Tried to call them five days in a row with wait times over 1.5 hours each time and still unable to get a hold of anyone at this poorly operated company. This is extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate of other people's schedules. I was a loyal customer for over 10 years with a clean driving record to date, yet they increase rates for no apparent reason and/or justification. I'm curious to see where my money is going since they don't even have enough personnel to service their customers who are paying them good money for the mediocre service they offer. I will be cancelling my auto insurance with this company and strongly advise anyone looking for any sort of insurance to stay away from this company. They will rob you of your money and purposely not answer any of your phone calls requesting a simple explanation which you have a LEGAL right to as a customer, given that you're paying for their "non-existent" services.
Have been trying to reach them for 3 days, had to hang up every time due to over 40 minutes on hold. Now at 50 minutes on hold and I am going to have to hang up again. The only conversation now will be to cancel.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
What's wrong with TD insurance, I called 3 times this week, each time wait 2 hours, still no one picks up the phone, nobody has more than 2 or 3 hours to wait for a phone call, I gave up each time, my premium increase a lot this year, I need to talk to them. I think I need to change insurance company instead.
I've had my house and auto insurance with them for 25 years maybe more. In all that time I've had one auto claim some 11 years ago and no home claims. I was not at fault but my car was totalled. The claim was settled satisfactorily with speed and politeness. Nor did my rates go up beyond the usual creepage. A recent matter, not even involving a claim, has made me decide to leave this company. I had to purchase a car out of the province of my residence when my old one was beyond reasonable repair costs. First, they told me the maritime branch could still insure me but with a 60 % premium. I was willing to pay because it would only be for a few months. Then they came back and said they could not insure me and that I would have to be insured by their Ontario branch. That auto insurance was 85% more than I had been paying. Because they do not consider the Ontario and Maritme branches the same company and my home was insured with the Maritime branch my house insurance also went up 18%. I was not pleased but again considered it a temporary matter until I had my plates changed back in several months. I decided I would change insurance companies if they did not return me to close to the previous status quo to both house and auto. I asked them to send the policies to a temporary mailing address for me to review. But they got the address wrong. So I had to phone them to correct that and make sure future mailings went to my home address. Tried a couple of times but I could not wait more than 15 minutes to get a person. Then one day I got to a person within minutes... By not listening, just like the individual who did not get the address right, she turned what should have been a simple matter into something very complicated. She kept cutting me off and would not let me speak my mind. She had the gall to threaten to hang up if I did not calm down when she was the one escalating matters. I should have said, "You know what? It doesn't matter. I'll be changing insurance companies in the next few months," and then hung up. They'll be losing a good client. Never any problems with payment and only one claim in 25 years. She was the straw in a series of events. I do not want to be insured by a company that employs someone like her. She's a bully with psychological issues; the need to be right and a lack of genuine empathy. (I have a Ph.D. in psychology and worked in a psychiatric facility). They also lost my father a few years back. He never made any claims. But they were making mistakes with billing and he got tired of calling them up after they kept making the same mistakes over and over again.
Have been using TD Auto Insurance for 15 years continuously even with the higher cost simply because of the quality of service and efficiency communication. In past months, probably, there has been a change of how TD insurance operates with quality and efficiency gone down to the lowest levels. For the first time in 15 years, I am actively looking elsewhere.
I had been with Liberty Mutual for years before they left Alberta and sold to TD Insurance. For the first few years, TD was decent in their service and rates. However, service, wait times, and insurance premiums have become unrealistic. While we have a newer driver in the family, the rest of us have zero accidents, hold professional driver's licenses, and no penalties. While we hoped that after dealing with this "company" for almost 35 years, we hoped the poor customer service and long wait times we started to experience within the second year was just a phase. We were prepared for the additional cost of adding a new driver still on her GDL, our insurance premiums continued to climb despite multi-vehicle and no claims. After being with "this" company for 35 years, we decided to explore other insurance companies, and after finding one that insured us for the 3 we currently have with TD, added a fourth vehicle and still walked away saving $150/year. When trying to cancel the insurance, had to wait on hold for 1h10min, and they still wouldn't cancel the insurance without talking to my husband?! We've been on the same policy for 25 years! Then to top the delight in dealing with them off, after paying our premium for May of $460, three days later, they are graciously giving me $54 back... So, after this many years, I am so truly sad at what use to be a decent, competitive company that recognized long term clients and was easy to deal with, become another money-grabbing, do whatever they can to make it difficult for their clients to deal with them. Save your money and time and take it from a former VERY loyal client, there ARE many other fantastic options out there.
Terrible company. I have used TD Meloche Monnex for 4 years for my car insurance and after doing some research I found out I was paying extremely more than what I should have been ($1300 more). Each new term my premium would increase (I have never been in an accident) and when I would call to ask why they would give me some nonsense excuse. Not to mention trying to contact someone would take at least an hour. Yesterday I was put on hold for 2 hours and 56 minutes (I have proof). I've never been so disappointed with a company in my life. So unless you want to spend half of your day waiting on hold to speak to a representative, OR don't mind paying way more than you should be paying...don't use TD Meloche Monnex. Just read the reviews, they don't lie! ps. Thank you to the representative who cancelled my policy for me and completely understood my frustrations with the company.
I was with Meloche Monnex for 35 years without incident! I had a bad year after my father's death and wound up with 4 tickets. Meloche sent me a letter cancelling my insurance and only giving me a few days to make alternate arrangements. When I asked for an extension, they declined. After treating me so badly they had the audacity to ask me to return to them when my tickets cleared. I would not ever recommend this company to anybody and would never again use them myself. I had 2 vehicles insured plus my home insurance. I pulled all my insurance and went elsewhere. It turns out Meloche is not very honest. They claim to be cheap and I found much better deals elsewhere even with tickets.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Never use them. I called in regards to my upcoming renewal and was told it was not processed yet. I was also told my payment date would be pushed back to reflect their late release of my paperwork. 2 and a half weeks later I received my paperwork, informing me the payment date was the same. I called in to see about pushing it back and was informed it was locked in THE DAY I CALLED to inquire about my payment. I was unable to secure the payment on the scheduled date but cancelled my policy due to their poor customer service anyway. They admitted their fault and offered reimbursement for the NSF fees. I was promised it would be deposited the following Monday. Monday came, no deposit. I called back and was informed that they had actually mailed cheques out. Nearly 2 weeks later, I'm still waiting. I call today to be told it would be a 2 to 3 week process to cancel the cheques and deposit the money directly. They also owe me $180 from my policy cancellation, but I'm not holding my breath on that.
The waiting time on the phone for every single call is over 50 min. Yesterday, I waited for 55 min before someone answers my phone. Today (currently I am on the phone waiting for an answer.) I have been waiting for 52 min already. The price keeps going up. I will switch out shortly.
