I just cancelled my insurance today after being with TD for 2 years. They charged me exactly $375.68 for 11 days of coverage when my monthly payments were only $267.84. I never made one claim, I have a clean driving record with no traffic tickets and my only downfall is living in Brampton. I found a cheaper rate with better coverage from Desjardins Insurance. TD has no loyalty and they are competitive only in your first year, so you're better off switching after your year is up. Talking to the service agents on the phone and asking how $375 for 11 days was hilarious... Insurance companies are a scam unless you make a claim or for those that choose to scam them first. If you have a clean record and find a better price somewhere else - be prepared to get stiff-armed by a company that is purely "profits before people".
They treat you well up front. Do not believe it. We don't mind paying higher premiums believing perhaps the company can be trusted. Wrong! When it comes to claims Beware! Do not allow them to just repair without knowing what the cost will be within reason. They will screw you out of a new vehicle though you have paid for the 5 year replacement insurance. Do Not Trust them!!!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I am a 62 female with a perfect driving record. I signed up for the My Advantage app as I am a very careful driver. The app calculated that I would save 21% on my insurance. I got my renewal and instead of saving 21%, my premium went up 14%. When I contacted TD Insurance, they confirmed the discount was applied. I think the app is misleading to say the least and I am looking for another provider to move all my insurance needs.
Their rates keep going up and I rarely drive as I am a retiree with an immaculate driving record. I just don't get it!
From customer service to claims and adjusting they are very friendly and helpful. I have been with them for over 12 years and I must say that they are the most caring insurance company. If you are in a car accident, they make sure you are OK right away. Your well-being is their first concern. The premiums are the lowest I have been quoted. Their service is the best. They listen to you and answer all your questions. They had a rental vehicle ready for me and offered to drop it off at my home if I wanted. When someone drove into my van, after giving the report to the police officer and reporting the incident to the insurance service agent, I started crying uncontrollably. I guess I was in shock. The insurance agent got me to relax and had an emergency personnel come help me right away. I will stay with Meloche Monnex for a very long time. You do need a post-secondary education to be insured a with them but it is worth it. My daughter is also insured with them for over 8 years now and loves them as well. Meloche Monnex is the best.
-Sky high premiums. Search around, everyone you call will have better pricing
-horrible cancellation policies, very unforgiving
enough said.
Well, I've got a quote over the phone from them for 90$/M for the auto insurance. after I received the confirmation, i noticed 100$/M !
When I called them back, they told me "sorry! it was an error but the correct quote is 100$!".
Total conversation time 2 hours (half of this time on hold) and at the end they didn't change anything! Frustrating customer service and no respect.
My ex-wife and I shared a Home-Auto Insurance. So when we separated and changed our addresses I called and they told me I had to cancel my policy, and that my wife had to call to approve it. She did but they just cancelled the auto portion of my insurance. They didn't cancel the home insurance and of course they continued charging me for it.
They never mentioned that I was subject to cancellation fees and the last operator I chat with told me that I would be penalized with a small portion because of cancellation fees. That small portion represents a 70% of my monthly payment. How in the world a 70% is a small portion???
Moreover, they will refund an extra payment they charged me in 2-3 business weeks? So they screwed me up in every way they could.
Stay away from this robbers!!!!
I want to share my recent experience with TD Meloche Monnex Insurance (Auto). I just received my renewal in the mail and my rate has increased $700 annually due to a 'general industry rate increase'. I have started to shop around. Not impressed with TDMM!!!! I definitely would not recommend - stay away from this company - they will lure you in with a decent rate and then hit you with a drastic increase.
The company said they could only process one transaction per day, and considered the cancellation of an auto renewal 2 months in the future my "one transaction". This is causing a huge headache for picking up my new car and transferring the insurance. Echoing other sentiments on this feed, customer service representatives are no well equipped and can't answer simple questions including "what is the cancellation fee" without a 20-minute hold and conversation with another department. Even if they are a few dollars less than the competition, I strongly advise against this company.
