RBC Aviva auto and home insu

by Omar on Mar 22, 2019

This is one of the worst companies in the world. If I could put 0 stars, I would. They don't care about their customers, they just want your money but when you get hit by someone, they will treat you like you're the problem. I've been put to level 5 overnighter and had my insurance cancelled because they didn't wanna be far with my claim. Very rude and unhelpful staff. This company is a fraud

Worst service

by Rambo on Mar 16, 2019
1 out of 5 stars

High wait times. Poorly trained employees. Takes 1 hr to do simple change after 1 hr wait time. Agents ask for life insurance rather than servicing. Lots of experienced and seasoned advisors quit the job as per a friend of mine who is ex-employee. Many agents quit because RBC advised to sell life insurance and openly said not to care about home and auto insurance. RBC doesn't care as it's Aviva doing the underwriting now. Would have rated 0 if there is a choice. There is no guarantee the change you called was done properly as most agents are new and have no idea. If you ask for a supervisor, they say no one available, bale and their escalation process is 5 days.

Could not speak English

Heavily mislead into an insurance policy, the agent couldn't speak English and was extremely rude. Never using them again!

Horrible company to deal with

I have been trying to call them on my free time over the last 5 days. I have been on hold for over 2 hours waiting to talk to a customer service rep. The automated service is dumb. Also, they sent me a secure email that I waited 3 days for to only not send me the password to open it!!! Shady! They jacked my rates up 26 a month for no reason! Brutal company.

Bad service

I had insurance with Aviva RBC insurance and requested full coverage as I had a brand new car, which was being financed! So I got into an accident where my car had been written off. Aviva adjuster then told me they will not pay the full value of the loss as I had declined the extra option? I asked for proof that I declined it, a recording, anything, but they said they didn't have proof but my policy said I declined the R43 extra coverage. So I was left with a remaining balance of $8500 that I have to come up with somehow to pay off the remaining balance. This problem is still not resolved as all the signed documents required I sent via mail and they were lost, then I found out the adjuster was not with the company anymore and no one told me as I waited the past 2 weeks with no reply from that guy. So now I have to resubmit everything again but I do not have a copy of my registration, which I sent them as well. Beware, people, there are lots of other places to shop, here you are treated like you're the bad one if you get into an accident. Also, they told me they will no longer give me full insurance for my next vehicle, and cancelled my insurance before sending me a letter of cancellation !!! Very disappointed!!!

Just want to switch vehicles insured... started at 6.30 pm phoning their system kept going dead... 8.00 pm and still no answer... I am looking for a new insurance company... can't change things or make requests over the internet either... look for another company that values you as a customer!

If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.

RBC RIP OFF

Have been with this company for 20 years and when I cancelled my policy, 2 days into it they have the nerve to send a bill for 238.00 claiming I cancelled mid-term. How they get mid-term out of 2 days is amazing.

Fraudulent Charges on card

by syusuke on Feb 12, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I called to cancel my home/auto insurance policy with RBC (now it's Aviva Gen Insurance) in Nov. The last payment was made in the previous month. The policy was set to expire in Dec. On Dec, Jan and Feb my card was still getting charged. For some reason, I had to check my card for something else and found out that Aviva was still charging my credit card. I called to ask them about it and was given the answer 'we did the cancellation but for 'some reason' the account is still active and that's why the card is still getting charged'. Don't make me laugh!! That was beyond ridiculous. I do not know if it's the employees who were not doing their job properly and couldn't really complete a Cancellation request or it's the company's greediness that makes them do anything just to make money off of its' clients. I will never go back to Aviva for insurance again. For those of you, please if you ever cancel a policy with them, make sure to check your transactions because what they're doing is fraud. Also, every year my insurance with them went up even though I have no tickets and claims. They want to increase my premium on auto alone by $120 per month, I asked them why since I have no tickets whatsoever, and I was told interest rates went up in my location. I've had enough.

the run-around

by Go to Hell on Feb 4, 2019

I was with RBC insurance home and auto for over 10 years. The Aviva took over at the end of the year of 2018. My policies were coming due and everything went up by $1100. They cancelled loyalty discounts making me prove my car has auto braking systems. Well, guess what, you run the VIN number and everything is at your fingertips. So after I got a new insurance company, they wouldn't accept my new insurance company cancellation form, so they sent me a threatening letter. So two days later I decided to just pay the damn thing to get rid of this nonsense, so when I called back today, they would accept my payment but I HAD TO PROVE THE INSURANCE with the new company. Nothing like making your life difficult. Well, after arguing, I paid the bill and they accepted. They will do everything to make you give up. But always remember, before you call, have your conversation recorded on your end. Save yourself. Anyone looking for insurance: stay away, far away.

RBC/Aviva Renewal Experience

by Kronya on Feb 3, 2019
1.5 out of 5 stars

I was with Aviva for one year - had no claims and a clean driving record, but no longer am because of the following. Their renewal process is needlessly complicated - they mailed me a renewal application in December, which I then had to mail back. Why the renewal isn't automatic like other insurance companies I don't know but I hadn't had any reason not to renew, so I dutifully sent back my completed application in January. I then got a phone call saying that my application was incomplete because I hadn't filled in N/A in 3 places! I thought it was ridiculous that I had to mail off an application in the first place, and that they couldn't just accept my verbal confirmation for N/A to be filled in. Keeping in mind that they take some time to process your application, and I got this phone call shortly before my insurance was about to expire, this seemed shady. In any case, I filled it out quickly and sent it again before expiration. I then had to call them 2 times to see what the progress was, waiting on hold for minimum 20 minutes each time, and they kept saying someone would call me the next day with a quote once it had been processed. No one ever did. I find it very unbelievable that I can get a quote by calling in if I am a new customer, but that they cannot give me a quote for renewal until the entire application had been processed. The third time I called I spoke to a lady who finally said that my renewal had been approved and that it had been mailed out. At this point, my insurance had expired, and this is when I found out what my quote was: $300 more than the previous year! She assured me I still had time to cancel before my card was charged, and did not mention anything about a cancellation fee. So I waited until I received the mailed out package and then called around and found a much more reasonable quote with TD ($450 less). I then called RBC back to cancel my renewal - at this point, the guy said that as my policy was already in effect, I would be charged a cancellation fee, plus the insurance for 2 weeks, which worked out to a whopping $291. This made me really upset because that is a lot of money for me. It was still cheaper to go with TD, so I still cancelled but I am really unhappy with Aviva's shady tactics. If it was this hard for a simple renewal, I am glad I never had any claims with them. Also, they have changed their policy so that you have to pay the entire premium upfront, which is a huge expense. Buyer beware and I hope my review has at least helped someone.
