Rip-off

So I got suckered into getting this card due to the low annual fee and the bonus WestJet dollars upon signing up. Turns out that you can't use WestJet dollars for the whole fare. So you end up paying for half the flight. WestJet flights outside of Canada are more expensive than other carriers, so you aren't saving any money by using WestJet or having WestJet dollars. Next, the companion fare is $99 only to the US. By the time you use the card, you're going to need to spend a few hundred WestJet dollars and, remember, you can only use it for half the ticket cost, so you end up wanting to fly to the Carribean or Europe. The companion fare to go to those places are $299 and $399. All of the base fares are cheaper than this, so the companion voucher is useless. Finally, they market that WestJet members can use their dollars to book flights to partner destinations. The only problem is you can't use the website to do this and customer service can't do it as well! You have to book through a travel agent and then use your WestJet dollars there. I didn't try it but I'm sure it's not that simple. Also, any long-haul flight, where a leg is with WestJet, is priced so much higher and takes so much longer than a flight that takes you there with one carrier, so, again, booking partner flights is useless. So I basically wasted half a year with this miserable card when I could have been getting hundreds of dollars in cashback using another card. Horrible experience.
