They will not keep their clients, they will give you an option to go to another insurance broker, they don’t care about their clients. Very poor service.
Don't waste your time. Incompetence runs rampant here. The application process is long and painful and in the end, there aren't any savings. Avoid RBC Auto Insurance if you value your time and sanity.
Long long long waiting time and poor service. I am not satisfied totally. The advisor does not respond to email and voice mail.
Long long long wait time on the phone just for a minor change and simple inquiries. I've been a long time customer but would consider switching insurer. This has happened after Aviva bought the RBC insurance business. Should actually deserve a zero rating.
I have been a Home Insurance client with this company for a few years. This year I decided to add Auto as well. The process started over a month ago whereby they mailed me an application. I filled it out and emailed it back to them promptly. No one called me to give me any feedback. I called and I had the same experience as the others - callback in 1.5 hours and then the agents have no clue what is in front of them. They told me that someone tried calling me, however, I could not reach as my number was not valid. I told them I am calling from that number. Then they told me that my phone probably does not accept blocked number calls and I said to them why are you calling from a blocked number. Your display should clearly state RBC Insurance and you could have emailed me. Then they proceeded to tell me what corrections I needed to make to the form, which I did and scanned it back to them. The same cycle/ no callback. I called/ 2-hour callback/agent now says that there are additional changes to be made. I asked them why do they not accumulate all the changes and advise rather than doing a piecemeal job of going back and forth. Long story short - it has been over a month of me going back and forth, I have called to follow up again and again and I still don't have an answer from them. If they have so many problems dealing with a simple application from a 5 star rating driver/customer, who already has a good history with them on the home insurance side, I don't know how they will deal with anyone who has had bumps along the way, is not computer literate, does not have a scanner, cannot wait by the phone for 2 hours at a time only to be told that your valid number does not work or accept blocked calls.
If you have a good driving record in AB, you should pay around $110/month (women - $105/month and men - $113/month). Do you overpay? Get an Alberta car insurance quote to start saving.
Had a 5,000 claim in 2015, in 2017 Aviva partnered with RBC as the underwriter and then they cancelled my insurance 1 month before my renewal!!! RBC said AVIVA sent me a re-application via snail mail (which I never received). Because I didn't "reapply within 2 weeks, they sent a "registered" letter informing me my policy is cancelled and they no longer want me as a customer. AFTER 15 years of being a customer, never missing a payment! No changes in my vehicles or driver rating. (They actually said they would NOT cancel my House insurance! LOL). BEWARE, Aviva now RUNS RBC insurance and the complaints line I called said they are targeting longtime customers and snuffing them out as most have a declining deductible clause (my $500 deductible was at $0 because of my 15 years of "Loyalty"), haha. They ACTUALLY said I qualify for the exact same coverage after the RBC agent issued me a quote and I would have NO lapse in coverage, HOWEVER, there would be $150 rate hike and I would lose all accrued loyalty benefits such as my declining deductible, which was at $0, so re-set to $500. RBC's bait and switch predatory practices are despicable, I don't believe they ever mailed me any re-application/renewal forms and obviously by not emailing me or calling me to notify me about pending policy cancelation (they had my email and home phone number on file for years) they obviously targeted me and are looking to get rid of long-term customers. The RBC insurance Rep apologized for AVIVA's unscrupulous corporate tactics as this is new to RBC, she sounded embarrassed after admitting she is getting multiple calls from longtime customers with similar complaints. Note RBC does not target new customers, within the last 2 years, rather longtime loyal customers they want to get rid of. Good luck RBC, I'm lodging a complaint with the Ontario Insurance Ombudsman and notifying my Union, my workplace as well as my friends and family to steer clear of RBC! AVOID the renewal cancellation hassle by RBC auto insurance.
DO NOT SWITCH TO RBC. I do all my banking with RBC and thought it would be nice to have everything including my insurance with them - BIG MISTAKE. Wait times are minimum 40 minutes to an hour to speak with a representative. When I put my new vehicle on the policy, it ended up being over $350 more than what I was quoted on. I knew the quote may fluctuate by $100-$150 when I actually added the vehicle to the policy but to be off by $350 is significant. Do not trust the quotes they give you or you will be surprised when the policy is actually issued or when you make changes.
Currently on hold for an hour and a half trying to remove a vehicle that I sold.
I will be switching insurance companies if I have to keep holding for such a long time!!!!
Did you know that on average Ontario drivers with good driving records pay $1,805/year in auto insurance? Is your insurance rate higher? Get a free car insurance quote and start saving today.
Worst customer service ever. I was with RBC for 5 years and when I need to register my new vehicle - on hold for 2 hours. After being a loyal customer for 5 years and paying my money to these scums for 5 years. It’s finally time to go. Rude people on the phone too. Wouldn’t let me talk to a manager. Waste of time. Don’t waste your money on these scums.
RBC used to be great but suddenly I get a registered renewal form in the mail asking me info about my cars they already have in their system. I went to the local office to get help filling out their form. They said it's not their job and if I mess it up, they will cancel my insurance. When I commented why the change they said "Aviva happened" and told me that half the staff at the office quit, and most clients didn't bother renewing. They were nice enough to hand me a printed off sheet of their former brokers and their new (not Aviva) companies and recommended I call them. You know a company is broken when the staff have pre-printed forms complete with contact numbers for the competition.
