Worst customer service

The call center guy was rude. Didn't have the proper information to give and finally hung up the call inappropriately. I don't suggest anyone go for this Mastercard.

Walmart Canada Credit Worse

by MapleRidgeCanada on Sep 28, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I am generally a polite person but what I went through yesterday was the first in a lifetime. I found an unauthorized charge on my statement from my August Statement and I decided to call it in. The customer service girl was polite, she seemed to be based in the US. I asked to be connected to the Chargeback department. She initially was hesitant and kept avoiding to send me to that department but finally just forwarded me. Then the phone was answered by a rude person. Seemed to be based in India. I asked to speak to the folks in the Chargeback department. He said that everyone is gone for the day. This is 4:10 PM PST. I told him that I want to report an unauthorized transaction. He tells me that I can not report it per their policy since its been over 30 days. His tone was bullying and offensive. I have never come across such a rude person even when I kept my tone low. At this moment, my wife and I are cancelling the card and we will be reporting Walmart financial services to the Attorney general since they have many reports against them for ripping off fair Canadians.

STAY AWAY!

by Unhappy Client on Aug 25, 2019

The WORSE credit card ever! Incompetent staff, hidden charges, archaic online user page. Stay away from this card. There are many 100x better credit cards in Canada that offer better rewards and competent customer service.

Balance Protection Plan

by Campisi on Aug 21, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I have had a Walmart Mastercard for years and do not carry a balance. When my last bill came in I realized it was incorrect so I called Customer Service then realized I made my payment to another card instead of Walmart, my bad right? Anyway, while they had me on the phone they offered me the Balance Protection Plan which I repeatedly said NO too since I do not usually carry a balance this would be a waste of money. They offered to send me the Plan information in a letter so if I changed my mind I could call and activate. The letter I got was an activation and my credit card was charged $54.00 and apparently I committed to this fee each month. Even if you say NO to the plan but agree to receive the letter you are automatically enrolled. WHAT? It did not matter that I was a long term customer with great credit history with them they tried to OUTSMART me and took advantage. When I called Customer Service they said accepting the letter even though I said NO was an automatic enrolment. When I tried to get this protection plan off my credit card they said I had to call Walmart Financial, although I called Walmart Credit Card that day I phoned to inquire about my balance. They automatically switch sides when you call in hopes they can scam you. I cut up my Walmart Mastercard immediately, if I cannot be respected and they think they have the right to scam me then they do not deserve my loyalty....you give what you get. Be wary if you have a Walmart Mastercard, they will try to catch you off guard and rip you off.

Don’t Apply for it

by SM on Aug 14, 2019

My husband has been using Walmart MasterCard for 4 year if not less and has always maintained very good credit. When he received July 2019 bill and detected two suspicious activities to his card. He immediately reported to the customer service about these two activities. First, after he explained what might have happened to his card, he was given an number to call. He tried that number and it was an automated service only number. He then called the Customer Service the second time and explained every thing again. He was given a another different number to call. The same thing happened as the first time. Then he called again...After spending nearly one hour dealing with them, he was exhausted and realized all these run around phone calls from CS has proved that Walmart Mastercard doesn’t seem to have a way to deal with fraudulent activities to protect their customers at all. He then decided to pay for the fraudulent activities and cancel the card for good. He is lucky that he only had to pay $55 for the fraudsters, but he has completely lost confidence in Walmart Mastercard.

Robbing people

by Roxy on Aug 12, 2019

I have had this card since 2014... started with the limit of 1000 then got pre-approved for 1500, then for 5000 and recently for 8600 with the letter that I am a loyal customer and so I am being pre-approved for this credit limit. So, I was late to pay in September because I was out of the country and just skipped out of my mind. Then I lost my card by the time I returned. So, I called Walmart ordered the new card and while waiting for it, as it takes 10 business days to arrive, got a call from a lady asking I am late to pay. I told her the story and she said - ok, not a problem, I will leave a note in the system that you will pay as soon the card arrives as you need the card number to pay. And 2 days later I got a letter my credit limit is lowered to 1500. WHAT? I called customer care and he said this is done automatically by the system we don't do it, the system does. You have not used your whole credit limit you have only spent 1500 in past few months so the limit is lowered to 1500 lol... so he was trying to say if I have 9000 limits i have to use it all. I am still in shock what they have done to me.

Unprofessional Call Center

by YYCMOM on Aug 8, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Rude agents. They don’t know how to answer a query and will just hang up on you or transfer you to their co-agents. They’ll say you’ll be put on hold but will either drop the call or transfer you to another agent and will let you repeat all your info and reason for the call until you’re tired of complaining and will just leave the charges undisputed. Agents will mock you by asking “why do you need more money” when all I was just asking was “why did my purchase of 1,500$ didn’t push through even if my credit limit is 4,500$ and this was my first purchase...” the agent answered back in a laughing manner “I can’t do anything” then I requested to be transferred to a supervisor the agent said “we are all agents here, same position no manager” then hang up. As if I was talking to uuprofessionals without proper product training.

Walmart should be fined!

by Silk of edmonton. on Jul 30, 2019
2 out of 5 stars

Just got a Walmart Mastercard and within 1 month they lowered my limit because I used the cash advance feature. I never even went close to the limit, their inadequate security department called and said: your credit limit is now 1000, and hung up... They are rude and not following the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada Rules! Maybe they should be sued. I will pay the 150 dollars I owe and send them their card back ( who knows they might decide to charge customers for making the card too)! What a joke they are! Canadians don’t need this crappy card!

Worst credit card to apply for

by Mommyof3 on Jul 27, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

I applied for this card because I often shop at Walmart as a mother of 3. When I applied, I was approved for 2k. Shortly afterwards, towards Christmas, they offered an increase to $9500. I accepted because of upcoming expenses. The moment you reach your limit, they drop your limit without notice so they can charge you over-limit fee, etc. Their customer service is horrible. A missed monthly payment for whatever reason will result in non-stop calls probably 8 times a day and without leaving a voice message. The monthly payments are absolutely ridiculous. They will never work with a customer to keep their relationship. They also closed my card without notice. Anyways, a huge lesson learned. Stick with major or known bank credit cards. These retail creditors clearly do not have sufficient funds to keep their business afloat which is why they will harass and ruin any peace of mind. I have several credit cards and maintain a great relationship with them credit-wise. However, with Walmart, it was very difficult. Their customer service and customer communication are poor. This card ruined my credit score. I highly recommend all consumers to apply elsewhere. They are not worth the rewards (very minimal) nor a continuous headache.

Very unprofessional/Cheaters

by sydzr on Jul 23, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

Their employee (Walmart Canada) lied about bonus dollars for signing up for credit card. They used my address where I never lived. Probably kept sending statements at the wrong address, and later reported to the credit bureau. Their customer service never accepts their mistake. I will stay away from Walmart credit card in future.
