Very poor customer service

by Habib on Mar 1, 2021

I have had a very unfair and bad experience with them. Once I found the unknown charges in my account, I could not talk to the right person or a supervisor even after being stocked for 85 minutes on the phone. This has happened too many 4 times in a row and they don’t care at all.
Funny thing is that in the beginning, they advised me not to pay the balance and first check the unknown amounts with the vendor. It took me more than two months and still waiting for the vendor but Walmart Mastercard is charging the interest on a monthly basis telling me openly that we don’t care.
Every time they tell me that our supervisor will call you in 24-48 hours but they never do. I know they love to charge me with daily interest.
I am going to close my account with them and advise whoever I know to be careful with them.
Thank God everything is being recorded and they can’t hide it.

Terrible customer service

Extremely unhelpful customer service spent hours trying to resolve a simple issue with 7 different agents. When asked to speak to a supervisor, each of the 7 times was on hold for 41 min and then the connection hung up. Said there would be a customer service review survey after call..... ya no way do they provide that. The absolute worst experience I have ever had, cancelling my card nothing is worth this kind of hassle.

Worst credit card service ever

No attention to detail. I had a change of name and had to submit it twice because of the errors that they made by not following the request or reading the change of name certificate fully or properly.
This resulted in getting two cards that were useless because they didn't have my real name on them.
The second time I called to get it corrected because they added an extra "h" to my name, they ran another credit check. I saw it on my credit report the next day and it dropped my credit score. There had been no discussion about increasing my credit limit and the limit wasn't increased, nor had a request been entered in their system regarding a credit change. They didn't ask or inform me that a credit check would be run. It wasn't run with the first request for my name change. Why would it be run when they misspelled? I'm very disappointed.

Charged for nothing

by John on Dec 9, 2020

I went to a Walmart store to return a product. I got the refund and associated with a no existing transaction charge. I went to the charged store and talked with the associate manager to verify the transaction. The associate manager could not find any record of this transaction with my card. I disputed it and got it credited back. After two months, I got charge again for the same transaction. I disputed it with this card charge department. A lady insisted my card and pin was input for this amount which the charged store manager could not find the transaction record associated with my card. Terrible Walmart Reward Mastercard. Don't try it, otherwise, you will regret for your choice.

Gong Show

Applied for the Walmart Mastercard to get the $25 discount on our purchases and was told the application didn't go through. 2 weeks later, got the card in the mail. Spent 1.5 hours getting thrown from department to department just getting the card activated (barely able to understand the people on the phone). Went to the store to make a Christmas purchase for $560 and the card was declined. Didn't even prompt me for a PIN. Went home and spent another hour getting thrown from one department to the next and was finally transferred to the Security department. Was told that due to the high purchase amount and first purchase, the card was blocked. They requested that I fax pictures of my ID and utility bill to prove my identity. Firstly, who uses Fax anymore, secondly, why wasn't the PIN prompted to prove my identity, and finally, why would I fax my personal details somewhere that can be used for purposes of fraud. After reading reviews with similar experiences, I decided to cancel my card

Caution

I changed my number and they still tried contacting me on an old phone number... Poor security, that shouldn’t happen Unauthorized credit checks, they did a credit check on me for absolutely no reason the other day. I didn't apply for a new card or anything and my bill was fully paid off. There was zero need for this credit check and I will be reporting them to Transunion as why should my credit score get lowered for no reason? No!!! Be careful. They will harass you with Promotion phone calls, which is completely dumb in a time when phone scammers are at an all-time high. Send a letter like all other reputable companies, so unprofessional and behind the times. Also even when you are in the store they will try to pressure you into their cards if you have one they will try to upgrade you to a new one, if you say no they try again. No means, no. I literally started checking out at self-checkouts to not be harassed and they sent ppl over there to try to get ppl to sign up, it’s so annoying. I had to tell the guy working there “look I come to self-checkout to not be bothered about your credit card”. The small savings are simply not worth the massive annoyance. Unprofessional!

After the first month starts they send my balance to the report card center before the due day of my bill and caused my credit score dropped 14 points!!! I will never use this card again! STAY AWAY

I went for the scam to save $25 on my purchase worst mistake in a long long time. I had no intention of activating this card thought not a bad idea to have it in case I ever need it. I have over an 800 credit rating and currently have a Visa and Mastercard from other banks. I bought a bbq at Walmart and scammed into the $25 off on the purchase. As soon as I got the statement I mailed a cheque for the full amount. My phone started ringing 1888 numbers 4-5 times every day the people phoning me were from somewhere in the world but could not be understood so I started ignoring these calls thinking they just wanted me to activate the card. 2 days ago I received another statement saying I was in arrears and they started adding interest. I phoned their customer service line about taking 1 hour and explained all and they said they never received the cheque and they would be sending it to collections soon then he told me that they don't accept cheques on the invoice it says make your cheque payable to... I told him this and he said he had to transfer me to a higher level of customer service back on hold for 45 minutes the next person I could only describe as possibly a french east Indian who was impossible to understand. I gave up all together about 2.5 hours later. I phoned the Walmart store and talked to the manager she said this is all a common story I cancelled my cheque costing me $13 and with another $6 interest charge I have no choice but to go to the store and pay it to save my plus 800 credit rating. The cheque has not been cashed. For your own peace of mind STAY AWAY DO NOY BITE NOTHING BUT A HUGE SCAM shame on Walmart and shame on Mastercard I learned a valuable lesson STAY AWAY AS FAR AS YOU CAN! It would only let me give 1 star I would rate them at least a MINUS 10

Very upset!!!

The fraud was committed on my card for over 400.00$!!! Walmart Mastercard only deducted 120.00$, they still have 306.00$ of my money. I was told I waited too long to file the complaint and that I should have been keeping track of my statements. I agree I was not reading my statements, that's my bad. They still owe me my money.

Reservations challenge

by A.B. on Oct 13, 2020

This is the worst credit card company no should ever deal with. I have a credit limit of $6100, but they blocked me from buying an airline ticket for $4000 when I have a balance of 5000+ in my credit. Now, I missed several deals because they keep declining reservations. What's the point of having this ridiculous credit company. The point of having a credit card is for people to make purchases when they don't have money at hand and to make travel tickets purchases that can't be made through debits. I put my own money on this credit card and I still blocked.
