I got into an accident on the highway on Jan 3rd and contacted my Insurance company. One of the company employees was my claims rep and it was the WORST experience I have ever received. My car was totalled, so it was a write-off and all these people care about is giving you the worst possible settlement. The claims rep would never pick up her phone even though her hours say she should be in office, which is extremely frustrating especially when you have just been through your first horrific accident and need questions to be answered. They offered me a ridiculous settlement offer for my car and when I declined, they requested I show posts from an auto marketplace proving that the car is worth more... I did exactly that and a few days later got a call back from a manager, who was just as bad as the claims rep. He called me back and his exact words were "Yeah, I see that it is worth more but you have to understand people bargain at a dealership so that's not what it's actually worth" - are you kidding me? This is what your PEOPLE asked me to send over, so what kind of backwards policy is this... at the end they strong-armed me into taking their settlement, but they will never in my life be recommended to anyone from my side
Out of the blue RBC decided I would have to pay one lump sump up front rather than the monthly installments I had been paying for many years. I had no claims, a great driving record, nothing to warrant this kind of change in policy. When I called and asked why this happened, the broker just said 'It's a new RBC policy. They don't tell us why they did it.' Shoddy treatment. But this was the same company that was involved in the outsourcing fiasco a few years ago, so it should come as a surprise to no one that they continue to act dishonourably toward both their clients and employees.
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
So I called RBC automotive insurance today to get my insurance info. They said they sent out a renewed policy on Dec 31 (during the mail strikes) which I never received at either address they have for me and they never called, emailed, nothing, which they have 5 ways to contact me. Needless to say, they have no customer service num either. I’m so disappointed in RBC insurance. I felt good two years ago that I had everything with RBC. Now, I'm so sorry I did
Similar to the other person, I too had to reapply for my auto insurance with a firm debt to me. I called to ensure, no pun intended, I did it correctly. I did not and my policy was cancelled because the form was incomplete. The broker told me to look for another insurance policy. I was a client for 9 years. I am now addressing the issue with my property insurance. I would not be surprised if they are trying to get rid of me as a client. My rates were very reasonable as I am finding out as I scramble to get insurance through others. Do not trust this company or their processes.
RBC used to be great but suddenly I get a registered renewal form in the mail asking me info about my cars they already have in their system. I went to the local office to get help filling out their form. They said it's not their job and if I mess it up, they will cancel my insurance. When I commented why the change they said "Aviva happened" and told me that half the staff at the office quit, and most clients didn't bother renewing. They were nice enough to hand me a printed off sheet of their former brokers and their new (not Aviva) companies and recommended I call them. You know a company is broken when the staff have pre-printed forms complete with contact numbers for the competition.
They will not keep their clients, they will give you an option to go to another insurance broker, they don’t care about their clients. Very poor service.
Tried to contact them for simple changes to existing policies.
Contacted local advisors and store by email and voice mail. Never responded. Absolutely no customer service. Zero rating.
Don't waste your time. Incompetence runs rampant here. The application process is long and painful and in the end, there aren't any savings. Avoid RBC Auto Insurance if you value your time and sanity.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
It seems that RBC/Aviva has decided they have too many customers and are undergoing a major purge. I received the form, had to call RBC to get the information to complete the form (so they wanted information they already had). Plus wait times to speak to someone are never less than 30 to 45 min. Sent by UPS due to mail strike - had to call to see if all was in order - told it wasn't (why didn't they let me know right away?). Did exactly as I was asked, but received 3 confusing letters within 2 days claiming I had not filled forms outright (missed 4 tiny boxes that didn't even affect policy and were not clear and were not mentioned when I spoke to someone the first time I was told it wasn't filled in correctly). I spoke to someone (after 45 min hold) who told me - the policy was cancelled as I missed the deadline. He assured me with a quote and receipt of the corrected form that all would be good. I picked up a registered letter that day stating my policy will not be renewed due to insufficient information. Have been trying to resolve, but if you aren't here when they call you, they don't seem to want to call you when you are available. Phoned another insurance company - in less than 1/2 a day, we will have new car/house insurance with no form to fill in. Seriously disgusted with treatment from RBC. I wonder if because of the AVIVA buyout RBC can no longer support their customer base and is using the form as a way to FIRE customers. It seems to be a trend here!
Each operator I spoke with gave me misguided information as to how to complete the application and what was considered sufficient to the reviewer's end. Ended up taking over a month and STILL waiting, when it should take "2-4 weeks". I feel sorry for these dumb employees who couldn't have a better job since they can't even properly inform someone on their own company's form. Speaks to how intelligent they are, and how hard they work.
