I have been with TD for four years always paid on time, but every year my rates went up. Both my wife and I have clean driving records and have been diving since 1974 and 1978. We drive an 06 Cobalt 10 km a day. This years they want 1934.00 per year. I got other quotes at half the price. So bye bye TD find someone else to rob.
I was previously a Meloche Monnex customer for several years up until 2012, due to the "discount" offered by my university for the group policy. At the time, I thought it was a great thing, but the adage of "you get what you pay for is true". I submitted two claims through them where they decided I was "at fault" - one a driver who by his own admission was asleep at the wheel reversed his car into mine (so, I rear-ended him, apparently) and the second, where I was rear-ended by a taxi driver, and I apparently "backed my car into the taxi" while I was parked at the curb. With this second claim, the insurance adjustor, the taxi driver, and the witness were all of the same ethnicity, so naturally they would all share the same story.
Due to my experience I can say with confidence that TD practices and endorses discrimination and abuse of their position. Go anywhere else and you will have a better experience.
I tried to pay my bill by cash at the local TD bank with my bill in hand. The teller was unable to process the transaction ( the account # on the bill was in the wrong format). The teller tried to call meloche but was unable to get through. So I called meloche myself and waited on hold for 20-30 mins. The man from meloche told me the best thing to do was to send a certified cheque by overnight post. So I went to my bank got a cheque and jumped through that hoop. Later I called to get a quote to add my car to my home insurance. I was informed I had no home insurance. Apparently my bank printed an official cheque not a certified cheque. Meloche cancelled my home insurance without a phone call. I am told by my bank an official cheque is the same as certified. So I called and explained all this meloche and to tell them my bank would vouch for my story. Melcohes decision: I owe them $100 and I can't get insurance from them for 5 years.
After a month of trying to claim $169.00 yes $169.00. for a windshield replacement on my 2015 Mercedes 550 SL, they refused to pay.
I had checked with the Mercedes dealer as well as a dealer I usually take my car to for serving. On what the cost would be to replace my Windshield, both dealers said around $2600.00. These quotes were submitted to TD Insurance. TD came back saying they would replace the windshield through their own connection and it would not be an original from Mercedes. I would not accept having it replaced with something I wasn't
satisfied with. After my $1000.00 deduction, TD was willing to pay $169.00, I had the replacement done by my dealer for $2600.00 paid it myself, and then claimed the $169..00 from TD. Believe it or not, they refused to pay me $169 because they didn't do the work. I cancelled both my car insurance policies with them that I've had for over 40 years at around $5000.00 per year and no claims.
The vehicle was stolen, advised TD the same day. Found out later that they continued charging us for the vehicle insurance for months afterward. Even an SAAQ receipt from a few days later indicating that the vehicle was no longer allowed to be on the road was not sufficient to cancel the insurance! TD will not refund our money for the useless insurance unless we provide a special document from the SAAQ. First, we hear of it months after the fact. What an incompetent and obtuse organization.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Terrible insurance company!
My rates were raised by 30% in one year for absolutely no reason!
The absolute worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. I filed a claim in April 2021 for a total loss. They offered a fraction of the car value and getting a hold of the adjuster was a nightmare. They asked for additional information and I had to send the requested information multiple times. I would never deal with this insurance ever again.
My wait time to renew my car insurance now stands at 1 hour 42 minutes and counting. Please don't tell me that wait times are longer than normal because my experience is every big company I call has long wait times but this is not normal.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
I have been using TD for about 15 years and after an accident, they are not covering my physio after 6 months.
I've been insured by TD Meloche Monnex for over 15 years. I shopped around for quotes before my renewal in August and found several lower rates. When I called TD to cancel my policy, I was redirected to their retentions service. The man there told me they don't match rates with other companies, but once TD's discount for snow tires is implemented my rate would be lower than the other quotes I got. He told that all I had to do was call back in January to get my rate adjusted. Given that, I decided it would just be easier to renew with TD.
It's now January and the snow tire discount has been implemented. I talked to another CSR and she says I need to wait till August to get the discounted rate. She admitted that what the man told me was wrong but she could not do anything about it due to "system limitations."
I was lied to and cheated by TD. I thought TD had more integrity than this but I was wrong. Beware what the CSRs tell you, once they have you locked into a contract, they won't give a damn about you.
