Manulife:WORST Co. EVER! Avoid

I've recently dealt with manulife for a claim, and they found a really insignificant, immaterial, technicality to deny me my claims. I couldn't believe it. When I first got rejected, I had called their agents, and they said they would take care of it because they thought Manulife was being unresonable too, otherwise they would have just said no right away, but was rejected 2 weeks later. This same thing happened with 4 other agents for the next 3 months, until I expressed my dissatisfaction on social media. They told me to contact client relations, and after 2 weeks, they told me I'm denied again. What was the point of that?! They will screw you over, then drag it out for months until you finally give up in frustration. They are the worst, and I will never buy any policy from them again, and I warn anyone who is considering Manulife to stay the hell away unless you want to be wrongfully denied reimbursement and lose sleep over it.

Awful to deal with for medical

Through my work group insurance I have dealt with many companies over the years...Blue Cross...you name it...but these guys are the absolute worst. They turn down claims based on a few dollars and expect the client to pay hundreds because they'll save 20. Not good enough when you are paying these people 40 or 50 dollars a week for coverage that you have no say in. It's just so unfair and disheartening to see a big company like this treat their clients like this. I would never recommend this company. Ever.

Forms - denial

They have multiple layers of forms to fill out before they will process a claim.And if you miss any detail it is denied and sent back.
Enough to frustrate the most patient and organized accountants in the world....
I have coverage through my employer and every time I see an ad for them I hope people read these reviews as I would never deal with them if I had the option.
The only reason I continue to go through their processes is that I won't let them win.
I have co-workers who just don't bother anymore.

Scammers not helpers

This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. They put a clause in the insurance because I said that I had a sore right arm blocking any medication that could be used to heal this that means no pain killers no antiinflamatories. So basically all Im covered for is antibiotics. If you want your money back because it is something that is not related then you have to fill out a bunch forms gather your reciepts and get a letter from your doctor. They work on the idea that most people who can afford these policies that it is not worth your time to do this.

Unjustified claims rejection

This company makes it difficult for you to claim anything, even if you have fulfilled all terms and conditions. My claim got rejected because I did not submit an "itemized receipt" despite the fact that this was submitted. They must have not been reading or they lost the document and decided to put the blame on the customer.

Customer Service is awful

Trying to get a claim through and have submitted numerous tickets to which they reply that I need to speak to an agent. I have tried over a dozen times to reach an agent and after going through the tree and being on hold for about 15 mins, the line cuts out. Still no response from online submissions. Brutal!

Complete ripoff

Manulife has the highest premiums and then try to use every excuse to get out of paying claims. I was blatantly lied to by multiple Manulife employees and am still waiting to get my issue resolved. Do yourselves a favor and avoid Manulife like the plague.

GROUP BENEFITS A DISASTER

Put in a claim for the first time. Despite the 80% co-insurance, I was only given 50% of what was paid due to a "reasonable and customary charge" caveat that was not disclosed in the manual or online. I was basically told that it was my fault for not knowing. When the manual you've been given and the information on their website co-incides, how is one to know that there are other limitations that we should be aware of??? First few times I called, i kept on being connected to some call centre in the Philippines whereby it sounds like they read off some script. They don't listen to you, they just talk like robots. Finally was transferred to a supervisor in Ontario and same thing. They don't care about their customers whatsoever. Hate dealing with this company!!!!!

Frustrated

I am under my husband's benefit plan and we have had non stop issues dealing with them. Every time I call them to ask them questions or try to get answers they have said your husband needs to call and we will discuss with him the plan. Even to change a password they said that I need my husband to call.

Also, they originally said that our plan started on the 10th so I went in to get my eyes checked. When I went to pay it was denied from Manulife. My husband called and they said the plan didn't start till the 20th!! What??? We were told that it started the 10th. All the guy said on the other line was "I apologize." He didn't do anything about it!!

avoid for group benefits

My employer uses them for group benefits.. Everytime a claim is put in I have to jump through hoops to get coverage. One time no problem next time the same claim is an issue. They are the WORST company I have ever dealt with.
