I have a home and auto insurance with RBC Insurance, I started with insurance when I had a G2 license. At that time they said that once I get G license, I will get a discount on my premium but they refused to give any kind of discount when I updated them about my G license. Moreover one of my friends has the same kind of insurance with the same class of license, he got a discount and a further discount was given to him by the company when he called them to change his home address. It's very annoying to call and hold for more than an hour and still do not get your voice heard. I won't suggest anyone go with RBC Insurance.
Called to add new vehicle on my auto insurance policy. After holding for 118 minutes, I talked to them and they said it is personal banking department even when the option on phone, when I dialed the number, was for insurance purposes - like for auto insurance press 1, for home insurance press 2…
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
I originally had both auto and home insurance with RBC. I had called to cancel my home insurance as I was no longer living in the home. I then called to change the address for my auto insurance and they asked me over 20 questions, I was on the phone for about an hour being placed on multiple holds. It was a horrible experience. All I wanted to do was change my address which is something that should have been done in 5-10 mins max.
Very upset with the service and the unnecessary questions.
Couldn't cancel my policy!
Because my policy was also in my ex-wife's name - I wasn't able to cancel the policy even though the car had been sold for scrap and the plates had been returned to the ministry! They wouldn't stop the automatic withdrawals, even though I setup a new policy on a new vehicle the week before.
Be prepared to waste a lot of time, with a lot of aggravation dealing with this company!
I will be changing companies as soon as I can.
when I talked to the manager she even refused to give me any discount to keep client or to keep business I really disappointed, they took double payment and now I lost almost $ 280 with no valid reason
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Customer for a number of years here, called in to add a second vehicle to my policy and waited in their queue for an hour and a half, only to have another hour and a half of my time wasted talking to an outsourced call centre to be denied adding the vehicle purchased simply to go to work with and occasionally bring materials home in to the policy. Mentioned I might occasionally use it to move a few pieces of lumber at work around to make my life easier but mainly to bring material home for personal use and they told me they don't have a "product" to cover that and because I will carry lumber in it, they won't insure the truck. How do you not have a "product" to cover a secondary vehicle (multi vehicle discount) because I might throw a 2x4 in it? Ridiculous reasoning, very poor explanation of the reason for denial and incompetent underwriter to deny an addition because of personal use of a vehicle. Cancelled my insurance with them immediately and am switching to someone who is competent and doesn't waste three hours of my time for nothing. Avoid them at all costs if you use your vehicle at work, or use a pick-up truck for its intended purpose.
My experience - I relocated from one city to the next thinking my son's father was going to be moving with me; this didn't end up happening though. However, RBC for some reason didn't "believe me". They wanted me to track down my son's father (who is abusive) and ask him for his driver's licence number. I asked to speak with a Manager; the same thing. If I didn't provide his licence number, my insurance would be cancelled? I am now with another insurer (AWESOME carrier) and they could not believe RBC treated a customer this way. I was told by this company that all that needed to do was to write a statement stating my son's father did not relocate to the new city with us (this is what the new company would have had me do). They are also really expensive with rates in comparison with other providers. Go with an insurance broker who will shop deals for you. NEVER go with a financial institution. Horrible experience. My deductible is now 1/2 of what RBC was giving me and I get lots of other bonuses as well. I had the bare minimum with RBC; when I switched to another insurance company, I was already down $30 per month!!! My plan was renewed this month, and it is down another $35.00!!!
My niece's car was rear-ended last December 2016. When she got the police report, she wasn't at fault. The car that rear-ended her was under RBC Insurance. My niece has been calling and RBC Insurance since December and until now did not even bother answering her back. What a bunch of crooks!!! My niece was told by her insurance that she has to follow up with RBC because her insurance was not comprehensive. So to RBC... it's nice to collect monthly premiums but when it's pay time you try to run. What a bad insurance company you are!!!
I called them to see if I have to move to my mother`s house so get a lower insurance but they kept me on the phone for 1 hour and finally said someone should review my claim since they dont know what is the truth ( means I am lying to them). waited for 48 hours for a call back and finally received a letter saying my policy has been cancelled...
Called RBC Insurance for a quote back in April, and was going to call back once we obtained ownership of the vehicle. Long story short, we did not end up taking ownership. The car is still owned and insured by the original owner.
Someone at RBC Insurance went ahead and STARTED our policy, with no authorization or consent. We are now out over $800, and they are threatening a cancellation fee + bad insurance record for a car we do not even own. We have provided them with the VIN history report as well as the current insurance papers for the car - still not able to fix this.
How is this even possible?! How can you insure a car that is already insured?! This is mindboggling
