Incompetent Customer Service

by Maxime on Jan 13, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

They are taking now 10 months to resolve a disputed charge with no status updates provided. When I call to inquire about this, the representatives keep transferring me to the wrong numbers and wrong departments or just to the survey line where I, of course, left negative feedback. Incompetent and lay summarize this crew perfectly.

Holding me hostage for $1

by banjo306 on Jan 6, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

I'd be laughing if it wasn't true... Here's my experience with Walmart MC. 1) Cashier adamantly confirmed $25 free money for signing up. Not true. My bad... if something sounds too good to be true... 2) Second purchase was paid immediately at the cash, telling the cashier that I would pay my entire card balance. Unfortunately, the cashier typed in the amount $1 less of what it should have been. I just put my Debit card in and paid what she said. 3)The third purchase was rejected because I didn't have a PIN. Huh? Where would this come from? How was it setup? No direction here. 4)I called to cancel. Because of the error #2, I have a $1 balance on the card. Customer service (in the Philippines) refused to credit the $1 and cancel my card. They informed me that I would be held completely responsible for the $1 and it would go to collections. Escalating made no difference. Walmart MC is holding me, hostage, for $1 after their error.

An Expensive Lesson

by Biyerbeware on Jan 3, 2020
1 out of 5 stars

Indeed an expensive lesson makes sure you triple check transactions past 30 days if you miss fraudsters charging your card Walmart Mastercard will not do a thing. Buyer beware If your card is stolen you will be waiting a long time on hold before your call is answered. It should be zero-star review.

Bad business practice

by GF on Nov 30, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I was approved online for a Walmart MasterCard. I received a call saying there was a security issue. My account was placed on hold so I could verify my identity and address.
I was given the runaround for 2 weeks with the most ignorant, unprofessional security department and customer service I have ever dealt with.
I was told to call back numerous times and then told they could not give me a time limit on when my information would be reviewed.
I have 2 other credit cards and have never experienced something like this. I cancelled the account and was told I could not apply for another Walmart card for 6 months.
Don't see a problem there.
Horrible company

Walmart credit card rude

by Confused on Nov 28, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I've had a credit card for a few years it was fine at first then I moved since then my card was blocked I don't know how many times. It is blocked now I asked why they said none of my business hang up on me. Call back they accuse me of swearing at them when I'm not and hang up. I want to know when the block is off my card they said send 2 pieces of identification with pic I did they said that takes 10 days. I wait then call again they said I have to wait till midnight to get an answer I waited. No call. I called back they said it takes up to 5 to 10 business days to decide if I'm the only one there could be 5 or 10 to 5000 ahead of me. They said that's my problem. This credit card I payed faithfully every bill and now they owe me a lot of money and I have no rights to my money . Don't ever get one if I read these reviews before I got one I would have said no thanks.

Walmart Mistake

by Sid on Nov 23, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Walmart damaged my credit because of their mistake. A Walmart employee filled out my CC application. They entered my address wrong and probably phone number wrong. The first purchase around 15 was charged on the card. I never received the card or any of their statements/letters, or any of their phone calls. They kept reporting to credit bureaus. I found out after 8 months. Paid off the balance. They promised to fix my credit but it was all lies. They never did. Going to small claims court now.

Terrible Service

by nik on Nov 20, 2019

I am advising that never fall in the trap of Walmart Mastercard. The worst ever credit card one can have. Even after paying 80% of the credit limit, they charge you for a card over-limit fee. It is purely insane. If some executive asks you for a Walmart Mastercard when you visit the shop, it is only for their monthly targets. Go for any other cards, but not Walmart cards. The credit card customer care people are also the same, never help you in any situation.

I hate walmart mastercard

by Nady on Nov 15, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

If you go shopping from Walmart, always cashiers ask "do have Walmart Mastercard" and then they insist to get a master card from Walmart and get the rewards. The problem started as soon as I got a master card from Walmart at Hartland, they told me that "the card will be mailed to you up to the next two weeks", but I never received it. I went to the same store and told them about this problem, then they cancelled it and filled another application for me for another card. Before I go for my vacation, I went to the same store and paid the amount that was printed in my last statement. Then another story started from Walmart master card customer service about the late payments. After a few times of calling and going to the same store, finally, they found their discrepancy and this nasty problem was solved. But, I requested to cancel my Walmart Master card and relief myself from this sort of services and approaching untrained customer service employees.

Worst experience EVER!

by FedUp on Nov 15, 2019

I like to maintain good credit and I am choosy as to which credit cards I apply for and how often I apply in order to protect my credit rating. I thought the WalMart Rewards MasterCard would be a good fit as we do the majority of our grocery shopping at Walmart and I liked the idea of earning points towards purchases. Had I known the hassle it would involve to obtain the card or the horrible customer service I would receive in the process, I most definitely wouldn’t have put a dent in my credit applying for this card and would not have applied at all. After being approved “instantly” at WalMart.ca, I came to find that was not at all the case at all. A few days after applying, I received a phone call from MasterCard saying there was a security issue with my card and to call in. I thought that was strange as I hadn’t even received my cards (one for me, one for my husband) in the mail yet. Upon calling in and talking to the security department, they told me they needed further documentation to prove my identity and gave me a fax number. They requested two pieces of mail, such as utility bills, confirming my address along with a recent tax assessment. I went ahead and forwarded documentation and was to expect to hear from them within the next 10 days. Strangely enough, in the meantime, my cards arrived in the mail. When I called to activate them, I was put through to the security department again and was told they wanted a different tax assessment as I gave them 2017 instead of 2018. Along with the 2018 tax assessment, they also wanted copies of my driver’s license and more utility bills to confirm my address. Ok(?). This was all ridiculous to me as I’ve been at the same address going on 20 years, which could have been verified when they did my initial credit check. Anyhow, I went along with it and faxed it in the second set of documentation. Fast forward a month. I hadn’t heard anything from MasterCard. I was told I’d hear from them within 10 days so I went ahead and called in so I could check the status of my cards. What a mistake! I got the rudest, most demeaning customer service representative that I’ve ever dealt with. Seriously. As I tried to explain the situation he would cut me off, talk over me, and tell me there wasn’t anything he could do but pass it along to someone else. Alright. I asked him what to do next, what is the process, etc. He got irritated with my questions and began raising his voice to the point of shouting. I asked him why he was being angry with me and he told me because I was treating him like an idiot! Pardon me? I was only trying to get him to explain what was going on. Wow. Anyhow, I ended the conversation as he continued to escalate. I calmed myself and called back having decided enough was enough and wanting to have them cancel everything. I got a different rep so calmly tried to explain what had happened up until that point with the application and all the faxes I had sent. She told me I needed to fax in more documentation again. I asked which ones and she told me I needed to send in my most recent tax assessment. I told her I had done that over a month ago, along with my driver’s license and more utility bills. She said they haven’t received them yet. I told her that it was strange as I had a copy of a fax verification from when I sent the paperwork in. Now she started to get snotty and asked me what I wanted her to do about it. I told her that I understood she couldn’t personally do anything about it but what is it they want me to do next. She said I needed to fax the documentation to them again. Omg. Now I was frustrated and told her to just go ahead and cancel the application altogether, I’ve done everything they’ve asked over the last few months and it wasn’t worth troubling myself over any further. Unbelievable. I have never had such a problem trying to acquire a credit card, nor have I ever dealt with such awful customer service. And throughout all of this, I noticed that they didn’t only do a credit check, they also have placed their credit card on my list of active credit cards at the credit bureau! How can they list it as an issued, active card when I haven’t even had any access to it? That’s beyond my comprehension. So my credit score took a hit for something I don’t have and never will have. Thanks, Walmart MasterCard, such a pleasure doing business with you. My advice? Run. Don’t walk. Run. I’ve been dealing with various credit cards for the last 30 years and have never seen anything as remotely impossible as this situation has been. Get yourself a regular, bank-issued, low rate card and save yourself the hassle. So not worth it.
