t even get through. They do not have an authorization form/process so that a spouse can ask questions or help manage the plan.

But for me the real problem is… that my 8 year old requires a lifesaving feeding tube and all feeding tubes and supplies that were previously covered under the plan are not an eligible expense now. They are playing with peoples lives.

Frustrating

by A patient losing patience on Sep 20, 2023
1 out of 5 stars

I know we should be thankful because we get reimbursed for the expenses, but it is also frustrating how Canada Life processes the claims. When a doctor prescribes you something, it means you need it asap so you purchase it asap too. You have to be at your best so you function at your best at work. But most of the prescriptions you have to pay upfront and even visits to practitioners you have to pay upfront as well. I have made multiple claims and 2 months have passed Canada Life has not reimbursed yet. If they need additional information (aside from the documents already submitted) they could call the service provider or the prescribing doctor themselves to obtain that additional information. Probably the reason they tell you they need more info so they can delay the processing of your claim. 2-14 business days is not true. Just dont provide false information to people. You can put "2-14 business days or indefinite". Always remember that we are patients. We are already in need of medical attention/procedure/equipment so please spare us the frustration.

Unacceptable processing delays (6 weeks +)

by Unhappycustomer13 on Jul 28, 2022

Canada Life's processing time has gone down the drain. It used to be very good but now it has deteriorated so much that it has become unacceptable by todays and industry standards. I've been waiting for a pathetic RMT reimbursement for 6 weeks, I made multiple calls, followed up with customer service many times and overall spent so much time on this, it is totally ridiculous. Nobody holds them accountable and they clearly do not have any operating standards they adhere to. Employers who use them for group benefits need to stay away from them. There are better companies out there who don't take 6+ weeks to process a simple, basic claim. And yes, I am still waiting as I am writing this review. Who knows how much longer this will take? You've been warned.
